Nice letter on F365:

"The most poinient (SIC) moment for me however was when Adebayor was celebrating his goal. The ref ran across to tell him to stop before Paolo Maldini jogged towards him with a hand out and expression as if to say "just let them enjoy it". This from a man who knew that this was his last moments playing in a European competition that he has won so many times and after a career spanning nearly 25 years. What a human being he is."

:(

Milan were utterly superb in defeat.

The fans looked absolutely shellshocked, mind.

I was always confident Arsenal would beat them over two legs - even more so after the 0-0. I thought last night would have actually been a 1-1, mind. Winning 2-0 in Milan is the kind of result that will have people all over Europe sitting up and taking notice, just like the 1-0 win in Madrid two years ago.

So, Theo Walcott is the first English premiership player to win at the San Siro? :(

I was impressed with him, I was out of my seat cheering when he ran back to make some crucial interceptions, everyone was playing at man of the match standard (apart from Eboue, natch).

I hope so, the pitch had been relaid for last night at the San Siro and it was magnificent, suited us down to the ground.

I know!! As you can imagine i was jumping and cheering everything Walcott did, esp the tackle on Kaka :( I felt Eboue was pretty shite tbh he got into good positions but he just has no composure and everytime he had a chance i was already focusing on my pint as i knew he'd fluff it.

I saw his hand coming out at the time (well, when I played it again after coming down from the ceiling) and I thought he was telling us to cool it but if that's the case then hats off to him cos it's a terrific reaction.

I agree. Post game comments were honest and sincere. Apparently their fans applauded us. Fair enough, we were great, but you wouldn't expect that. Great Club.

TuttoSport are reporting that the Italian giants (Juve) were impressed with their prime target Gael Clichy as well as Mathieu Flamini and Bacary Sagna.

So they should be. All three outstanding. They need to get real though. Having said that I'll be a happy man when Flamini signs a deal. He's fucking awesome.

I've always thought he was a pretty decent player and just needed a run in the team (in a position other than left back!!) but i never thought he would be this good. he's been fantastic the whole season and completely overshadowed Gatusso yesterday.

I'd hate to imagine how we'd be next season if he were to leave at the end of this season... :(

I don't know about everyone else but I'm still buzzing from the game the other night.

What a performance, superb stuff.

Need to calm down a bit now, next game, game at a time, haven't won nothing yet and all that sensible stuff.

Going back to the other night though.......

Fabregas was given a standing ovation by the AC Milan fans after masterminding the European champions’ downfall with a mesmeric display in Tuesday night’s 2-0 win.

Reflecting on the magnitude of Arsenal’s achievement, he said: “This is a night I’ll remember forever.

“When you are up against AC Milan in the San Siro, against players like Kaka and Pirlo, you have to play with no fear.

“We all play football for nights like this. We said before the game that we had to enjoy ourselves and even in the pre-match warm-up you could see the smiles on the players’ faces.

“We have dominated for two games against the European champions and even after 80 minutes there was never a moment when I doubted we would win.

Scoring that goal was one of the best moments of my career and I ran straight to the boss because without him I would never have had the chance to play in games like this.

Isn't that nice?

Edit:

"Do I look as if I want to leave?" Flamini said

I'm still buzzing aswell. I'm suprised about Flamini aswell, i always liked him but couldn't quite see him doing anything for us this season and it's nice as hes never played badly and has always given 100% no matter what position he has played in and his hard work has finally payed off. He never had a real chance in his preferred position which is why everyone is really shocked at how he has slotted into the team but he has played in alot of games for us and is experienced which is vital aswell. In 2-so years Denilson and Diaby might really pushing for the central positions.

When I saw the team sheet for the Milan game my first thought was that Diaby could be key man for us. Like, he needs to nail his game tonight. He wasn't stand out tremendous but when I watched the highlights etc. he played played his part massively. I've gone from love to not fussed and back to thinking he can make it. So much talent. Also, Senderos. I can see the Swiss Tony thing happening. Sure, he's a clumsy twat at times but his heart and desire, plus talent, adds up to me thinking he can do the Adams thing, take the rough with the smooth early on and come good. Really good.

the biggest compliment for senderos is that we haven't really missed kolo whilst he's been injured.

and diaby will be a really good player as soon as he learns to figure out when to pass the bloody ball! he's frustrating to watch at times as he seems to hold on to the ball forever whilst players make runs past him.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has reacted angrily to David Bentley's suggestion that Theo Walcott must leave Arsenal to find regular football.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/t...nal/7282512.stm

Obviously still sore about leaving Arsenal. Unfortunately he came about at a time when our front four were Pires, Bergkamp, Freddie (when he was good) and that Henry bloke. He played a season on loan at Norwich then came back and expected first team football. Wenger couldn't promise him it so he let him leave. Wenger has since said that he is "the one that got away" and been very complimentary about him. I don't see why he is so upset. He wanted first team football, he got it. He also had a little dig about training at Arsenal being boring:

'When I was at Arsenal, it was all about statistics and perfect football,' he recalls. 'I don't want to play perfect football. I don't want a cross of mine to be a statistic. Everything I thought football should be wasn't happening at Arsenal. So, six months after signing a five-year contract, I decided to go.

Please don't get me wrong, sometimes I can be rash, but I honestly don't have a bad word to say about Arsene Wenger. He didn't pick me because he had world-class players, but I just wanted to play. But there was no banter there, it was boring. I like to enjoy my time, playing with my mates. This is a great job, I want to play it naturally and I wasn't enjoying it. Enjoyment is everything."

Now I don't know about the rest of you but I thoroughly enjoyed Tuesday night. The very definition for me of enjoyment.

Also Merson's response to Bentley was fucking legendary.

Merson snapped: "If he wants laughs he should be a comedian.

"I don't see anything funny about losing 4-1 at home to Coventry."

Got to love The Merse.

Bentley should shut it really.

He said he left because he wanted first team football, and looking at the players Daley mentioned, he rightly wasn't getting it, if he stuck around who knows but if he couldn't wait then fair enough.

What he's got to do with Arsenal and Walcott I don't know.

If he stuck around and was a bit more patient he might have been playing in the San Siro the other night and not watching Arsenal (and Walcott) on the telly.

Taking into account he's considerably better than Eboue i'm surprised some of you aren't wishing he was still at Arsenal. He should still keep his mouth shut mind.

He is better but he wanted to go so fuck him.

Looks like we have a few injury ptoblems for the weekend.

Arsenal have lost Abou Diaby and Theo Walcott for the weekend trip to Wigan.
"Robin played an hour and he looks OK. But it looks early for him, he finished the game (Colorado Rapids on Thursday) very tired today so I will have to analyse that. We have a little chance to get Kolo back in the squad and a little, little chance to get Song back."
"As for Tomas Rosicky, it is difficult to say. We hope he'll be back in 10 or 12 days."

Is Eboue suspended?

Yes. Last game of three I think. This is also on Arseblog but I hope he has got it wrong as I haven't seen it elsewhere.

Denilson pulling a hamstring in the same game does leave us very short of midfield options. We’ve got 4 left and they’ll be the 4 that start on Sunday I’m sure. Cesc will have to play from the right, Gilberto and the Flamster in the middle and Hleb on the left.
