As I've said in the other thread guys, I really admire Jol. Offering his resignation and then winning the game would be magnificent, securing his job for that little bit longer. As it is he did bow out with dignity and pride. Good man.

I maintain that Adebayor is far from convincing, but the guy has had a very good start to the season. If it continues, I'll be happy to be completely wrong :o

He's had three good games this season. He was the weakest link against Prague. He was a donkey against Bolton as well. Rounding the keeper then knocking it too far and falling over. Idiot.

I can't understand why one incident gets highlighted but his goals don't. He's scored some really good goals.

He does, but I'd agree he's unlikely to be the most prolific goalscorer ever. I don't agree that a forward has to be an out and out goalscorer though - Adebayor spends much of the game holding the ball up, chasing down defenders and acting as a target to hit up front - I've found him particularly impressive in the flesh. He never stops, and as Heskey proved for England recently, that is a critical role. If you've got a strike partner who can tuck them away like RVP and a midfield who can contribute a number of goals then someone like Adebayor is crucial, he adds another dimension to Arsenals game. Drogba was one of Chelsea's most important players over their two league titles and, at that stage, he rarely hit the target.

Yeah, I'm hearing that. That's how I see it. The team is ticking very nicely just now and Adebayor is very much part of that. His presence puts defenders in two minds cos we're more likely to put crosses in lately.

On another note, Fabregas's range of passing is incredible :o . There were a couple of real quarterback long rangers on Tuesday and the reverse ball for Hleb's goal was so special. When he's playing like that he makes the game look so easy. He always has two more yards of space than anyone else. His second goal was out of this world, how he got into the box I'll never know. I always said he has no pace!

I sit on the side of the pitch where Hleb was in acres of space for that move and before I could scream "give it Hleb" Fabregas had seen him and given it to him. I love that little guy. :)

Adebayor is not great to watch, will probably never be top scorer but an absolutely essential player to have in the squad if you ask me.

I can't decide about Adebayor to be honest, there's times when it seems I'm trying to convince myself that he is a good player and times when he looks shit hot, like the game against Spurs for example.

If I had to say, I would probably say he does give us something different, does a lot of the uspectacular stuff like holding the ball up and bringing other people into play, making runs to make space for others and basically just being a nuisance and a handfull for defenders.

On the downside, he's not prolific and probably never will be, he manages to fuck up some easy looking chances and for his size and build he should really be more of a handfull for defenders.

All that said he is young, 23, and he has improved loads since he came to Arsenal, so if he keeps improving then possibly he could turn into a Drogba one day - maybe.

I do like him, he always looks up for it and gives us 100% but I wonder if someone like Dean Ashton would do a better job. When we played WH recently he caused us so much problems, he must be a nightmare to mark.

Another similar player who, from the little I've seen of him so far, looks like he could turn out to be an absolute quality player is Kenwyne Jones at sunderland. When Roy Keane bought him I thought who? and at £6million I thought he'd lost it. Jones has scored 3 goals in six games for Sunderland and last week against WH he was absolutely brilliant, just fantastic. If anyone saw MOTD2 I'm sure they'll agree with me, he was an animal, his all round game was just excellent, clever runs, holding the ball up, winning headers easily, defenders couldn't even get near him and to top it all he scored a superb header. He's definitely one to watch and it'll be interesting how he develops under RK, he's also 23. If Drogba leaves Chelsea I wouldn't be at all suprised if they go for him, and the price won't be anywhere near £6million either.

I’d be surprised if that happened. Surely Liverpool have to be on their best behaviour after last Saturdays match?

Anyway, Theo to start or a to come on as a second half impact substitute when Liverpool start to tire?

could just wait for hyypia to stick another one past his keeper... :o

Interesting little article on the BBC website where they are trying to work out why we are so shit hot!

'Examining the Fabregas factor'

Cesc Fabregas's stunning form is perhaps the biggest reason for Arsenal's superb start.

The 20-year-old Spaniard has always been an excellent passer and this year he has made 558 passes and found his team-mates with 79% of them.

But he has also developed as a goalscoring threat from midfield, which Arsenal have lacked since the departure of Robert Pires.

Fabregas has scored nine goals this season already, with five coming in the Champions League and four in the Premier League - whereas he managed only four goals in all competitions in the previous campaign.

Aren't you worried about some late season burnout from him, though?

It is a bit worrying beacause even though we have many quality central midfielders there is only one Cesc.

Hopefully we'll be able to rest him now and again and he'll stay clear of injury because he is without doubt our most important player.

Adebayor does so much for the team and i've said it time and time again that in the modern game not every striker needs to score 20+ goals a season. These days midfielders tend to chip in with goals and its more about "team play" rather than individuals, lets be honest we'd all prefer to have a team of players chipping in with a few goals rather than one player scoring 20. Well i know i would at least.

I was hoping Fabregas would be taken off early against slavia as he does need a rest, at least he won't play in the carling cup. I see sundays game being a good one, i see liverpool as a wounded animal waiting to fight back and we're in fantastic form, i'm guessing most ppl expect 3points but i'd be happy with a draw. That said a really dull 1-0 win for us would be alright ;)

I've been to the last 3 home games and have watch Adebayor fall over, not challenged for headers, chase the ball down, and ruin nearly every touch.

Yes he can get some great goals, but compare his workrate to theo and eduardo and the difference is plane to see. Of course we see his clever bits on MOTD, but what about the other 80 mins?

2 or 3 good games do not a season make.

That said, I am quite happy to be proved totally wrong, but I just dont see it in him.

I also hoped Fabs would get a rest on Tuesday - he's played more or less every minute of every match. That said, he is paid quite a lot of money to do it!

He is clumsy at times but his work rate is fantastic and who else in the team gives us that? That is why he is there, RVP gets you goals, cesc, hleb and rosicky set up goals and chip in with a few. Flamini mops everythin up. Players have their roles in the team which when combined give a great balance to the team.

Hmm, seeing him 'in the flesh' has made me think his work rate is phenomenal. He runs his bollocks off. I'm still not sure that he's a good enough finisher (and still swear that volley was a bit of a lucky accident) but I think he's vital to the squad. Just wish he was a bit less of a donkey at times ;)

Quite a few places are saying that we've yet to play a top 4 side - what the fuck are Man City exactly? We've also played the teams currently in 5th and 6th and got 4 points out of them.

Should have been six but for Lehmann.

I see no reason why Arsenal can't take six points from our next two. I'm going for 2-1 tomorrow and 1-0 against Manyoo.

I love watching Fabregas, reminds me of my favourite Man U player.

Take a guess anyone?

I can only think you're talking about the superb Scholes.

But, to be honest, I can't think of a single player United have had that compares directly to the style of Cesc.

Jermaine Pennant explains why he didn't get games for Arsenal..

"There has got to be something. If you look now there are no English players in the squad, apart from Theo (Walcott) and he's not a regular, even though he's been there for a while now.

"I always felt we got overlooked. The facts speak for themselves. There are no English players in that team so he must have something, not necessarily against them, but that they don't fit into his philosophy.

"He likes the foreign players more. Maybe he believes their attributes are better. And that's his choice."

I assume this translates to an acknowledgement that Arsene doesn't like lazy, pissed up, big time Charlies.
