Gunnerblog has a video of my favourite bit of the derby - Sagna's tackle on Huddlestone! Mess with Almunia will you? Have that you fat bastard!

Huddlestone is fucking massive. He came on for the U21s and looked like everyone's dad :) . He's doesn't punch his weight though.

As for Sagna, I like to see that. I'm not one for dirty tackles but to see him getting stuck in this early in his Prem career is encouraging. I really like him as a player. Arsene does it again.

He's hard as nails and a proper right back. Tackles like a train, competes for everything and in his spare time likes charging down the right and laying it on a plate for Adebayor to miss.

This.

Shows just how poor Eboue was defensively. Reminds me of Lauren in his prime.

The jury's still out for me whether he or Eduardo will prove to be our best signing this summer, but he's miles ahead at the moment.

In other news Arsenal News Review Report that 320 arsenal shares have been sold today.

Oh Dear.

In better news I just managed to grab tickets for Wednesday night and Saturday. Saturday should see us hold up at No.1!

I just checked the website, and they're STILL still on sale. General sale to be precise. Anyone could pick some up, if they wanted to...

tempting, but week-day trains on silverlink? bit dodgy, innit?

Didn't realise they had tickets available. I'm going to be using my mates, mates season ticket.

And you have to love a bit of Silverlink of a wednesday night ;)

'Tackles like a train', I'm loving that  .

Lauren. Much, much love. Cracking player for us.

More on this takeover bollocks. I'm getting fed up with it now. It seems to be coming together nicely on the pitch so the last thing we need are distractions from the boardroom.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...nal/7000165.stm

I know we can say it's nothing to do with the players and they're professionals and all that but I hope it doesn't get messy as it's a distraction Arsene and the the team could do without.

Did anyone see goals on sunday on sky? anyway Steve Stone and Alan Thompson were on it and they mentioned how when they were at Villa Doug Ellis and John Gregory were always arguing about everything, money spent/lack of money spent etc. and Stone said you try to be prfessional but these things do filter their way down to the changing room and how it was not a good time at Villa because of all the squabbles.

I'm not saying it's like that at Arsenal but the club needs to be settled and it's better if you don't even know the directors names and stuff and the whole focus of the club is the manager, the players and the football they are playing on the pitch, nothing else.

o/\o

Absolutely, this is exactly how I see it. I wish Red and White would just fuck off and leave my Club alone. I could quite happily thump David Dein in the teeth.

ha ha, amazing scenes:

A YOUNG Arsenal star was arrested on suspicion of carrying a lethal knuckle-duster at the Spurs match on Saturday.

French international Armand Traore, 17, was allegedly caught with the weapon outside a turnstile at White Hart Lane.

The first team squad member, who was not playing, had gone to watch with a pal.

Stewards are said to have seen him acting suspiciously and asked him to turn out his pockets.

Police were called and both men were arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon.

They were taken into custody for questioning and Traore was given a formal warning.

A club insider said: “Armand had no idea he’d done anything wrong because the laws are different in France.”

An Arsenal spokesman said: “He has apologised.”

I said it when this first came up and i'll keep saying it until Dein fucks off; he's a cunt and we don't need him or his mate's dirty money. The financial results next Monday are due to show we are now the club with the 2nd highest income in the world, only Real Madrid bring in more (and it's only ever so slightly more). Each home game generates over £3m. We are top of the league (not saying we will stay there but surely this is a good thing), we have the best manager we could possibly have, building the finest young squad around. What exactly are we going to do with new money? Take a bath in it? They (Dein and Boris the Bullet Dodger) want Arsenal so they can take money out.

I hope the board have the stomach for a fight. I wonder if Kroenke would be tempted by a seat on the board if he pledges his shares to the current board?

I hate that we are talking about something other than football when we are top of the league. Cunts.

We really don't need any 'investors' money at Arsenal.

We (Wenger) started this huge project of the new stadium and selling off the Highbury flats etc. so we would be in a position to compete financially with the biggest clubs around and indeed become the biggest ourselves.

We are still in this transitional period but when we come out the other side we will be proper bigtime, able to compete with anyone. I've said all along that reastically during this period we need to stay in touch with the big boys but must still be in the champions league every season, being honest anything better than this really is a bonus and it's totally down to Wenger that we are this good during the period where we could struggle a bit.

