Arsenal

As todays arseblog pointed out, Martin's life seems a bit crazy and some of his (alleged) behaviour is a bit cunty. Not a signing I'd be too over joyed with but it'd be a signing all the same.

To be honest I think I'd prefer Anelka.

I think Martins could be a good signing.

13 mill does sound a lot though, especially when you compare it to 16 mill for Henry, but he is 7yrs younger and is on 60k a week compared to Henrys 120 or 125 whatever it was.

He scored 17 goals for the geordies last season and wasn't he injured for a while too?

Being African he will be missing for a bit next season though.

That said, surel RVP, Theo and Bendtner can cover the forward positions for that period?

All rumours at this satge anyway, might be a load of bollocks.

I think the problem for you Arsenal fans is the fact that Henry will never be replaced for you. Any potential decent striker will be compared to the great man and will never be good enough to fit his shoes. But just remember, Henry was having a tuff time before he came under Arsene's wing, again. I would be inclined to get behind Arsene's judgment on any prospective players he is interested in.

Ever heard of Ian Wright? There was no way he could be replaced either.

The Club moves on, we get new heroes.

Yeah that first sentence of mine is a load of shit. What I meant was that for now, finding a replacement that will keep the fans happy will be futile until proven.

Obviously things like this always move on.

Yeah, I know what you mean max. He will be heard to replace. I think we'll develop into a more cohesive team now though. It could work out well.

Agreed.

I mean I am absolutely gutted that Henry has gone and yes he is 'impossible' to replace, but as you say so was Wrighty and how about Vieira, Tony Adams, Seaman, Pires and of course Dennis. The list could go on and on.

It does seem at the time they go that some players cant be replaced but they eventually always are, the club moves on.

With a couple of good signings (out of say Martins, Anelka maybe, Malouda, Babbel, plus maybe others Wenger knows about) added to everyone we already have and things could suddenly look a lot healthier than now.

Martins would be a silly signing as he would be gone for thew african cup of nations with adebayor, this would leave us short on strikers at a crucial point of the season and so would be a bad move. If wenger opts to play 4-5-1 we won't need to buy a striker, just a midfielder or two. I'd still like to see SWP put on the red and white shirt he'd be a top signing!

RvP is the one to watch but I'm yet to see Bendtner in action so I'll reserve judgement on him just right now. I'd love it if he grabs his chance by the balls but all these stories I hear of him being lazy ain't want I want to be hearing.

From the BBC...

Auxerre are resigned to losing full-back Bakary Sagna to Arsenal. "He wants to wear the Arsenal shirt," said club president Gerard Bourgoin. (Mail)

He gets good reviews from France and I think has brokn in to the French squad. Anyone seen much of him?

Losing Henry now isn't as bad as if we lost him a copule of seasons ago and losing him now means that other players have a chance to shine. There'll no longer be this present at the club and on the pitch which seemed to scare some of the youngsters.

Now if we sign someone like Teves, then yes, we are most definitly heading in the right direction. The team needed a big change. One that might look at first for the worse but really should do us the world of good.

As a has been said by a couple of us in here, it's actually quite an exciting time.

I kind of agree with Mopstar and, as has been said before, the team might be more a team without him. What worries me now is keeping Wenger and Cesc.

Torres' signing by Liverpool will be interesting, I think he will fit in well there and should be a big influence.

Hmmm, interesting report here.. :(

Last night, BBC London reported that at an “emergency” board meeting today, Arsene Wenger would extend his contract, whilst ratifying the appointment of a Director of Football: Gilles Grimandi. Whilst arseblog reports that these stories may be “premature”, it would correlate with the information I’ve recieved from elsewhere if something happened in the next few days.

I also agree with Mopstar, while it can never be good to lose arguably the best player in the world it does seem a little bit exciting still.

In response to Dizogg Torres has hardly got a prolific record but yes he is young and yes he does look half decent and i do think he'll be suited to the PL, but the scousers are paying top dollar for him and it's no certainty that he'll be a success............we'll see.

I've said it before, if we add a couple of quality players to the current squad i see no reason why we cant improve on last year which would be a step in the right direction in this 'transitional' period.
