Thing is, Walcott has shown glimpses of doing that so not all is lost...

Yeah, ideally it'll be him. But I thought that in January. Who wants to be discussing how Theo isn't ready when we're eight points behind the leaders in October? We need to buy pre season and buy decent players for decent money. Plus Walcott will move centrally at some point so a tricky winger would be a good buy.

I can't be the only one who thinks Almunia has been superb this season?

I'd buy the best keeper money can buy. £20m plus if necessary. Almunia is OK but we should have better.

The thing is, and this was alluded to earlier, its no good having good first choice players (e.g. Almnunia and Hleb) if they aren't being pushed for their place in the team by other members of the squad.

We should have got he wallet out for Ribery, he looked excellent against England. Shaun-Wright Philips could be available though.

We definitely fucked up where Ribery is concerned.

Ashley Young?

Edit: Robinho?

Nah, I think he'll stay at Villa for a while. I would bend over backwards to get Agbonlahor but that is hardly likely :)

Why?

We should offer them good money, offer him a top deal and get it done, if Wenger wants him that is.

No disrespect to Villa, but Arsenal should be able to buy a Villa player if they decide they want him.

I reckon Song is a good squad player actually, I wouldn't mind him playing instead of Gilberto *runs*.

He looked a different player prior to going to the ACN and got named in the ACN team of the tournament, I think. I'd give him another season.

It sounds a bit mean on Villa, but I agree.

We missed the boat with young just as we did with ribery, Babel and half the players we've ever gone after. I don't mind almunia tbh he has done very well. Denilson and Diaby haven't had much of a chance and the signs are all there that they will be good players. diarra never played exeptioal for us and now he's doing it every week for pompey so maybe that shows that our young fringe players need a run in the team. I'd get rid of:

Lehmann

Hoyte

Eboue (cos i hate that fucker)

Bendtner (maybe)

Djourou (maybe)

I would like a winger like lennon who will run at players. We need that on both flanks really. When all strikers are fit we don't have a prob but we've had bad luck so not really sure if we need another forward. I'd definately like an experienced left back as cover for traore as he is just too young and raw to be back up.

I see RVP is in the squad for tonight, wonder if he can/will play though.

If he's fit it's got to be him and Ade up front, if he's not fit then I say just chuck Theo up front with Ade and give the scousers something to think about.

So tonight then….. We looked like we were running on fumes by the final whistle on Saturday and I can’t see were a goal will come from. The goals in the first leg and on Saturday both came from ropey marking at set pieces so I fear the worst.

Put Theo on from the start and stick him out on the right and let us pray.

He's past it but the other chaps must be knackered surely. I can see us conceeding, so 2-1.

Yeah I agree, Cesc, Flamini and a few others look knackered but surely this is not the game to rest anyone.

is that 2-1 to us by the way?

Of course to us! We were far superior at Anfield earlier in the season and I don't believe in this European 12th man nonsense.

might work against other european opposition but i don't think this 12th man bollocks will have the same affect on us, being an english club and all.

John Terry says hello: "When we walked out there last time and heard the noise, I think we took it in too much and it affected us".

It's not bollocks, mate. Anfield will be rocking, and your lads will never have experienced a more intimidating atmosphere. Whether we'll be able to capitalize on that or not is another matter entirely, though.
