It will depend very much on any injuries we get. We're only a few away from having a far from first choice midfield or defence. It is worrying, but its the test of a winning team which we might just have to take on the chin. Either way, any victory will be well-earnt.

Hopefully a few people will come back from injury soon and we can rest those who have played loads of games. We will rest players on Saturday, no doubt about it.

Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Eboue are in contention for Saturday's FA Cup tie at Manchester United.

The Ivorian duo returned from the Africa Cup of Nations on Monday and are due to report for training today. Neither Toure or Eboue played in their country's final game in Ghana, the third and fourth place play-off against the hosts on Saturday, but they could feature at Old Trafford.

Arsène Wenger admitted before the Blackburn game that he was down to the "bare bones" thanks to injuries and international commitments. Manuel Almunia, Abou Diaby, Tomas Rosicky, Robin van Persie, Denilson and Johan Djourou were all sidelined for Arsenal’s 2-0 victory but Rosicky could return at the weekend.

"Kolo and Eboue came back today [Monday] so we hope to see them tomorrow to see if they're not injured," said Wenger at his post-match press conference.

"Rosicky, he looks better. Van Persie looks better, but he is still a few weeks away. But Rosicky maybe has a little chance for Saturday."

I would say that we're already at that stage. Gilberto has completely lost the effectiveness from his game, and we're having to resort to playing Cesc on the right.

Maybe I'm getting unduly worried.

It's amazing how quickly Gilberto has gone from being one of our best players last season to someone who looks like it's the first time he's seen a football every time he puts on an Arsenal shirt.

As for RVP, it's a bit worrying that he's still 'a few weeks away'. Maybe the 2nd leg against Meelan is a realistic target? (4th of March)

Also:

Emmanuel Adebayor has revealed that Thierry Henry is helping to keep him motivated for the title run-in.

The Togolese striker scored his 19th Premier League goal of the campaign on Monday night as Arsenal beat Blackburn 2-0 to go five points clear at the top of the table.

It is a far cry from the pre-season predictions of doom and gloom; much of which was based on Henry’s departure to Barcelona. Since then Adebayor has filled his shooting boots with aplomb but the Frenchman is still having an influence.

"Thierry to me is like a big brother,” said the 23-year-old in the tunnel less than an hour after the match. “He already sent a message to me after the game to congratulate me.

"He talked to me a lot during the summer when he was leaving, he calls me and we have a lot of chats. He believes in my strength and my quality so I just want to thank him a lot because he helped me out a lot.

"A lot of times he sends me messages saying that I may have scored 15 or 16 but I know you can score more if you concentrate in every game.

"That is what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to listen to the advice and at the moment it's working so I'm very happy. I think Thierry keeps in touch with a lot of people [here]."

We've got Toure, Eboue and Rosicky back pretty much immediately. Not sure on Diaby but I haven't heard that it's a serious one. van Persie will come back and chip in with some goals. We've got Hoyte to come in plus Bendtner so we can rest players in selected games. It's not all doom and gloom and all our players are young and fit enough to cope IMO. I was thinking last night, we've not got any excuses now. They're all experienced and know each other like the back of their hands.

I feel a bit for Henry. Clearly he still has a lot of feeling for the club and the players.

It's a bit like Henry is in a fancy VIP section in a nightclub with loads of flash bastards while all his mates are next door in a pub having a great laugh.

I think he's made his own bed. He was a bit too big time at the end. I also think he should leave us to it cos it's none of his business now.

Not forgotten but definitely gone.

Yes no doubt we are better off but it still makes me a bit sad. But there is no doubt it was a good move for the team.

I feel for Henry, it is almost like he has been blamed for us under achieving for the past few years. I'm glad he is still attached to the club and talks to the players regularly.

I've said for a while that all Senderos needed was a run of games for him to grow in confidence and get match fit and now he is repaying the faith shown in him from Wenger. I'd rest Kolo for a bit and jus play Senderos while he is in form so that Kolo can freshen up a bit. Fabregas is wasted on the right i don't want to see him out there again, Gilberto just needs to give it up i hate it when he plays. Adebayor continues to be fantastic and now i just hope we can get most of the players on the treatment table fit as we're gonna need them.

There's always a nagging sense that Senderos will make an error though.

Whilst he got a great goal (the sort of thing he does for switzerland) he was hardly tested by the Blackburn forwards yet still sliced clearances or gave away the ball too easily when clearing.

The season ticket holders all around where I was sitting unanimously agreed that Monday was Adebayor's worst game for a long time.

Still if we can play at an almost walking pace and win 2-0 and open the gap at the top, can't complain too much. ^_^

Rumours of Thuram coming in a joint player/coaching role.

Yes I saw that somewhere recently, can't remember where. Shame he didn't come a couple of years ago when he left Juve.

Tomorrow is getting worse by the hour:

Wenger: "We are down to the bare bones. We have just 14 players and everyone will travel then I will make a decision."

Next Update

Wenger: "Pat Rice is playing. And i'm on the bench."

Wenger backs Premier League plan

Arsene Wenger has given his backing to the Premier League's proposal to play an extra 10 games abroad.

The plan for teams to play a 39th match in five cities overseas on one weekend from 2011 has been much criticised.

But the Arsenal manager supports the idea and told BBC Radio 5 Live: "There's two things I like about it.

"First there is a desire to innovate and be the strongest league in the world and the second thing is to do something for the fans abroad."

Wenger experienced a similar plan to the Premier League's proposals during his time as a manager in Japan.

He also cited the recent success of an NFL match at Wembley as a reason why it could work and said that people have been too quick to dismiss the idea.

"When I came to Japan in 1995 we had to play 20% of our games at a neutral ground," he added.

"At the start I thought it was completely crazy, but it worked tremendously well and games were sold out everywhere we played.

"Just look back, for example, at Wembley and everyone celebrated the Americans playing an American Football game at Wembley.

"It was exactly the same idea. It's nothing different, which is why it is too early to speak against it."

I'm afraid I have to disagree with the great man here, especially with regards to the bottom line. There is a difference with the NFL game at Wembley, that was a part of their regular season (right?) and not an extra game at the end of the season which could potentially change the league table after the 38 "real games" and make things unfair for some teams.

A bit gutted about all these injuries now, it's getting silly.

I thought it would be good to rest a few players tomorrow ahead of the game against Meelan but now anyone who is fit will have to play a part. It's put a bit of a downer on tomorrow's game.

Let's hope we don't get any more injuries tomorrow and most of the injured are back for the CL.

The difference with the NFL games abroad is that there's no competing leagues in those countries. Well, not to any degree of popularity anyway. The countries the Premier League wants to go to already have football leagues and see the PL as trying to take over, or damage them. Which it will.

I would personally rest alot of players and stick a few of the reserves in today to keep the 1st teamers (what we have left) for Milan. I just don't see the point in risking the likes of clichy, adebayor and flamini when they aren't fully fit. They've been some of our best players this season and we can't take a risk on them.
