Been thinking this for a few weeks now but Saliba reminds me of Vieira, his posture, the way he runs, how he uses the ball, I think there's alot of similarities there despite the different positions

Not unhappy about that.

Didn't actually lose so no morale hammering and can now focus on something far more important without the stress like tonight of injuries piling up chasing this secondary pot.

we could also dodge a bullet with those players with niggles missing the interlull and having a breather before the league resumes, we should have enough to beat Palace then be ready to go for the run in.

Pundits are shifting towards Saka as player of the season now I think, I had Odegaard but can't deny the goals and assist numbers of Saka, what's that player of the season award decided in March or something, I can't be bothered looking. I don't think City will win any domestic trophy and if award is decided after the season ends it ought to go to the best player of the league winners, regardless of Haaland's numbers, which is maybe absurd I don't know. If City wins the Champions League he's probably winning the Ballon d'Or.

On subject of Saka being a Ballon d'Or winner from a while ago, can he ever be in contention without a European Cup win or euros or world cup win with England? Henry was like a football god for Arsenal, anyone could watch his PL highlights and think they're watching the greatest player to ever play the game and I don't think they'd be far off. Eventual point...no Ballon d'Or win. Shevchenko and Kahn were third twice in the years Henry was at his peak, his best was second place once.

Michael Owen won it because Liverpool won the league cup, fa cup, uefa cup amd super cup in 6 months, Owen man of the match in two of them. He only got 24 goals in 46 in 2000-01, not different to Rashford's 22 in 44 in 2019-20 when everyone still discussed whether he'll ever be a prolific striker...De Bruyne is like the Henry of this era, doing unbelievable things in the premier league but playing for a team that has no history winning the European Cup and can't win it, and in international sides who underachieved (Henry's Arsenal peak coinciding with France declining after their euros and world cup win).

I think it's generally accepted you need to win the European trophies to be in contention, and also that playing for Real and Barcelona is a decent head start in the voting. Both England and Arsenal seem some way off of winning that kind of thing though so maybe it won't happen for him. Personally I think Saka should win the player of the year as his contribution consistently improves the team he plays in, as well as putting up great personal numbers. Haaland will get it though as in the ridiculous world of individual honours in a team sport there's no greater individual than him, whichever way you want to interpret that.

I don't think tickets ever make their way to general sale anymore, and that game is sold out for both tiers of membership too so he might need to ask around. They're tough to get hold of now we're good and it's fun to go, with the scarcity being compounded by the fact that this Premier League putsch has been deemed too hot for TV and none of the games are broadcast live for UK audiences.

A friend is looking to buy tickets for the Arsenal Southampton game, would you 100% need a membership to get them or do they release to general public at some point?

The only legit way to get a ticket for that game at this point is to be a member, and try your luck on the ticket exchange (an official resale mechanism for season ticket holders who can't make a game).

But even then, it requires many hours of refreshing the site continuously, and clicking the microsecond you see a ticket come up. They reckon there are about 300 people looking for tickets on the ticket exchange at any one time at the moment.

I think it’s just that - for some reason - we thought Liverpool might get something today. I don’t know why though, bearing in mind they’ve got like 2 points away all season.

It's not doom and gloom, been an amazing season and I'm enjoying every minute of it - just it feels an over performance and wasn't expected (but it isn't a fluke and undeserved either). Plus we've got the 3rd toughest set of remaining fixtures in the league with City, Liverpool & Newcastle away and Spurs & chelsea at home.

Sure mathematically it's in our hands if we win every game, but the pressure of the actual run in starting now and the level of games to come still makes me think City are favourites.

 Man, that was some hope - I actually think we may have had a better chance with Haaland playing, but even then it was remote as we've been useless for a long time now.
