Yes but you also think that Adebayor is shit

Ok, Bergkamp and Henry. That was an exceptional partnership.

Do you honestly think that RvP and Adebayor will come close to having even half of the understanding that Henry and Bergkamp did?

You seem to have mistaken your opinion for a fact.

I didn't say they had an exceptional partnership, though together in my opinion they are a dangerous duo. How do you know they won't have a successful partnership? They played alot last season together and we were winning games as a result. Your prob is that you always have to compare players to the past players and you never see the bigger picture. RVP isn't the new bergkamp he is RVP and Adebayor isn't the new Henry he is just Adebayor. They are Arsenals' new generation and have their own styles.

I'm not convinced that Henry / Bergkamp was actually great as a partnership. Truly phenomenal players, but not especially reliant on a good partnership. I think Bergkamp clicked more with Freddie and I'd put Wright / Campbell or Smith / Merson above them as a proper partnership.

I reserve the right to revise that in the morning :D .

No, you didn't say that. You said they were a formidable partnership. They're banging in goals, but they certainly don't play for each other, which to my mind is the essence of a great partnership. I'm actually trying to think of a really good current prem sriking partnership - the only example that possubly springs to mind is Rooney/Tevez/Ronaldo, but that's not what we mean in the convential sense. Can anyone think of one? Bloody rotation!

IMO, Henry and Bergkamp were an exceptional partnership (or smith/merson if you prefer :o) and I was using that as an example. I never said that RvP or Adebayor were the new Bergkamp or Henry, you have mistakenly construed my example. It's unfair, if anything else, to label players as the new this or that, and they never live up to the weight of expectation.

The bigger picture? Ok, since Wenger's arrival Arsenal have been hamstrung by an overreliance on one or two key players. For example, Cesc's recent absence. Despite having plenty of midfielders, no-one could fill the gap. Our manager is tactically inept. Despite 4-4-1-1 not really working since we went to Newcastle, Wenger steadfastly refused to change it for several matches. What was there to lose by sticking Bendtner or Walcott or Eduardo up top with Adebayor? If it didnt work he could have changed it. Our manager's stubborn refusal to buy established players is another failing. Gallas is arguably the greatest of all his recent signings, yet his arrival at the club was exceptional compared to the Wenger norm. Worst of all, despite everyone pretending the issue had gone away, our club is still at the mercy of a Russian "businessman" with it surely bring a matter of time before it falls into foreign hands.

Your problem is that you think sticking Theo on will solve everything or, in other words, you jump on the latest bandwagon. Were you really happy going into this season with Adebayor/RvP as out first choice strikers, with 2 teenagers and an unproven Crozilian as back-up? You spent all last season saying Baptista was great when it was patently obvious he was shite.

We're both Arsenal fans. You don't have to defend them so belligerently.

Sorry for the rant! booze and keyboards not a good thing.

I was fully expecting us to drop points here and Utd. to widen the gap, thank god football doesn't listen to me!! Really happy for Eduardo, and although thye recent red cards are bad, I like that we seem to have got a bit of a nasty streak back.

Whatever happens this season, that was an amazing result. I know it was two late goals, and the result flattered us maybe but Everton won't lose too many games at home this season and won't concede 4 home or away too many times.

Was pleased to see Eduardo score, the relief after the first one was clear. And another two lethal finishes just underlines the fact that he needs to play as a centre forward, none of this messing about on the wing. He reminds me a bit of Fowler. (Fowler about ten years ago, not the one playing the "who has got the fattest ass" competition at Cardiff with Hasselbaink now.)

When did i say it would solve everything? The point is Theo is an arsenal player with alot of talent, so yes when things aren't going so well i'd like to see the manager change things and bring him on. Yes i was happy going into this season with adebayor and RVP as they're great talents and it was time for them to prove it, i'm still happy with the forwards we've got. You don't need to spend big money to have a top striker even though you seem to think so. Was it obvious Baptista was shite? I think not, rather that he hadn't played in a long time and was getting back into football, he was also played out of position the whole time he was with us and if you actually watched other leagues than the premiership you'd see that Baptista is doing very well at Real Madrid playing in his preferred central midfield position. Oh and he just scored the winner against Barca. Shite i think not, just not managed properly.

It was a fantastic result for us. We scored three very un Arsenal like goals which is great really as it shows we can finally score the scrappy goals. Eduardo showed exactly why he has such a good goal scoring record with both finishes, he has got to be one of the best finishers in the league i just hope he starts kicking are now. Adebayor showed that if you have a great work ethic, then sometimes you get lucky, not many forwards would've chased that ball but that's adebayors way.
