It's obvious we don't care about this game, but it is infuriating we let that attitude translate onto the pitch in such an obvious way. There's little point in turning up for the second half.

At least this game seems to be magnifying the lack of effort some of our players are willing to put in, and also the clear lack of ability some others possess.

We just don't seem to care and it infuriates me. Big players like Fabregas and Hleb just don't seem to care, i'm sick of Eduardo playing on the left he's wasted there.

Agree... we are really missing Flamini and Adebayor... and I've not seen Hoyte ant Traore play so badly in a while...

I would personally rest alot of players and stick a few of the reserves in today to keep the 1st teamers (what we have left) for Milan. I just don't see the point in risking the likes of clichy, adebayor and flamini when they aren't fully fit. They've been some of our best players this season and we can't take a risk on them.

Yeah, nice one... :P

Personally i woudn't have played Toure, Hleb or Fabregas and just stuck a real reserve team out. Plus i would've played Eduardo up top. We need to get this out of our system, we've done so well this year and have suprised alot of ppl with our hunger and desire. This was non-existent yesterday.

Yeah Saturday was just an absolute load of bollocks, can't remember a game where we've been so outplayed. I'm still with Wenger though in the team selection, obviously I didn't want us to get hammered like we did but out of the Milan game, the game against Utd in April or the FA cup game, if we were to get slaughtered in one I know which game I would choose.

Anyway, moving on from that it's obvious that Wenger, and the players, have the CL and much more so the league as the priority this season. If we go on to win the league then Saturday will quickly be forgotton but if we end the season without a trophy then it will be a lot harder to forget about Saturdays result.

There's no more shit games now, no more unimportant games. Every game from now until the end of May is a cup final.

I'm quietlty confident about the league and also quite confident that we'll get passed Milan and after that who knows. We need to move on from the this seasons Cup shenanigans, get everyone fit and really go all out now in every game that's left to play.

I really beleive this can still be, and will be, a memorable season for all the right reasons.

COME ON ARSENAL!!!!!!!!

I've not been more glad to miss a game of football than I was Saturday. I skipped through it on Sky+ last night and jesus shitting christ we were awful. I've said it before, Flamini has been our most important player this season, without him shielding the back four we look extremely vulnerable. Particularly with no Clichy and Sagna (Traore was dreadful, again). That coupled with Gallas and Kolo playing like they'd never met each other. Gilberto was, as always this season, completely ineffective defensively and awful going forward.

Anyway, Milan. That will be a test, no Ronnie for them but they've a couple of young frighteningly talented youngsters coming through.

did I read that wenger was blaming the pitch?

No, not really. Just saying it was shit.

Well, I was certain we were going to lose that game and I kept telling myself it wouldn't bother me when we did but there was osmething about how we lost that really pissed me off. Pretty spinless.

So, who wants to help me get Eboue shot out of a cannon and into the sun?

If I never see the fucknut in an Arsenal shirt again it'll be too soon.

Just got this through email - 'Wengers View, The Official Managers Email'

As for the rest of the season, the targets in front of us are very clear. They are the Premier League and the Champions League. We are not in a position where we have to make a choice. We just have balanced fixtures now and we need to pick ourselves up quickly because we have a massive game on Wednesday.

Of course we are back at Old Trafford in April for the Premier League game and you will see a different Arsenal team then. We will be in a different shape when our injuries clear up and I hope the pitch will be in a different shape as well.

Another dig about the pitch... so to speak.

There were two teams playing on that pitch on Saturday.

Edit - actually, fuck that. How can anyone blame a comprehensive 4-0 defeat on a bad pitch? Arsenal didn't even show up, it was a spineless, half-hearted performance and the players just didn't want it, you could see from the get go in the way they set themselves about the match. There was no effort, no drive. I have great admiration for Arsenal and I've warmed to Wenger in recent years, but he's coming across as an idiot here. He's never been able to take a defeat on the chin.

Yes, there were two teams. Interesting that they scored from crosses, ie getting it off the floor from the start. You're right of course, the pitch can't be totally blamed but are you saying it was right and Arsene's comments weren't even the tiniest bit fair enough? Do you think United made the best of their pitch for our visit? Should Old Trafford host teams on a pitch like that? And I'm more comfy that he blames the pitch and not our crippling injury list which is by far the easier excuse and one no sane person could argue.

As for not taking a defeat on the chin, see also every successful manager ever. Arsene gets a bad press but it's no worse than Ferguson or Mourinho do after most defeats. I think it's a bit of an easy dig at the bloke along with 'I didn't see it' which he has said plenty but it's more than likely true. Ever sat in the front row at a match and seen anything clear cut? I wouldn't expect him to not defend his team when he hasn't had sight of an incident.

Regarding "spineless, half-hearted performance and the players just didn't want it" I agree :) . Sad to see but it was obvious that the two bigger prizes are the priority. Say Helb and Cesc went at it and got injured. And Adebayor. We're fucked as it is. It still stuck in my throat and you are correct but I half understand it. And I feel pretty low typing that.

Your fundimental issue there was not having a plan b, ie. take to the air if required, get some space down the wings and knock some crosses in.

As for not taking a defeat on the chin, see also every successful manager ever.

I can think of several - Ramsey, Bobby Robson, Clough, Shankley (discounting when they got stuffed 5-0 by Ajax), Paisley, Kendal, Busby, Jock Stein, Birkenshaw, Nicholson and many more, everyone a winner, all a class act.

As for "Show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser, etc..." I can think of many sportsmen who are as succesful in their field as footballers and their managers and take defeat on the chin without don't look for excuses beyond their own performance - it's a problem with the modern day game - watch ESPN and "the dead good match" for all the 80's games, muddy pitches, big games and none of the hysterics or constant moaning at the ref. The tackles are harder and they act like men not a bunch of kids.
