Diaby did suck a lot of balls today. I pray this will wake Wenger out of the mild apathy he had for a new signing.

Wilshire looked really good, for his age, again today. For such a small lad he showed some great strength. Nasri looked good too.

Denilson played well though Real didn't pose much of a threat. Nasri looked good esp in the first half which to be fair i only noticed cos i was sitting on that side.

Diaby played better yesterday, with him i feel he needs time to play in the central positon as he hasn't played there much. Ade got booed alot which the silly fucker deserves. I love how Eboue got booed when he came on.

So we've been linked with Alonso again this morning who I think would be an awesome signing. 26, experienced in the premiership and an international team mate of Cesc. To be honest I'd pick him over Barry but maybe that's just because I've always been a fan of Alonso's.

What do you guys think?

I'd feel a bit uneasy about financing their move for Barry by buying Alonso, i'd think let's just buy Barry, but buying Alonso would make sense. We desperately need a midfielder. And a centre back but that's another story.

Not sure about a price for Alonso though. Maybe i'm just brainwashed from years of Wenger penny pinching and can't accept that quality, experienced players actually cost money.

Diaby is a no in centre midifield though. Yesterday was the same old shit from him. Hold it a bit more, just a bit more, just a bit...oh someone has kicked it from me.

I was thinking that Diaby could make it. He's great on the ball and likes a tackle, he does have a bit of Vieira about him. But his passing is bad and he's got little discipline. I thought he looked like he'd learnt a bit on Saturday but going on yesterday's performance he still overplays all the time. So I think we would be best signing a central midfielder. Barry would give us stability and reliability whereas Alonso has a terrific range of passing and might link up well with Cesc. Overall I'd be happy with either but at the same time the thought of signing one of them doesn't exactly get my pulse racing.

Walcott is looking like the real deal, finally. If he continues to develop he could become one of the top two or three English players of his generation, and certainly the most exciting. Ramsey and Wishere too, exciting times.

He always looks like he could but for me he gives the ball away far too much and playing in the centre that's pretty much one of the most important things to do i.e. keep the ball. I wouldn't mind starting the season with Cesc and Denilson though.

I wondered on Saturday if the penny had dropped with Diaby. I was quite excited about him and Cesc, but as you say there are still fundamental flaws. I really hope he can cut them out of his game cos he's really talented and physically great. I do think he's better suited to an attacking role too.

Denilson I've always liked. He's really busy and has a great attitude. I do struggle to pinpoint any real strengths in his game though and I never see him dominating a midfield. Crazy as it seems I'd almost look at Ramsey as favourite right now, 17 or not. But in truth we need a wise head in there and it probably comes down to Barry as much as anyone else.

Jack Wilshere’s meteoric rise to prominence with Arsenal has been recognised by Arsene Wenger, with the Frenchman naming the 16-year-old in his first team squad for the coming season and handing him the number 19 shirt.

Quite incredible really, but he does look like a special talent.

Does anyone know what's happened to Fran Merida? Where is he?

Amazing news about Wilshire. Let's hope Arsene keeps the lad's feet on the ground.

As far as I know Fran is back with us after a loan spell with Real Sociedad. Why we didn't see him during pre season I don't know.

I don't think he deserves that myself. Yeah he's a cheat and not very good, but it's up to the manager to get rid of him if he sees fit.

I agree. I don't like him but I wouldn't boo him and mock him. I think he looks a bit soft in the head, to be honest. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer. I think he does stupid things but at times he seems OK. I think the manager and players need to sort him out. We've all seen other Arsenal players dive and not chase the ball down etc. but we don't boo them. Pires went over easily and hardly made a tackle but he's a total legend.

He does deserve it as he is a disgrace and doesn't deserve to be able to play for arsenal

Strongly disagree. Jeering him will not help the guy. I want everyone to get off his back as he clearly can be a very good player for us. He can fill in anywhere on the right hand side and could be a very handy player when we have injury/suspensions.

It was amusing on Sunday when a few people got on his back, but we should be behind him really.
