You made a good profit and you don't need him, so it works out for everyone anyways. I'm taking more of an interest in the top of the table this year as I am so depressed by how shit Southampton are at the moment. ;)

I think we do need him, yeah Flamini is playing out of his skin at the moment but if his form drops or he gets injured or suspended then Diarra is the player I would choose to step in ahead of Gilberto or Diaby.

It's interesting. He's obviously a bit soft but from what I saw he seems like a good player. You don't want an attitude like that in the dressing room though cos if he has words with other players it could have a knock on effect. I mean, if he was promised he'd play - IF - then I can understand that he's miffed but there's no such thing as a guaranteed place and if he didn't know that then good riddance. It'll probably put another £5k on Flamini's weekly wage ;) .

Arsenal needs as few whingy cunts as possible. There have been a few whispering campaigns in the last couple of years and it is good for you to get rid of anyone who doesn't toe the line. Look at Hleb, he was given the chance to come good and he is repaying in spades.

Hleb has been great this season, we have a few players that can knock the ball around but all in deifferent ways which is nice. Hleb is very tricky on the ball, Rosicky tends to use his pace and fabregas stands their and passes but they are all playmakers.

Portsmouth have completed the signing of France midfielder Lassana Diarra from Arsenal for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old joined the Gunners from Chelsea last summer but has been frustrated by the lack of first-team opportunities at the Emirates Stadium.

Diarra will join his new team-mates for training tomorrow and could make his debut in this Saturday's Barclays Premier League match at home to Derby.

Diarra, who has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal, hopes that the move will reignite his career, even though he admits he has ambitions to play for

bigger clubs than Pompey.

The player believes it is important now to start playing regular games in the top flight, particularly with Euro 2008 looming, and he feels that he'll get that at Fratton Park under Harry Redknapp.

"My choice could shock and surprise people, I am very conscious of that," Diarra told the French sports paper 'L'Equipe'. "It is not Arsenal, it is not Chelsea. But I know the Portsmouth manager, I know he is going to play me.

"I need to play. I really want to think about myself, about those who appreciate me, who want to see me a little more on the pitch. I am 22 and the most important thing for me is football, it's my job and my passion.

"I read that Arsenal wanted to keep me. But when you want to keep someone, you do it by playing them. This hasn't been the case. But I am very happy now.

"I feel better already because I know I am going to play and string together some matches."

I just want to pay tribute to him for all his loyal service. I wonder if we will retire his shirt number?

He's a silly boy.

He's a silly boy?

What I think you meant to say is, he's an absolute wanker, a complete waste of time, the moany tosser, showed no ambition, no fight, no belief in Wenger or even himself and his ability that he could eventually force his way into the team.

He can fuck off, good ridance and we don't need players with piss poor attitudes like he has shown.

I missed a bit from the story:

Diarra admits that he will be using Portsmouth to showcase his talents in the hope bigger European clubs come in for him later in his career.

But, for the moment, he is satisfied that he's made the right choice. "The people at Portsmouth know I will not spend my life at this club," he added.

I'm saying nothing.

Diarra, bloody hell, give the guy a break. So he didn't stay and fight for a place, blah blah blah. Fact is that he's got around four or five months now to convince the France coach that he's worthy of a place in the France squad for Euro 2008, and he's not going to get the chance at Arsenal, or at least is unlikely to with Fabregas/Flamini doing so well. It's all well and good saying "give it to the end of the season" or "there's always next season" but he doesn't have that time.

Can you really begrudge a player for wanting to represent their country in a major tournament?

Admittedly his comments are stupid at best, but still.

I hear what you're saying, but he's given up being at a club like Arsenal and gone to Portsmouth just to have a better chance of playing for France, and there's no guarantee he will play any more than he is already. What's he gonna do next season when he's not at a team challenging for everything including the CL, probably ask for a transfer.

I suppose he's really pissed me off because I think he's a very good player and between him and Flamini we had the perfect partner for Cesc.

He has annoyed me because if he really just wanted to play regularly then why didn't he just go on loan till the end of the season? It's also about the money as he prob took a pay cut to come to us and felt hard done by.

I'm gutted that RVP is injured he is having a really bad time of it, he's missed more games than he's played! WE miss him big time.

Oh and i bumped into Bendtner today, man that guy is huge!!

Put yourself in his shoes, would you take the chance? It's easy to call him a nob but his career has to come first. And it does come first, just like when he speaks it comes before his brain thinks stuff.

On another note, how long will it be before Portsmouth change their name to Arsenal Old Boys?

Like i just said, if he just wanted to play more to get in the france squad he could've opted for a loan, but he chose to leave the club that's is y i think he is a nob

What, would the w and h have killed you? Some punctuation perhaps? Come on chap, make an effort - you're barely comprehensible.

It's a shame Diarra couldn't work things out, I think him an exceptional talent - you have to fancy him to do very well at Portsmouth.

As usual Arseblog sums it up nicely. After quoting what he said with regards to not staying at Pompey, Arseblog says:

We’re well shot of somebody with an attitude like that and considering he’s been at two of the biggest clubs in England and fallen short it’ll make other clubs that bit wary of him. Add to that the fact that he has all the backbone of a earthworm and he’s very obviously damaged goods.

Of course people will talk about our midfield options and how we might regret this in the future but I don’t think you can ever regret selling somebody like Diarra. Yes, he’s a good player, nowhere near as good as he thinks he is mind you, but you need guys with character and he doesn’t have it.

That's the bottom line. He wasn't prepared to fight for his place so we don't need someone like that, so good riddance. That's the end of it for me.

What is up with RvP? He is very fragile and seems to spend ages out when he does get injured. He's a good player but this has happened three years running.

Will be tough against Fulham tomorrow. I'll be there, looking forward to it, first visit to the Cottage.

Hope we can get the three points as Man Utd and Chelsea both have games they should win (Reading and Birmingham respectively, both away).

I fancy us to beat Fulham, I'll go for 3-1, but I also think Man Utd and Chelsea will win.

Last comments on Diarra, as I think I've pretty much said everything I have to say about him.

“I signed for three and a half years. But I trust myself I will quickly bounce back higher. It could be next summer, next year or later.

What are the odds on him looking for a move in the summer (after the Euros of course)

"About the interest from Lyon; I will be very clear. At first England was my priority. Then in France, they could not pay my wages," he concluded.

According to Diarra I suppose it's not about playing for clubs like Arsenal or Chelsea it's about money.

If I shine, if a really big club wants me, I already know that everything will go well. I don't want any more battles."

Arsenal or Chelsea were not big enough obviously, and you've got to admire his fight - up for any battles that might come his way.

Good riddance to the dumb fuck!
