Arsenal do have the ability to spend the same cash. but dont what happens when you dont? Are ticket prices reduced? are fans passed back these savings? Of course not. I want my team to spend as much as possible provided its within their means.

In fairness, Emirates cost quite a few quid, mate.

It was built with cheap labour though... Wenger imported the brickies from Eastern Europe and Africa.

And he had Walcott doing the cabling in the crawlspace between the roof supports...

Great to see that our game is live on Setanta tonight.

It's really clever how they've managed to isolate us fans even further by spreading the games across more subscription channels. The utter fucking cuntholes  .

But isn't it great reading how many billions they sold the rights for? <_<

On the other hand it gives you a great opportunity to get down the pub.

XFM, local? <_<

There's more than one XFM? Honestly don't know. The one I listen to is 97.7 XFM Manchester.

I only listen to it for the Utd games and just presumed it was local, as they took it and the commentators from their sister station, Century (which is NW).

Well, that and it's name

It's shite, innit. More choice? Nah, more cost.

It's seemingly been at the expense of midweek games, too. Really miss them, I can remember some of the classic Utd-Arse games from years gone by. Quality games because of the real competition, but I'm sure the time made the crowd more up for it.

I did wonder about those new channels (well, new in as much as I've only just noticed them, I don't get to watch Sky very often). I figured they hoovered up all the games which weren't shown, but they've actually bid on stuff that would have otherwise appeared elsewhere (ITV or whatever)?

All a bloody con, tbh. Individual team channel, all the matches, job done. Except that'd be too easy, eh.

Arsène Wenger may strengthen in one position during the transfer window — but he will not say which one.

When he spoke ahead of the Reading game, Wenger was far from guaranteeing a new name but he would seize on the chance to strengthen if the right player came along in the right position.

“It is not impossible,” he said. “I don’t think I will get anybody in but if I get one opportunity in one area then I will not neglect it.”

The manager remained tight-lipped when asked about the area in question.

A goalkeeper, surely?

Wide man maybe? or should we just give up on a wide man?

Firstly yes there is premium on English players thats why Arsenal paid 8mil for Jeffers and 4 for Wright.

Also what you define as over the odds? If buying Carrick at 14.5-18 wins the League is that not success how could it be defined any other way?Being champions brings more revenue and spending what the club has on players rather than 'saving' this cash and returning dividends to shareholders or board members - I as a fan would rather the former. Arsenal do have the ability to spend the same cash. but dont what happens when you dont? Are ticket prices reduced? are fans passed back these savings? Of course not. I want my team to spend as much as possible provided its within their means. How this can make you a better manager I dont know - a better negotiator maybe, but then again negations are not even handled by mangers but the financial department( Kenyon at his time at United helped these prices!)

Arsenal have a much larger catchment area under the revised league system for signing youngsters so should have a better youth policy yet continue to poach youngsters like every other club.

The point is Fergie cannot moan about other managers not having english players in their squad when the core of his was bought, with shit loads of money per player.

Reading were doing a good job of frustrating us and making us act under pressure but thank god Flamini poped up there with a goal before half time. Maybe Reading will try and come at us a bit more in the 2nd half, giving us a chance to knock a copule more passed 'em.

Well, that's what I hope will happen.

It did look a bit intentional. to be fairwe have more than enough central midfielders that could do a job for us in fabregas' absence. I'd still like to see walcott over eboue i know eboue defends alot better but walcotts more direct, plus i'd like to see him upfront with a target man. Hleb is the man he has been such a major factor of us being where we are now.

Well I sent it to Football 365. :)

Can't believe there is yet another international break coming up. It's been stop start this season, or seems to be.

Anyway here is who we have until the end of the year, hopefully with Van Persie back.

24 Sat Barclays Premier League H Wigan Athletic

27 Tue Champions League A Sevilla

1 Sat Barclays Premier League A Aston Villa

5 Wed Barclays Premier League A Newcastle United

9 Sun Barclays Premier League A Middlesbrough

12 Wed Champions League H Steaua Bucharest

16 Sun Barclays Premier League H Chelsea

18 Tue Carling Cup A Blackburn Rovers

22 Sat Barclays Premier League H Tottenham H.

26 Wed Barclays Premier League A Portsmouth

29 Sat Barclays Premier League A Everton

Some very tricky games in there. 7 are away and just 4 at home in our next 11 games. Not only that but it is a packed schedule. 11 games in 36 days, that's roughly a game every three days. Also includes our game in hand against Newcastle.

We will see if this team is the real deal after that batch of fixtures I reckon.

"Just looking at Adebayor as a technician and as a player, that is what every striker should aspire to. He is just fantastic."

That's what I've been saying all along :( . His goal yesterday was a first class finish.

Yes, well pleased to see him on the scoresheet again after working hard with little to show for it recently.

Insufferable 10 day break to endure now.

At least the games will come thick and fast in December as in Daley's post.
