Denilson's challenge was pretty poor, but it didn't warrant a reaction like that from Savage. I remember the days when it stated in the rules that raised arms warranted a red card. Actually, it still does.

I've said it time and again, but Savage is an utter cunt and he doesn't deserve to be a professional footballer. Yes, the challenge was terrible, but who the hell does Lily think he is taking the moral high ground like that? Cock.

Eduardo once again-our best natural striker.

Agreed about Diarra. Having him, Diaby, Gilberto, Flamini and Cesc competing for 2 positions is ridiculous! Was also very impressed with Diaby, everything about him was pure Viera tonight, including slyly nailing Warnock near the end :)

Yes, the challenge was terrible

I really don't believe the challenge was all that. I think he slid in horizontal to the player (if anything, Dunn slid across Denilson and was nowhere near the ball when Denilson slid to get it) and although it was 'two footed' I don't think he went for the player. I think it was a committed attempt to get the ball. I don't think those types of challenge are in Denilson's game at all. There was one on him in the first half that went straight through the back of him and was far worse. And I genuinely think that the reaction of the two Rovers players changed it from free kick to straight red. On all the slow mo's leading up to the tackle it was interesting to see Savage hacking at one of ours with that trademark grimace and little twitch that meant he was after someone. His reaction was, as ever, a disgrace. My missus even knows about him, funnily enough, and she hates football.

Anyway, we were superb on the night  . Diarra was great. He uses his body so well and he'll run all day. I'm almost afraid to say that I've liked Song every time I've seen him this season. I think he's edged ahead of Senderos for me. Hoyte showed tremendous spirit too. It was utterly embarrassing for Blackburn in the first half and aside from their really good spell after the break we outclassed them.

Diarra was superb. It was nice to see him dismiss the questions about wanting to leave/"showing the manager what he could do". Did anyone see the post match interview? He just basically said "Yes I want to play." And that was about it, despite the interviewer continuing to push the point about him leaving etc.

You said there exactly what I was going to say about Song. I'm not sure what has happened to Senderos but i'd rather see Song play than him. Bringing the ball out for the third goal showed his confidence and he looks comfortable on the ball and maybe next to someone other than Phil he can do a job. Maybe?

Eduardo showed last night why Wenger bought him. He is a lethal finisher. Forget this left wing bollocks, right down the middle is where he plays. He was never in any danger of missing those chances. Top draw finishing.

Yeah, I caught that - I was struck by how comically tiny he looked next to Bendtner. He must be all of, what, 5'6"? Brilliant performance though - between him and Flamini we have the best two defensive midfielders at the moment.

Agreed he looks much more dangerous straight down the middle - his finishing is clinical but I don't think he does enough to justify a regular start in the Premiership, he pretty much just hangs off the shoulder of the last defender, an indulgent kind of player to have in modern football - particularly given Wengers tactics. That being said you won't hear me complain too loudly if he starts burying goals in the league on a regular basis.

No you are probably right. "Just" scoring goals is not enough to get in this Arsenal team, and truth be told, has never been enough for Wenger. Everyone has to do everything. Which is why I think he is making Walcott play wide. He might be a very good "Owen" type finisher but Wenger wants more.

Lethal is the only word. You'd almost put your mortgage on him in a one on one. Those two finishes looked simple enough but the touch, the composure, the perfect striking of the ball. Brilliant. I think his all round game and appreciation has come on too. I really hope he makes it with us.

I paused it and called my missus in to have a look  . Very funny.

Yeah great result last night, and it was good that the game got a bit physical and dirty even as the experience would have done everyone a lot of good. Good to see us giving as good as we were getting too.

Don't really mind who we get in the semis as reallistically we could lose to any of the teams left but we could also beat any of them too. Would be nice to beat Chelsea in the final though.

Is Song turning into a half decent centre back or what?

If Diarra continues to play like that he will get in the team, but mouthing off won't. The more Eduardo plays the more involved he is, he was running his socks off all game and was trying to link up play when he could but i'm guessing he was told to stay on the shoulder of the last defender as Bendtner kept dropping deeper to link things up. Song has played well this season and to me Senderos played pretty well last night, he looks like he is getting better and is definately getting sharper as he plays more games.

I'm just not sure about Senderos, he looked a bit shaky to me and got caught out a couple of times. Song looked pretty good though, very composed on the ball, picks his passes well and he's good in the air too.

I agree about Diarra, he should keep his mouth shut, keep playing well when he's in the side and he'll get his chance. He looked a class above last night.

I know what your saying, Senderos hasn't hit the heights expected of him after he burst into the side a few years ago but he is only 22 and we've seen the quality he just needs to get sharper and hopefully this competition will do him the world of good. I was hoping that he'd go out on loan as for me he just needs to playe regularly at the mo to reach some sort of consistency.

I have to say I have been puzzled about what exactly Wenger sees in Song but last night I thought he played a blinder - much better than Senderos. There were a few mistakes but for a fairly short guy he seems to have good spring and is effective in bringing the ball out as well. All round brilliant performance by the team which showcased durability as well skill.

Shame the Blackburn public couldn't be arsed to turn up

What is it with that neck of the woods at the moment? Is it just a protest over ticket prices or is there something more going on? Blackburn play a decent game of football and have been relatively successful over the last few years - yet Ewood Park always seems half empty, even Bolton get a bigger crowd.

Nice comments from Hughes there, makes a change!

The usual from Terry:

What a tosspot, of course not commenting on the SWEET ironing as he shouldn't have been on the field. Of course, he may say the same about Eboue, who DID apologise. Note the last paragraph:

"There is still no official word on the length of time Eboue will require to recover from the knee injury he suffered when chopped down by Joe Cole in the second half. It's not thought that any Arsenal player accused Cole of deliberately injuring Eboue, or that Cole apologised afterwards."
