I'm not trying to single you out here Lucas and I mean no offence by this comment, but I think some of you seem to expect a player to settle immediately. Rosicky impressed me last season, I think he showed enough in his first season to warrant pretty high expectations next season. However, I do agree that his best position looks to be 'in the hole', herc said that enough himself last season.

I dont think Rosicky has established himself there at all. He looks far better playing attacking midfield. I dont think we saw anything approaching Rosicky's best last season.

I agree. He looked ace at times but never properly comfortable coming in from the left. Trouble is, he's gonna have to play there again I'd imagine, unless we buy a left sided player. Who else have we got? A couple coming through, maybe, but no-one established. van Persie, Denilson and Diaby are wasted out wide for my money.

I expect big things this season from Rosicky, one way or another. Second season, no excuses. I think if our 'senior' players fire 90%+ most weeks we've got a great chance cos the talent available, everywhere, is incredible, and the way we play can bring the best from everyone.

ARSENE WENGER last night dropped the broadest of hints that he is set to commit his future to Arsenal, the club he loves.

It came after the Frenchman revealed a heart-to-heart with whizzkid Cesc Fabregas had convinced him their futures lay at the Emirates.

Wenger, who has a year left on his contract, said he would announce a final decision on his future “very soon”.

He said: “I spoke to Cesc Fabregas when all the Spanish newspaper stories started and it was very important that I had him committed to the club. It was a massive step for Cesc to turn down Real Madrid when he is Spanish and I am very proud that he has done that.

“It would have been very bad news for us if he had gone.”

And he added: “But my future is linked to the whole club. I promised the 15 and 16-year-olds I brought here that I would take care of them and I will.”

Sounds promising and obv. Wenger staying is vital.

Is he becoming bigger than the Club though? The saying goes 'no player is bigger than the Club' and that's true. But I worry that Wenger is literally becoming Mr Arsenal and if he went things would go tits up. But then again, if he doesn't get the team to fulfil it's potential this season, or next at the latest, would it be time for him to move on? It would be one fuck of a rebuilding job if he went cos the big names seem to be saying he's the reason they're at Arsenal and they'd follow him out the door.

Just thinking out loud.

*twiddles thumbs*

Come on guys, where are you? This stuff doesn't make itself up! :(

Strong rumours in Argentina seems to believe that the Boca Juniors star's possible move to Barcelona for £15m has been stalled due to ongoing negotiations with his two previous clubs, Huracán de Tres Arroyos and Banfield. The two clubs are believed to still own a percentage of the player but Boca seem unable to reach an agreement with them. Rumours have been circulating in Argentina that Arsenal would swoop in for a while and a Boca Juniors fan blog has confirmed (or added flame to the fire) that Arsenal have reached an agreement with all parties but haven't negotiated with the player. How reliable is the source? I have absolutely no idea!

Palacio is widely considered to be one of Argentina's top strikers and it is believed Arsenal, if we have in fact got an offer accepted, would have to pay an amount around £17m €21.5m(did the math wrong)! Thats a huge sum considering the last time we spent that much, we got Jose Antonio Reyes!

Palacio made his first appearance at a World Cup in 2006 when he came on as a substitute against Ivory Coast in their group stage match. He has scored 39 goals in 79 appearances for Boca. Boca president, Mauricio Macri labelled the 25-year-old the best striker in Argentina when he said, "For Palacio, we will have to receive the biggest offer in the world because for me he is the best forward in Argentina,".

Personally i'd rather see RVP play upfront than on the left but we do have a problem there. I wish Rosicky could play in his natural position but even on the left he gives us something we need, he's a class act and i reckon he'll have a great season

If Rosicky does play on the left this season, at least we can take solace in the fact that if there's anyone who can get a player to play in a position they aren't used to, it's Arsene.

Exactly and Rosicky in the team playing on the left is better than rosicky not in the team

The Sun have picked up the story about Palacio:

ARSENAL are poised to smash their transfer record with a £15million swoop for Argentinian striker Rodrigo Palacio.

Reports in Argentina claim Palacio, 25, will fly to London tomorrow for a medical after Boca Juniors accepted the Gunners offer.

He is destined to wear the No 14 shirt vacated by Thierry Henry’s recent £16m move to Barcelona.

Gotta be honest i've not heard of him.

I haven't seen much of him but he has some reputation out there by all accounts. If there is any thruth in this then if Arsene is willing to pay £15m for him you would guess he reaally must think he's special.

Love the idea myself, would be great (if a gamble) to pick up a player from abroad rather than Martins and the like who we know more about. This season has the feeling that we are becoming familiar with...a squad of some knowns and some unknowns, plenty of potential and exciting times ahead.

I just want the season to start...NOW

He's one of those players who you always go and buy in Champ Man because they turn in to a world class player at some point. Then you go and find something out about him and become incredibly surprised at the fact that he is:

a) The best player in Argentina (possibly South America)

B) Still in Argentina

On the 80's tip or not, I maintain we didn't show interest in Tevez because he's too ugly for our beautiful game. ^_^

Baptista was no oil painting though. He looked like a bulldog chewing a wasp. That's probably why he left :(

So this is what our tabloid newspapers have come to. Copying "news" from blogs and reporting it as an "EXCLUSIVE".

Here says:

There seems to be a rumour surrounding an Argentinian player called Rodrigo Palacio. However, this rumour appears to have been started by a Boca Juniors blog and as we all know blogs aren’t exactly the most reliable source of information. In fact, any old cunt can get themselves a blog and start writing whatever the hell they like without having to do any fact checking or paying any attention to the truth whatsoever. It’s what makes blogging so great. So, we’ll have to treat this one with a little bit of scepticism. I know it’s hard as surely nobody who blogs could be a bad person and just invent something for the sake of it but you’ll have to put away your natural trust of the medium for the time being.

Also rather hilariously says:

Did you see the Copa America final between Brazil and Argentina last night? Four minutes in and Julio Baptista had Arsenal fans with their heads in their hands after a cracking goal. The sort of goal he used to score for Sevilla but never scored for Arsenal. I got a little bit afraid, like he’d just had a really bad 9 month run of form and now that he was free from the constraints of the red and white he was going to be brilliant again but thankfully that passed as he bumbled his way around for the rest of the match miscontrolling the ball and being generally a bit poo.

I read somewhere that some bookies were offering 3/1 for Brazil to win in 90 minutes! Amazing odds. Of course I didn't take advantage. ^_^
