People can't expect this guy to fit straight into the team, he will probably need time to adjust to the league but once he does you never know :)

Don't be ridiculous. He is going to score 50 goals and we are going to win everything.

(Not really. He probably won't even start the season in the first 11 if everyone is fit.)

I don't know, maybe RVP and Da Silva up front?

I reckon Adebayor and RVP will start the season and Wenger will let Silva adjust and ease him in by the time Adebayor goes away for the African nations.

Surely RVP is now our main striker and will always play if fit. The second striker is a bit up for grabs, the new boy could well be first choice with RVP.

Obviously it's not going to be so straight forward, what with injuries, suspensions and the ANC everyone will get a run out.

Hopefully we'll progress in the domestic cups as well as the CL so 60+ games is more than enough for everyone to get a game.

We'll have Bendtner as well....

He signed a five year deal and that must tell us something about his prospects of getting a game. He'll have wanted assurances from Arsene. Not many go out on loan and come back, I'm quite excited about him.

In fact, I'm excited about our entire front line. I think Henry was a massive weight on their shoulders. The Wright phenomenon did Kevin Campbell no favours IMO (remember when he first broke into the team, he was frightening but I think Wrighty being the star and main man held him back) and I think seeing the back of Henry will invite all our forward players up to the plate. As said above, van Persie is probably the senior striker and first choice and I think he might have a massive season. He's got the lot and I really dig his game. He's got that swagger about him, likes a trick and has bags of confidence. That's the kind of player we seem to lack at times. A lot of our players are solid and we need someone who's prepared to take the piss a bit and try a few things out.

I see Merson has been suggesting he's worried and we might not even get fourth place. I hope it's been said as a gee up and the players read what he's said cos IMO the squad is capable of winning things starting this season. We don't need to necessarily need to get maximum points from Chelsea, United and Liverpool if we can get some consistency going in the 'lesser' games.

Loving the new found beleif in the team guys!

I really think everything (just about) is there in this team to mount a serious challenge. A a huge hi-five dude on your point about Henry maybe holding some of the forwrd lads back. There was a reliance and fear in the team when it came to Henry that I think effected even some of the midfield lads, especially when it came to maybe taking pops from distence.

We need the players to step up now Henry is gone because there did seem to be some reliance, or fear even, when Henry was playing. That's not so much a dig at Henry because lets not forget he truly was fantastic for us. Life goes on and this is now an opportunity for everyone to show how good they are.

We need big performances, a big season from players like RVP, Abebayor, Hleb, the mentalist in goal, Cesc, Gallas, Toure, Rosicky and Gilberto.

We also need players like Diaby, Clichy, Eboue, Denilson and Theo (even though he is still about 14) to make the step up and have a good season.

All the rest have got to do the job when called on as there's no room for any scrap players any more.

We're on the same page here, mate. I agree.

Again, agreed in every way.

the mentalist in goal

As much as I'm a fan (I think he's been fully excellent for us, he's a cracking pro and some of his saves are world class and never get mentioned) I wouldn't be surprised to see the new fella get in the team at some point. He certainly talks a good game <_< .

And that fits with the whole young team scenario. Jesus, look at our squad. We must be one on the youngest squads ever and we still have that whiff of potential greatness upon us right now. It's no transition now, I believe it's the real deal. I'm loving the fact that we've got a cosmopolitan group of great talents living and growing up together. I'd love to be in there with them, it must be incredible. Imagine going into a situation with your best mates all pulling in the same direction and covering each others backs. I think that's what Arsene has made, he's a wise old mother fucker. That must bear fruit IMO, sooner rather than later.

I wouldn't worry, Merson's judgment is notoriously poor. He had to make an apology on Soccer Saturday after literally LOL'ing when asked about Liverpool's chances against Barca in the CL last season, saying something to the effect of "There is no way they can win".

I really think that contrary to what a lot of people are saying, the pressure is off your lads now. Most 'experts' are tipping you to struggle this season and that will really take the pressure off. No team in the world would be better off without Henry but that doesn't mean you can't and won't improve as a unit despite this loss. He has carried the team at times but he just didn't seem to fit in with what Arsene's building this time around. I think you'll do well this season and I think you'll surprise a lot of people along the way.

I'm a massive Henry fan and I think and hope he'll do well at Barca and I wish him all the best, but I couldn't agree more with what you said.

Spot on if you ask me.

That's the thing with dogsout. He has this annoying habit of talking sense, knowing what he's on about and showing discretion in other teams threads so as not to offend. I think we should either have him stuffed or hound him out.

<_<

Arsenal become more like The Hurricanes with each passing season.

And you are, who? Exactly?

Don't piss on our parade, brother <_< .

The Hurricanes:

You don't get too much from that video but it was basically a multicultural, totally sweet team. They even had a brazilian player who refused to wear shoes. If you were a child from the 90's you'd understand!
