Given we've been linked to Yaya Toure just about every summer since we signed Kolo and didn't sign him even when he cost 50p, I can't imagine Wenger will want to pay top dollar for him, or that as Dogsout said, Barcelona will sell him.

I can guarantee you that Arsenal will not sign a more talented player than Nasri this summer.

Talent is only half the story though. Walcott is very talented and it's taken him ages to really get going.

Imagine if we splashed out for someone like Mascherano or Essien to come and play next to Fabregas. Surely someone with experience of the English league would be preferable?

I think it's quite a coup that Arsenal have got Nasri. There's no doubt you need another central midfielder but at this early stage of the summer you've simply signed one of the best young players around. Nasri's fee isn't too steep either, leaving a few £ to bring in the defensive player to replace Flamini.

I will be very pleased if we do wrap up the Nasri deal but if Hleb leaves we haven't added to the squad, and Nasri will take time to settle. However i'm no massive fan of Hleb so overall I will be pleased with the deal if they go through.

Vela looks like a decent addition to the squad however I don't expect too much from him from his first season here so anything from him is a bonus.

That still leaves the two most important positions we need to cover; centre back and central midfield.

I'd like to see a tall centre back come in as I think we can be vulnerable in the air. Not sure who and not really seen anyone linked but someone like Vidic would be perfect. A "proper" centre back, tall, strong and a good man marker too. (Obviously I don't think we will buy Vidic, I just mean someone like him.)

As for the centre midfield spot obviously it is disapointing to lose two international midfielders in the space of six months but you have to look at the reasons why they left. Diarra got impatient after 4 months at the club and while I would have liked to have seen him stay I am sure Wenger had his reasons for letting him go. If someone isn't prepared to stay and fight for his place after 4 months (and rumoured to have refused to play in a game) then they have got to go really.

Flamini had a corker of a season and has left at the absolute height of his worth. He will never be in a position like that again. I'm not saying he is not a good player but I think we made him a sensible offer but we wouldn't match the reported 80,000 a week and also I think the fact that it was AC Milan turned his head so good luck to him.

I think it is a consequence of signing foreign players that they are much more open to moving on to another country. They have already left their home country, why wouldn't they move again? It isn't really about loyalty, it's just another club to them.

I'm starting to think outside investment might be the way to go.
Chelsea and United debts at record £1.5bn
Chelsea's accounts show that the club's largest creditor was the owner himself, Roman Abramovich, who had poured £578m into the club, not as a donation but as an interest-free loan.
United's accounts showed the club's total creditors at £764m. United does have "external debt" - £666m owed to financial institutions, including £152m to hedge funds - taken on by the Glazer family when they bought the club in 2005, then loaded on to United itself. While United's loans incurred interest of £81m last year, the loan to Chelsea by Abramovich is interest-free.
If the owner's enthusiasm were ever to wane, and Abramovich decided he did want his loan back, the accounts show that Chelsea would have 18 months to find the money.

Still think that?

Thuram is still rumoured to be coming as player/coach.

Well, obviously it's all knee jerk stuff on my part  . But I'm finding it hard to see how and when we'll move forward. We've overachieved in all honesty and it still looks quite rosey but United and Chelsea will pull away if we can't or won't match their financial commitment. We never build on anything and never get any momentum. The stadium is obviously a burden but if, with all the extra revenue, we're not in a position to invest heavily then what was the point? What if we slip to mid table and the crowds start to drop etc.?

About 5 years too late on the playing side.

I don't think it is knee jerk. With Usmanov still lurking in the background with his 25%+ stake it is a real possibility and very tempting. Imagine Wenger with unlimited funds. He could buy ten, maybe more, 20 year olds.

Seriously though I would rather we continued as we were. If someone buys us and "invests" money in us it will almost certainly be in the same way Man Utd or Chelsea have been "invested" in. Either a huge debt passed on to the club or a "loan" which can be called in at anytime. No thanks, as frustrating as it is to see those c*nts doing well I would rather continue as we are.

It is always a danger that we will have a bad season but there is so much demand for tickets at Arsenal that I don't think crowds will drop. Well I hope not anyway.

According to Arsenal news review, why Nasri hasnt yet signed:

The deal has already happened but the legal niceties of administration have to be respected. The French transfer market only opened at midnight on Sunday.

The article goes on to suggest Nasri will officially sign after the French international (on Thursday).

Makes sense I suppose, let's hope it's correct.

Also with Barca signing Keita maybe something will happen with YaYa Toure.

I read this today aswell. I'm not sure about yaya but you never know when new managers come in they wanna make their stamp on the team plus i doubt yaya and keita would both start.

Bojan--Eto'o--Messi

---------Xavi

------Toure--Keita

Why can't they both play? I'd be surprised if he's allowed to leave. But then, I'm both surprised and amazed that Nasri is apparently heading your way for such a meagre fee (in comparison to what has been mooted in the press all season).

Will Barca continue with a 4-3-3? Eto'o won't be there at least. Also, if Keita and Toure both play where does that leave Iniesta? He's far, far too good to be a bench warmer. If Barca go 4-4-2 then Xavi surely starts in the middle. Guardiola has some big choices to make.

Er, back to Arsenal chat.

The final squads have been anounced for the Euro's and Flamini didn't make the cut. I feel a bit sorry for him really but since he's left us, his new team have qualified for the UEFA cup and not the CL and now he's been ommitted from the France squad. On the back of such a superb season it's a suprise really.

Gallas got in the French squad.

Senderos and Djourou made the swiss squad as did Fabianski the Polish.

RVP is in the Dutch squad (obviously) even though he's injured (obviously)

Lehmann is the German number 1 and Cesc has been given the number 10 jersey.

Who will everyone be supporting?

I'm not too bothered really but it would be nice if one of the gooners wins it.

Edit: Why haven't we signed Nasri yet?

Diarra in and Flamini out. Another odd call from Domenech.
