Yeah, now we're top and rich. Two months ago we were going down the toilet :( .

I loved Freddie and though I always would. But then he went and opened his gob and out pored a load of shit that I thought he would be the last person to utter.

He wouldn't get in the team anyway.

does anyone know where I can see last nights goals?

also, does anyone watch the VODcasts?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MG62Wx_Dtsg

I saw them on Sky Sports News. Both good goals, Denilson's was a cracker. I'm sure the players have been told to shoot more, that's how many from outside the box this year? I didn't expect us to win to be honest but sounds like it was a very good display.

Not seen that VODcast thing before, looks interesting.

Today's Arsenal gossip:

American sports tycoon Stan Kroenke is considering making a public show of support for the current Arsenal regime by attending the club's annual meeting on 18 October. (Daily Telegraph)

Not that they really need to but I think the board should offer him a seat on the board in exchange for his support and his agreement to sign this lock-down thing too. I read somewhere that he was a bit pissed off with Dein for the way he handled things and Kroenke didn't want to do things behind the boards back. Might be a good time to gain his support.

I'd have to say that this has seemed like a very sensible idea for some time. He could drop us in it with the Russian and, although the lesser of two evils, we should probably embrace him and take his intentions in (relatively) good faith.

I went to the game last night. Sat in block 7 in the lower tier, just near the red action lads. Cracking atmosphere and although it took the boys about 10 minutes to get going, I just had a feeling that we would be alright.

Favourite chants - "we pay your benefits", "you're just a small town in Scotland".

The official Lucas review:

Fabianski - Really good positioning and confident handling of the ball. With Almunia I'm always waiting for him to make a mistake, no matter how well he plays. I didn't get that feeling with Fabianski, even when he did something silly he managed to get himself out of a hole.

Traore - Great performace. Strong tackling and ran and ran all night. Final ball was a little lacking until he gave Bentdner a superb cross.

Senderos - Clown. Still looking shaking. He does not inspire confidence. That said, made a vital clearance off the goal line to keep it 1-0.

Song - Actually played really well in defence. Won everything in the air and distribution was good. Has he been replaced by a robot?

Eboue - Quiet, but generally looking pacy. You can tell he has been out for a while.

Denilson - Absolutely top-drawer goal. However was left in the shade by...

Diarra - Immense. Man of the match for me. Very competitive, fierce in the tackle and great distribution. Absolutely bossed the midfield all night. A great signing and would partner Fabregas well.

Walcott - Same old problem, great pace on the ball, absolutely crippled by indecision when he gets a sniff of the opponent's penalty area. Clearly has the talent, but needs to shoot or pass sooner.

Bendtner - Like a slow Henry. Doesn't have a great work ethic, but gets in good shooting position. Doesn't have the pace of the other strikers.

Eduardo - Very very busy. Runs and runs and runs gets in really good positions. Unlucky not to get a goal.

Thanks Lucas, great thumbnail sketches. Wish I could have been there <_<

Anyway the membership pack has just arrived and looks a good'un this year - year book (not the one on sale), book of pre-season photos, DVD, beer mats and bottle opener this time. This year book seems to be packed with facts and analysis of last year's season. Yummy.

Arsenal could be set to expand the Emirates Stadium already.

Following from the clubs announcement of record profits it is believed the Gunners are keen to push on again by expanding their 60,000 capacity.

"It wouldn't be easy and it wouldn't be cheap," a source involved in the original Ashburton Grove project told the Guardian, "but it can be done."

I had heard that the Emirates could be increased to 100k. Nice idea but I'd rather we consolidated our position first. Still, it's only a rumour.

I do feel a bit giddy sometimes. World domination? A real possibility :( .

this can only be done if we significantly upgrade local transport links. the council capped us at 60k as the infrastructure can't handle any more (it already struggles with that). we'd have to pay, or chip in significant sums, for holloway road and drayton park to be completely redeveloped.

i've got that lovely warm feeling in my stomach at the moment about being an arsenal fan..

With the World, and it's motorways, conspiring against me the other night, I missed a lot of the first half, but the second half was really great stuff. Song looked immense at centre back, and his distribution was excellent. Whatever we bought Diarra for, it was too cheap. Talk about all action, the guy was everywhere. I could watch a team performance like that all day, and again we displayed that the team spirit runs through the core of the club. Brilliant all round.

Just £2m apparently. Bargain.

Isn't he like a French international? You can barely get a packet of crisps for that nowadays.

Indeed. I think that's less than what some premier league footballers spend at the bar on a Saturday night.

Here it is:

Chelsea fans may just be questioning the club’s money-men on Thursday after Arsene Wenger revealed the cut-price fee he paid for midfielder Lassana Diarra.

Wenger stole in on the very stroke of the summer transfer deadline to snap up Diarra, a France international who the Arsenal boss knew from the player’s Le Havre days.

Having become surplus to requirements at Chelsea, the 22-year-old decided to join up with Wenger, who could not believe his luck at the price Chelsea were asking.

“We got him and I must say it was for a lot less than the number in the papers – just £2m,” he told The Daily Star.

Diarra was arguably Arsenal’s man-of-the-match during Tuesday’s Carling Cup triumph over Newcastle, and he already looks settled in The Gunners’ slick passing game.

The Frenchman’s arrival could speed up the departure of Brazil international Gilberto, although the 30-year-old midfielder insists he is keen to extend his Arsenal stay.

“After this year I have one more year left on my contract and we will see if I can sort it out, like we did the last time my contract was down to its last 12 months.

“I have always said I want to stay at the club.”

He looks like a very tidy little player. Didn't see Tuesday's game but was impressed with his brief performance last Saturday and looked good last when I saw him for Chelsea.

Yeah, I have no idea why the hell we sold him. I thought it was baffling to be honest. He could play defensive mid or right back, and he played right back better than any of our right backs at the time. Oh well...

His contract was up at the end of the season wasn't it?

To be honest Diarra was probably the least of Mourinho's worries at Chelsea.

I don't know guys. I'm trying to convince myself that if he buys us it won't be the end of the world. That he'll need us to be successful to make it worth his investment. That he can't be stupid and le Boss and the playing side will be left well alone.

It's not working :) . Jesus, you shouldn't be allowed to do this kind of thing.

In other 'bad news' I had a dream last night. Cesc scored again and then promptly did his ligaments sliding on his knees to celebrate ;) .

Actually there is more to be said than that. It could either go the Chelsea way where we become a rich man's play thing or it could turn out that he sees us as an asset that is undervalued and he is trying to make money from us. Apart from their wages the directors do not get any money from us, no dividends or anything, all the money goes back into the club. If he buys us he gets his greedy hands on it all. We also could have the disastrous situation that Man Utd are in where the club is used as an asset to be borrowed against. Their debts are the biggest scandal in English football.

Either way we have absolutely nothing to gain from him taking over. We don't need money and we certainly don't need someone intefering with Wenger.

Please someone make him go away.
