Diaby could quite possibly be our man for the centre with cesc, and denilson should be fighting for that place aswell. I dunno what will happen but i don't want villa!!

Aye, Diaby is immense and I assume will be the number one for the position.

And, 'EPL'? Really? This isn't South-East Asia.

But no, we've got two centrebacks that are pretty sound for the Premiership. So long as the ball is at their feet. With no-one bearing down on them.

..in a training game. Against the ladies. Ladies reserves. Ladies youth team reserves.

Seriously, Toure we all love but he's not a natural and gets turned all over the place. Gallas is incredibly overrated. Phil has one mistake per match in him. Djourou might make it, might not. Song is looking like he could do it but would you stick him in from day one as first choice? Havard Nordtveit is apparently extremely good but still young.

We simply have to have a first class central pair and we don't have that right now.

Diaby has never played in defensive midfield and so far no-one has ever seen him defend well.

Unless Wenger has spent the whole summer teaching him to use his strength defensively and changed the entire focus of his game, you won't see him partner Cesc.

I don't even know how to respond to the wrongness there.

Literally stuck for words.

Diaby has great potential but he's not the answer right now. I wouldn't trust him in he middle cos he gives the ball away too much and/or holds on to it too long. I do like him as a player though.

This.

2 seasons on and he's really struggling to find his niche.

According to the Metro this morning (I know) Bendtner is angling for a move to Roma.

Agreed. We clearly don't want to sell him but where do you play him? Wide left is unfair to him and isn't best for the team. He doesn't play in the hole and I struggle to define him as a proper holding or attacking central midfielder. Probably more attacking but we need a holder. Arsene needs to define his position and work towards it.

I reckon he'll play in the hole behind Cesc. He's style of play is suited to it and while I don't think he's natural in that position, he's certainly more use there than wide. Again. He's not a winger. Not even close.

Edit: Read yesterday that Bischoff is going straight into the reserves. Wenger is paying nothing for the fella, but still, a signing for the reserves when there's definite gaps in the first XI? Odd.

Ade seeks Arsenal sign

How about this for a sign?

winston_churchill_victory_1.jpg

Emmanuel Adebayor's agent has demanded Arsenal demonstrate their desire to hold on to the in-demand striker.

How about Adebayor demonstrating his desire to do what he did last year again and even for the next 5 years before he starts comparing himself with Henry? If ever there was an example of beleiving your own hype.

"It is vital that Arsenal show their motivation to keep him," agent Courbis said in the Daily Star.

"There has been a love story between Adebayor and Arsenal and his relationship with Arsene Wenger is based on trust and respect.

"If this was a money problem, then he would have asked to leave. He is a man of heart, not of money. He is not greedy."

What a load of bollocks.

How about Adebayor's agent demonstrating that he's not a cunt and shuting the fuck up an fucking right off.

Oh, and we need to buy a partner for Cesc and the yellow kit is good.

Is Merson holding some betting slips, and who is that behind Smith? RVP? Looks a bit like Ramsey.

Going back to what we were saying I don't think the squad currently contains a partner for Cesc. Sure Gilberto, Song, Denilson etc. may provide cover but there is no way any of them can start the season.

Diaby is a funny one. The physical similarities to Vieira probably haven't helped him but I actually think they are a little similar. Vieira always played for us with a central midfielder who liked to sit in front of the back four, such as Petit or Gilberto, while he roamed and made tackles high up the pitch and joined the attacks when possible. Diaby, on the few occasions when he has played, looks to me that he could play this role, but only with a "sitter" behind him. Cesc is clearly not this man. Cesc also needs a "sitter" as his displays in front of Flamini showed last year.

Diarra is an idiot. Just wanted to say that again as he would be absolutely perfect for this role. I don't see us signing Yaya Toure as Wenger has probably had the chance before and passed. Who else is there? Veloso keeps being mentioned but I can't see Wenger spending the £15m-£20m it seems he costs. This for me is the biggest hole in our squad.

Yeah. And Flamini. As much as I'm annoyed at the players for fucking off I'm more annoyed that the Club allowed it to happen. Flamini should be a year into a five year deal and until that was done and dusted there's no way we should have gotten rid of Diarra. We're back to square one now. Starting with Flamini or a settled Diarra would have been perfect for the coming season.

Yes you are right the club have to take some of the blame, but I don't think they were 100% at fault. If it's true that Diarra refused to play in a game then he had to go. And Flamini went from nearly signing for Birmingham to interesting AC Milan in 9 months so it is understandable that Arsenal made him earn a new deal as he was hardly a world beater 12 months ago.

I agree the club are partly to blame for the Diarra and Flamini exits, but Diarra has proved that he's a cunt and showed no respect or any patience or belief in his ability. Did he expect to walk straight into the Arsenal team? I don't put much blame on the club where he's concerned.

With Flamini, just to make it a bit worse, the guy I know that lives/used to live near Flamini told me recently that he saw him and Flamini was even a little dissapointed to be going. He said that Milan wanted him more than Arsenal (I suppose he's basing that on the money offered), he also said that if Arsenal offered him even in January what they offered him now he would have signed. I don't blame the club for not offering him a new deal last summer but in January we should have done everything to get him to sign a new contract.

Agreed, we surely can't go into the season without signing a defensive CM.

The Club is to blame cos they knew the Flamini situation. We all knew he'd leave. The thing to do was give him an extra 10k per week or give Diarra assurances. Deal with it at the time rather than fuck around and lose both of them. And Diarra might be a cunt but aren't most of them? Rather a winning cunt than a cheap ass muppet.

Probably. He definitely would now. Virtually every team in the Prem.

Yeah it is quite unbelievable really. To lose 2 players like Flamini and Diarra in the space of 6 months should not have been allowed to happen.

However, If Diarra was getting into a strop because he didn't walk straight into the team, remember Flamini was in fantastic form, and then refusing to play in a game and then asking to leave, what should you do with someone like that? He probably would walk into most teams in Europe but he needed to just sit tight and give it time. He said he wanted regular football so he would go to the Euro's with France.

That worked out well for him didn't it?

Was it worth leaving Arsenal for that?

Ideally with Flamini we should have got him to sign a new contract in January. If he wouldn't then Diarra should not have been sold. As it turns out Flamini has gone, so we would have had the perfect replacement in Diarra.

Going back to players being cunts, I agree, about 90% of them are. Sometimes though they've got to be shown who's in charge and that they can't be allowed to behave anyhow they like.

We should stop short of cutting our nose off to spite our face but the line must be drawn somewhere, and obviously Diarra crossed it otherwise I'm sure Wenger would have made more of an effort to keep him.

Gilberto - Wasn't good enough last year, wont be good enough this year.

Diaby - Potentially maybe, in real life not sure

Djourou - you can't be serious

Thats why I stated I hope it changes, but at the moment - those are the only options.

Can't believe we wont bring in a DMF and a CB.

Could it be that nearly every Arsenal fan thinks we need to buy a DMF and a CB but Wenger doesn't?

Surely it's obvious that we need to replace Flamini like for like i.e. someone who's capable of playing top quality football week in week out, like we saw from him last season.

And surely it's obvious that one of the things which was wrong last season is that there were many occasions where we were lacking a big fuck off commanding centre back.

Edit: if only

Kind of the opposite situation to the Sagna signing; "Right back, we dont need another right back do we?" Was nice to be proved so wrong.

Why has there been absolutely no Eboue transfer speculation?

Ignoring the fact that no one would want him. I presume even his agent can't quite believe he is still getting premiership wages.

Best to keep quiet and hope no one notices for another year.
