Mmm, troubling. Had him in my fantasy team as a pre-requisite (had him last season and he was great) but noticed he just doesn't seem to be anywhere. Hrm.

Wondering whether I should pick Eduardo up front - at the moment I've got one heavily expensive player and one not so, and I'm debating two fairly expensive players in their place. It's a question of proven form vs being a newcomer... so it'd be a bit of a gamble. I know he's a quality player though, so... you can never be sure how players start out in the league.

Not too shabby.

Traore looks good. Bendtner - good goal, still a bit lazy. Song went from 'don't want him anywhere near the squad' to ' reasonable'. Back four was dodgy but grew. Walcott is still a season away. Eduardo was a plus, lively and a good poachers goal, well taken. We deffo miss Fabregas, hope to God he doesn't get injured cos there's no other option. Well, maybe Denilson.

The real plus was the football we try to play. Very easy on the eye. If Hoyte had converted we'd be looking at a real decent team goal.

"Walcott is still a season away."

Yes its early early days...but...

...this worries me, he hasnt shown any Eboue/Clichy style drive or enthusiasm let alone Da Sliva style quality.

I hope he comes good this season or he may miss his chance...

Champs league draw in half an hour...

Yeah... and looking at the list of teams we could face there's one or two I'd rather not. (Spartak Moscow, AEK Athens, Fenerbache). That said I shouldn't really be worrying too much at this stage if we are to be real contenders to win the thing, which I think we are.

He's not exactly going for it, is he? I know what you're saying, I want a bit more from him. Still very young though.

I kind of agree and it is a bit frustrating because I really want him to do well and really grow into this world class player that he's been built up to be, not by Wenger mind more the press.

He does need a bit of time and lets not forget that he only turned 18 in March, he is actually still a kid.

You should look at it more along the lines of "if we can't beat them at this stage we're not going to ever get near to winning it". You're there to win the trophy - yes I know, revenue and all that, but at the end of the day your drive to win should carry you through. Speaking as a Leeds fan - i.e. a team that once were good - a no-fear attitude is sometimes all you need.

I've been to Toulouse, bit of a shithole. Good club though.

Adebayor's picked up an injury and looks like missing the start of the season & CL qualifier.

Also Gilberto will be missing for the first couple of weeks or so of the new season, started or will start pre season late due to the copa america.

Let's hope this isn't a taste of things to come. Surely we had our fair share of injuries last season, they were really enough for a few seasons.

On the subject of walcott i think he played alright yest, he was actually running at players for once and looked like he had confidence. If he continues like that he'll do well this year but i do agree with what ur saying he does need to show more drive.

It's been a pretty good pre season for us and the team is showing a great spirit right now. Van Persie also seems to be relishing the extra responsibility which is great and from what I saw of our little Crozillian against Nazio he's got a great confidence too him and a fantastic work ethic.

Roll on Fulham next Sunday because I am pumped!

Van Persie Unimpressed By 'Weak' Ljungberg Robin van Persie believes his former Arsenal team-mate Freddie Ljungberg should have been more positive in his comments about the 'fantastic' club he left for West Ham...

Arsenal's Dutch striker Robin van Persie has branded former team-mate Freddie Ljungberg's recent criticism of the Gunners as "a bit weak".

Ljungberg A week after saying he would never join another Premiership club out of respect for the Arsenal fans, Sweden captain Ljungberg joined West Ham - and then accused Arsenal of lacking ambition.

Ljungberg said the departure of Thierry Henry confirmed that Arsenal were heading in the wrong direction, and van Persie revealed that Freddie's comments did not go down very well in the dressing room at the Emirates Stadium.

"If you play nine years at a club like Arsenal you can say some nice words," he told the News of the World.

"If you're coming up with excuses about Thierry's departure and about promises from the club it's a bit weak.

"I was disappointed and I know a few others were as well. He had a fantastic period, he was once the best player in England, so come on and say some nice things for this club, which is fantastic."

Good lad

Going back to a possible option for a left winger I think Eduardo's Croatian mate Luka Modric from Dinamo could be a good buy. Seems a bit small but can play on the left and would give us options in the position we are lacking the most, left wing. And gets a few goals too, something else which we lack, goals from midfield.

Standard youtube vid (shockingly bad quality at times).

From the always reliable Wikipedia:

According to several Croatian newspapers, he has already attracted the attention of well-known German clubs like Bayern Munich and Werder Bremen. He is also often mentioned in the same context with the Dutch club Ajax, however he continues to play for Dinamo. Modrić is contracted to the club until 2015, clearly showing to potential buyers that taking Modrić away won't come easy or cheap.

However on July 19, 2007 it was reported that the English side Arsenal won the right of first refusal on Luka Modrić's future transfer.

Unofficial reports subsequently emerged late on July 31 suggesting that Arsenal would take up this option immediately, having failed to lure their unknown primary target for the left wing. They purportedly will pay £8 million for the player.

£8m wouldn't be too shocking. He has played 16 times for Croatia and scored 3 times, not bad for a midfielder. He's 21 though so may be too old for us.
