Yeah it does and i'm not too fussed about it. I ordered the new white away kit last night its grown on me really.

I quite like as well. It's better than just being another nike football kit, in different colours.

I'm not trying to single you out here Lucas and I mean no offence by this comment, but I think some of you seem to expect a player to settle immediately. Rosicky impressed me last season, I think he showed enough in his first season to warrant pretty high expectations next season. However, I do agree that his best position looks to be 'in the hole', herc said that enough himself last season.

No offence taken. I appreciate it takes time for a player to bed in. I agree with your comments, I just think he's wasted on the left and I dont think we saw his best last season. :(

I think your optimism is well founded though. He showed enough to convince me he can do a great job for us. I hope he (and the rest) shoots more this coming season :) .

Noises coming from Cesc that he wants to captain the side at some point. Obviously things change quickly in football but it can only be good to hear that. If, as I genuinely expect him to, Wenger stays then I think this side has mileage in it. Possibly with Cesc as a leader for three, four or five years. Or more, hopefully.

Hmm, maybe in the future but Gilberto is the man for the armband at the moment. He was a much better captain then TH as he actually talked to the other players and gave them a kick up the arse when needed.

And, as important, it improved his game. I mean, it really did. His goals tally and general contribution was much more like I'd expect from a senior, experienced pro. So, yes. Gilberto for captain right now. No doubt.

Agreed. He was absolutely phenomenal last season, his influence and reading of the game have been at Vieira standards since he got the armband.

When he leaves/retires, Toure is most definitely going to get it, and I really don't think there's been a player more worth of being Arsenal captain since Tony Adams. Cesc may be waiting a log time.

Didn't Kolo say something when he first arrived about wanting to retire early*? If so he might be gone in five years which would be a good age for Cesc to takeover.

*I've had a reasonably big google and can find nothing to back this up. I allege I've made it up.

as there's yet again sweet fanny adams going on today, why not take part in the Arsenal Thread Quiz?

1 - are you a season ticket holder? if so, where do you sit. did you have one at highbury? if you're not a ST holder, how many games do you manage to get to? can you get to more at the grove now?

2 - what's your favourite pub round the ground?

3 - what do you think of the white away shirt? do you wear shirts to games?

4 - if arsenal were to hypothetically introduce a safe standing area at AG, would you be interested?

5 - do you go to aways? what was your favourite from last year?

6 - who is your favourite 'character' at the ground, past or present?

I just gave up my season ticket for a number of reasons. Obviously I'm really wishing I hadn't now. But we know so many people that getting tickets will be easy.

We always went to the Wetherspoons by Highbury and Islington tube. Originally it was the Barn, then the Cock. Wetherspoons has a reasonable atmosphere and it's naturally a lot cheaper.

Not a massive fan of the white shirt, for traditional reasons mostly. I used to wear shirts to games but less so over the last couple of seasons. I find them uncomfortable actually. The material and collar on the redcurrant kit were murder.

Not interested in standing.

Don't go away. Time and money from Brighton was enough for me. I did always go to semis and finals though. Always.

No fave character. There was some bloke who lived near Highbury though, he was a little ratty fella and obviously badly disturbed. He'd stand outside his house abusing all the fans on the way to the game. I can't believe he got away with it, maybe people are more understanding than I thought.

1) I have a season ticket in the Orange section in block 3, lower tier. The "Red action/singing section/whatever its called" is to my left. I had one at Highbury from the 1991/92 season onwards and gave it up in Wenger's first year as I was a skint student but as we were great that year I ended up going to most games that season too. I then got my season ticket back the following year and got a bit paranoid that I was cursed to not see a title winning season as a season ticket holder as we then didn't win it for the next few years. Obviously 2002 and 2004 ended the curse. :D

2) We go to The Gunners out of habit. Not sure why as the beer is like piss. We also go to the Arsenal Tavern now and again. We have started drinking in the ground this season too. £3.20 a pint? Bargain!

3)I hated the white away shirt, just the very idea of it was disgusting. Seeing pictures of it, I thought it was a decent top. After seeing it in sports shops I want to buy it. I'm so weak. I like the writing that is in the material. I won't buy it though. I don't wear kits and I don't want to encourage them to make more white ones, despite me liking it now. As i've said before we just don't wear white. End of story.

4) I wouldn't like to stand (too lazy) but I wouldn't mind there being standing and i'd like to sit near it as I imagine it would have the best atmosphere.

5) Didn't do any away games last season apart from the Carling Cup semi final away leg at the lane and the final. I guess the lane was the best out of those two. Didn't realise I had been to so few last year. Usually get quite a few in. My all time favourite must be the 5-1 against Inter Milan a few years back.

6) Favourite character? "COME. ON. YOU. GUNNERS!!!!!!" Also known as crazy lady who shouts this at every game. Or the mental guy who wears half home/half away kit combo's to every single game. Even in winter.

1 - managed to get one last season after 11 years of being on the list, i'm at the back of block 6 (the redaction one). it's a good laugh up there though sometimes you feel like the last of the mohicans

2 - the 12 pins or the blackstock before games generally, afterwards the bailey or maybe the hen and chickens

3 - it's deeply awful but there's a part of me that's growing to like it. kind of like buggery i guess. i don't wear shirts or colours out as a rule - i think nobody over the age of 15 should really..

4 - yes, definitely. standing isn't inherently unsafe, it's a myth

5 - some, when money and time allow. liverpool away in the fa cup was absolutely blinding. we outsang them all game and scored some absolute beauties

6 - i used to love the peanut seller on gillespie road who seems to have gone now. it sounded like some donkey's mating call when he shouted 'peanuttts'

He is such a cock! If robben goes to madrid he can kiss his "dream move" goodbye and get his arse back to north london!!

Wenger has pretty much said Reyes wont be coming back to Arsenal, and rightly so. There's no point having a player around who doesn't want to be there.

I suppose it's just a matter of finding a club that will have him who are also prepared to pay the money we want, or close to it at least.

http://www.arsenal.com/article.asp?thisNav...llowed+to+leave

Unless we get a big offer i wouldn't sell him, i can't see us gettin 10mil so really i'd drag his arse back wenger shouldn't let him go for peanuts jus because reyes doesn't wanna stay. He shouldn't have signed a long contract

What good would it do us though to have an unhappy player around, either not playing so therefore hardly increasing his value, or maybe playing when he doesn't really want to be.

It's a lose lose situation i'm afraid. We just need to get as much as we can for him and move on.

Not a season ticket holder, going into my 3rd season of being a Red Member this season though. I went to 6 games last season, including the shitfest that was Arsenal vs West Ham

2 - what's your favourite pub round the ground?

As i go up on my own i normally have a beer in the ground

3 - what do you think of the white away shirt? do you wear shirts to games?

It's alrite, i hate the writing on the shirt though, looks crap. The 3rd shirt in Barca colours is also quite funny.

4 - if arsenal were to hypothetically introduce a safe standing area at AG, would you be interested?

Maybe, the atmosphere could be electric in games.

5 - do you go to aways? what was your favourite from last year?

Not yet, would like to hit Anfield, WHL, Old Trafford & St James though.

6 - who is your favourite 'character' at the ground, past or present?

No idea, only started going a year ago!

Sounds like some promising performances. Eduardo seems to be one to watch.

By now the game has seemed to settle into a pattern of Arsenal having the majority of the play, but their opponents having the best chances.

Let's just hope we dont hear that too much this season!
