I'd be very surprised if Hoyte went, especially if our collective Eboue thoughts (ie moving him forward) are correct. Where is the rumour from?

the daily mail. i'm hoping it's just them itching to write a story about 'shipping blacks out' and that there's nothing to it. i love justin hoyte, he is proper.

Not exactly.

Alliadiere was shit and didn't always look like he was giving 100%.

At least Hoyte looks like he's trying his best.

Hence the winkie smilie!

I was just amazed Alliadiere lasted for so long.

Seems like Liverpool are gonna be speaking to Babel.

I do think he's overpriced at £13m but you'd think that if we want him we'd be in there, especially since he apparently expressed a desire to come here. Maybe it depends on Fred going to make room.

Obviously not as disastrous as Cesc leaving obviously but a shame. I thought he had earned his place in the squad.

He's an honest player but he's pretty hopeless. He gives 100% but he's not good enough to play regularly for a big club. I'm sure he'd do ok at a mid-table team or a top championship team but he's just not good enough for Arsenal I'm afraid.

It seems that Man Citeh are now after Freddie, £6mill. We should bite their hand off.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2002390...7320145,00.html

I would like to see us spend this money as so far we've made a profit this summer.

out

Henry - 16

Alliadiere - 1.5 or 2

Muamba - 2

add Reyes and Freddie to that and you could be looking at about another £14mill or so.

in

Eduardo - £10 mill seems to be the figure we've paid

Sagna - all but done at about £7 mill

Fabianski - £2mill

the young Norwegian lad - £2mill

I make that to be a profit of around £13mill. Surely this means we've got another signing or two to come and also raises the question as to why we didn't go in for Babel.

Maybe Wenger's got his eye on someone else, I hope so.

Even if we spend another £13mill that's a summer 'spending spree' without actually spending any money.

Tight skint fuckers or good business???

On the face of it, yes. Better to sell to an English Club cos I think fees need to be paid 100% up front. And it's a good price for Fred.

Mind you, since we didn't go for Babel (only Wenger knows why) and we'll lose Reyes we're dead short of players who can play on the left. I hope Wenger has someone lined up cos Diaby and Denilson are wasted out wide.

Arsenal winger Jose Antonio Reyes is set to join Real Madrid.

Marca says Reyes came away from a meeting with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger with an agreement that he will be sold to Real in the coming days.

Arsenal have lowered their asking price for the Spain international and are now willing to accept a £7 million bid from Real for his transfer.

If he goes, and Fred goes, we're definitely short. I hope Arsene has something in the pipeline.

Liverpool have got Babel, £11.5 million apparently...

I must say its a lot for a player who we were linked with for £6mil earlier in the year, seems to happen a lot with us <_<. I guess Rafa really wanted to nail this after (apparently) being priced out of Denilson and Walcott.

It seems that we never actually went in for him though, it was just the media talking bollocks as usual and fans getting a bit excited, me included.

Maybe Wenger was put off by the price tag, maybe he has someone else lined up or maybe he just didn't fancy him.

We shall see, time will tell.

We'll be thread fucking bare the way we're going. It's like a revolving door has been installed at the training ground. We have an embarrassment of riches in the centre, but who's on the wings? If Freddie goes (which is 99% sure now) we will not have one wide man. Surely someone can correct me there?

Hleb.

He's not gonna be an arse and play Persie on a wing is he?

Unless he plays 5-3-2 with Clichy and Eboue/Sagna/Hoyte as wing backs?

Cesc to stay!

http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=4...fter+Real+talks

Cesc Fabregas has once more pledged his future to Arsenal after admitting he held talks with Real Madrid.

The Spanish champions have made a concerted push to try and prise the midfielder from Emirates Stadium over the summer.

Arsenal have been determined to hang on to Fabregas following Thierry Henry's sale to Barcelona, but doubts about manager Arsene Wenger's long-term future have raised questions about the Spaniard's own situation.

However, Fabregas has now confirmed he will be staying with the Gunners after thanking Real for showing an interest.

"I'm very grateful to Real and it is an honour that such a great club is interested in me," Fabregas told Radio Marca.

"But after the departure of Thierry Henry to Barcelona I couldn't leave Arsenal in the lurch.

"I spoke to Real's president Ramon Calderon and sport director Predrag Mijatovic, and they are spectacular people.

"It was very satisfying to listen to them as Real Madrid is a great club, but I have decided to stay at Arsenal.

"I had a long talk with Wenger. He is someone I can talk to about anything.

"I have total confidence in the boss that he will sign a new deal. Wenger believes in this team and has a lot of confidence in the squad.

"I am only 20 and all I have to do is enjoy my football and improve, and I want to do that with this team."

Hopefully there's truth in this.

I do feel it's a bit rich that he spoke to them. I mean, you sign an eight year deal and surely that should mean some loyalty (ie no meeting other teams) for most of that time. Aside from Henry going it's not like things have changed much. The team plan is still on course.

I'd still like another player, preferably wide left. Also read that we're considering pushing through a work permit for Vela. I think we should go for it, especially since United managed to get one for Anderson (I think it was him) despite the initial rejection.

Thank fuck for that. IMO, Cesc more important to us then Henry at the moment.

Oi, what's with the avatar?

I'm in two minds about Vela. On one hand I'd love to see him at the club and see how he does and then on the other hand I think another year of proper first team football couldn't be anything but a good thing.

Vela attracted interest from a number of European clubs, but it was Arsenal who won the race for his signature in November 2005 for a reported fee of £2.5million and he signed a five-year deal.

Five year deal from November 2005, so no massive rush. I wouldn't want him to get comfy in another league though. I'd say get him into the fold ASAP, but I understand your view too. You can't beat first team games for experience.

And, some Alex Ferguson interview..

Reporter : "Are Arsenal in danger of dropping out of the top four?"

Sir Alex : "No, no. They'll be in the top four."

Reporter : "Even without Thierry Henry?"

Sir Alex : "Without question, I'm more convinced that they'll be in the top four without Henry."

Reporter : "Why?"

Sir Alex : "I just think it was time for him to go. I think Arsene knew that. And I think they'll be better."

Interesting.
