I think Gallas is a poor captain, he is a whingey, self-centred person. I like him as a player, but to be honest, I think Fabregas is a better captain.

The Gallas question is an interesting one. Watching the interviews after the 2-2 with United I thought Wenger had made a great decision giving him the arm-band. It seemed like he had the talent and the passion for the job. I think we can dismiss Saturday’s behaviour as a one-off caused by some extreme circumstances and he’s still the right man for the run in. In the long term it’s got to be Cesc.

Is that true? That can't be right, they can't have allowed that to happen, surely?

Absolutely. The offer of a new deal was a long time coming and he has every right to assess his options. If Arsenal did lose him it would ultimately be their own fault.

One Gary Lewin.

Fucking mint

I'm really puzzled by this... I can't quite imagine why he would want to leave at this point. He's firmly cemented himself as a first team player this season, and now that Diarra's left and Gilberto's seemingly past it, he's unlikely to have any serious competition any time soon.

He also looks to have a great understanding with the other midfield players, and particularly an ideal partner in Fabregas. Arsenal are looking great this season and even if they don't win anything this year will be well set to push on next year.

How could things be better for him? It's not as if he's a massive enough 'star' to walk into any top club, and he's still young enough that he's got time to do something different later in his career should he decide. To leave now would be a bizarre decision.

Daley mentioned it a while back, it's all about the dollars. Apparently the offer is £50k but he'll fancy getting that up to £60k no doubt. I hope he looks at how Cashley's getting on and sees what happens when you fuck around for a bit more money. You get hated and it's more or less always downhill after Arsenal.

We simply musn't allow Flamini to leave. Surely everyone just needs to be a bit sensible here, he needs to be sensible with his demands and Arsenal need to be sensible with their offer. I'm sure if Wenger and Flamini were allowed to sit down and discuss things everything would be sorted easily, it's just when you have agents and directors (not that I imagine any directors at Arsenal get too involved with players, but there is a question of money here) getting involved things can get a little complicated.

Flamini is surely the most improved player in the league this season and lately he's been looking more and more like future captain material.

Anyone else see him after the Eduardo incident the other day, going around and speaking to all the players.

We simply cannot and should not allow him to leave. It would be a disaster, especially as that wanker fucked off, what's his name again?

That's been him all season. He's Mr Perpetual Motion and he's always talking and gesturing in a positive way. I saw Owen Hargreaves play for United a day after we'd played and although he's a good player he gets it, gives it and stands still. He didn't seem to talk either. I'm not saying that's wrong but Flamini just impresses the hell out of me.

It's actually quite incredible how much he's improved. If he left last summer we might not have noticed. He's gone from that, to being one of the most important players at the club all in barely 8 months.

It's obvious aswell that this transformation is down to his fantastic attitude and determination.

Please sign the godforsaken contract!!

I just find it hard to understand how anybody could care about the difference between £50k and £60k. Surely once you're on £10k+ per week that's more than you know what to do with?

Clearly some players do, but I guess Flamini comes across as such a decent guy on the pitch that I naively assume he's a decent guy off the pitch. It seems impossible to imagine earning "only" £50k a week would drive you away if you're settled in London, get on well with your team mates, and have a regular starting place in a quality team in your favourite position.

But I'm sure Wenger is well aware how important Flamini is (and he wouldn't have sold Diarra if he thought Flamini was leaving, surely?) so there must be something going on. If there was no problem surely Wenger would've made sure to get sorted out quickly.

Someone at work lives down the road from Flamini and was only telling me yesterday that he sees him around quite regular and that he's a really good guy.

This was coming from a sp**s fan too. He said he would like to hate him but he can't as Flamini is such a good bloke.

Shit, I should have asked him to ask Flamini the next time he sees him, what his plans are.

As he knows him, maybe Flamini will tell him and not tell him to do one and mind his own business.

I doubt they thought he'd become this good and i also doubt that he won't sign a new contract and sign for another club like Juventus, purely because he has said that he loves this club and because Juve bought momo sissoko in january.

I've been clinging to that one too ;) . If they could get him for free though I'm sure they would.

I really hope he stays, he has been an excellent servant, especially at left back.

He was outstanding in that run.

I feel upbeat, I feel confident,” he continued. “The goals helped and they gave me a boost so hopefully I can take that into Saturday.

It was nice to get a poacher's goal. My agents have told me I need more of those. Then the second was more about the kind of player I am. Left-foot too, which is something people have questioned me about.

Just read this on Arsenal.com and I can't believe he said his agent, his agent for fuck sake?

Not having a go at Theo, but his agent and not Wenger told him that?

How involved are these people with their players?

Why is his agent telling him how to play football?

I'm fairly sure the Flamini thing is just an agent leaking stuff to the papers to scare a bigger salary out of Arsenal. Presumably the agent would prefer him to go to a new club as he'll get a percentage of the signing on fee which is bound to be pretty high if they don't have to pay a transfer fee to Arsenal.

Either way they should have tied this up during the window before he was allowed to speak to any other clubs. Silly stuff really and not the Arsenal norm at all.

Scanning the "Theo diary" in the official mag is like reading science fiction - e.g sisters birthday tomorrow so bought her a new car, bought bro in law new iphone etc etc etc. Totally unreal.

On the Flamini issue, I believe his father is from Rome. It could be the Flamini family home in Marseille is a shrine to Juventus or one of the Rome clubs which could influence any decision. A bit like mamma Ronaldo waving the picture of her kid in a Real Madrid shirt. I really hope he does not leave but the delay in sorting out a new deal seems ominous.

Juventus have revealed that they have contacted Arsenal to inform them that Mathieu Flamini is not being targeted for a Bosman move to Turin.

The Serie A giants have been linked with a move for the France midfielder, who is out of contract in the summer, after showing a preference for free transfer deals recently.

Renewed speculation this week has indicated that the Bianconeri are keen on landing the former Marseille man but sports director Alessio Secco has responded to the reports.

"There is nothing true about our interest in Flamini," he told Juventus' official website.

"He is a good player, there is no need to emphasise this, but we have never tried for him.

"So much so that, this morning, we put [Jean-Claude] Blanc in touch with Arsenal to reassure the London club.

"A gesture of openess between two great clubs like Juventus and Arsenal should exist and that has been appreciated."