Man utd didn't need to sell out, they generate enough money through merchandise, CL football every year and gate receipts to have not sold out.

Liverpool took the short cut and took the money so they can spend big and compete now but what is it all based on? two investors money? I don't think they are generating what we are/will be. They could have done what we are doing (new stadium) but like I said they took the short cut, where will it end though? They are being a little sensible and not going totally the Chelsea route though, so maybe they realise that the two Americans with the money are not just throwing it in, they will want some kiind of return on their money one day.

Chelsea are a bit different, they have Roman splashing the cash and survive and are able to do what they do simply because of him. They would not have been able to do it without him basically. I don't think he will want to make an overall profit or want his money back one day, because if he decides he does he must realise that Chelsea would be fucked.

Some of the smaller clubs like, no disrespect to say West Ham or Villa, need a backer if they are to step up a level as the 'big 4' are simply in a different league of income to clubs like them. They are not in the CL, don't generate anywhere near as much money so if they even want to have half a chance they need to 'play the game'.

Where it will end for them though, I couldn't tell you.

Wrong. It wasn't a short cut, it was a necessity. Moores (bless him) simply couldn't attract the minor investment required to build the new stadium. We'll be generating a similar amount to you once the new stadium is built, which was the whole point really. And I'll say again; our net spending this summer was around the £25m mark. Hardly a huge investment in the team. Excuse the pedantry but it does grate when I'm constantly seeing the club I support being mentioned in the same breath as the likes of Chelsea in terms of throwing money at transfers and taking short cuts to success.

Now, to get back on topic: I agree with Daley in that it's a terrible shame that you are sitting proudly at the top of the table yet are having to talk about financial matters that should be left in the board room. You should be free to concentrate on dragging up comments from all the 'experts' that you'd be slugging it out with Spurs for the last CL spot thanks to Henry abandoning you.

Your ticket prices are similar to ours then? I'm not boasting about the high cost of following Arsenal, but I don't think you'll generate the income we do if your prices are half of ours.

What did we do? We got loans etc. that we can manage and kept everything else in house. We didn't sell the Club to get a new stadium.

I think it is a short cut when you are able to spend big because of the investoes money and not because of money you have generated. You may have spent £25mill net which I agree is not a massive amount but include the wages involved it's a hell of an investment. When I said short cut I meant you could have built the stadium, with borrowed money (like Arsenal have done) and when the big money starts coming in as a result then spend big but with money you have or that you will earn as a result. Like the Dude said, you didn't have to sell the club to get a new stadium, but doing it the way Liverpool have and not the way Arsenal have to me is a short cut. The funds are available now for you and not in 5yrs.

I did say that your situation is different to Chelsea and you're not just throwing ridiculous amounts of money around like they are.

Anyway, it wasn't meant to be a dig at Liverpool and I didn't intend for the Arsenal thread to become side tracked.

And yeah, I'd rather be talking about us being top of the league, beating Spurs and tonights game rather than some dodgy Russian or American or even David 'Orange bloke' Dein.

We don't know what the ticket prices will be but I'm sure they'll go up a bit when the new stadium opens and considering we'll eventually be getting close to 20,000 more people into our home games than you do I'd say we will be generating a similar amount, yes. Also you haven't sold the club yet. It is now a real possibility and there is a big difference between your situation and ours in that our fans are happy with the sale of the club as the large majority of us believed Moores had taken us as far as he could. We didn't have London prices to fall back on with the new stadium so we couldn't attract the sort of money you could with naming rights etc. It's a completely different situation and I take offense to the insinuation that by selling the club we've taken the moral low-ground, as it were. By that logic, surely selling your naming rights can be seen as a short cut as well.

Anyway, apologies to all you gooners for derailing your thread again. So, er... that Adebayor, eh? I told you he was an important player to have in the squad.

I heard on talk sport yesterday that Cesc is 20/1 to score the first goal tonight (paddy power)

worth a punt surely.

I fancy RVP to score 1st myself and us to win 1-0, quite fancy 1-1 too though which wouldn't be a disaster really.

Any predictions or is it too scary?

Yes, I put £20 on Cesc for that. As for the score? Not sure about this one at all and don't know enough about the spaniards to really make an educated call...so 1-0

Well, they're 100% in their league and an attacking team with lots of talent. Won the UEFA Cup for the past two years. Bit of tester this match, although I can't see us losing it.

Dunno, 2-0?
