And win with a Kolo 30 yard thunderbolt that also breaks Ronaldinho's legs, decapitates Messi, breaks the net and demolishes one end of the Nou Camp

I think that might be the most beautiful thing I've ever read. :)

He hardly played last season and you qualified for the CL. Plus he was on crazy wages.

If you can replace him with a top class striker, the kind who'd not be a risk (i.e. a certain Ajax striker), then you'll be okay. Actually, you might be better off.

That, and it's unlike Arsene to let a key player go without knowing something. Viera only left because he was obviously past it and Fabs/Gilberto were better. Maybe it's something like that with Henry?

I've put some dosh on him scoring outside of the box next season, its got to happen soon! He loves a pop from way out and he's always smiling :)

EDIT: Good point Ryan, we all know what happened when Viera came up against us the season after he left.

He got tackled by Robert Pires and we scored

Well, I guess this gives the younger strikers (Walcott, I'm looking at you) a chance to show what they're capable of.

Henry was an Arsenal legend but his best years are probably done. Having said that, I think Arsenal's inability to hang on to their experienced players has been a large factor in their fall from grace.

I wouldn't mind seeing Owen at the emirates even though he is injury prone. It's a sad day for Arsenal but they have to now go on and state their intent by buying a top class player, and by that i don't mean obafemi martins or anelka.

Wouldn't be bad but i'm not sure we will spend the money. Own at £9million (I think) wouldn't be a bad gamble!

I'd agree with you. If the lad stayed healthy he'd fit in well. I guess it's wait and see time.

Hang about, it appears that people are actually considering having Anelka back. What sort of madness is this? There isn't one name being bandied around that I want playing in red and white - Martins, Torres, Huntelaar, Trezeguet and Adriano are all overrated and can't hold a candle to Thierry. Owen is a liabilty, and not even worth the £9m gamble.

I mean Wenger must have a contingency plan? It was obvious by January that Henry wasn't happy, he must have someone lined up, surely? As it stands we only have 3 senior strikers, one of which is always injured, one who didn't exactly light up the Championship last year, and another who struggles in front of goal. There's also Walcott, but he isn't an out and out front man. Again the problem in that plan was to get Henry to rub off on Theo - it's all happened too soon for the team. At 17/18 next year, we still can't expect too much, which is fast becoming our club motto; we should probably stick it under the badge on the shirts.

We can talk forever about potential. Players like Diaby, Van Persie, Denilson, Adebayor, Djourou, Senderos, Bendtner, Hoyte, Eboue, need to turn potential gains into match winning performances. Now. I fear our lack of experienced heads and leadership is going to be incredibly detrimental. We can't expect Jens, Gilberto and Toure to carry the team.

Not looking at the team for a moment, I was worried a few pages back that people won't want to join us with the uncertainty surrounding the club. That was before our captain, highest ever goalscorer and talisman buggered off in a cloud of doubt over Wenger's future. I am seriously fretting that players of the required calibre aren't going to be interested.

I was all doom and gloom last summer, and we all saw how that turned out - the most disappointing season since Stewart Houston took the reigns. This is worse. I'm sure Wenger has a plan - he always has done, and let's face it, knows exactly what he is doing - I don't think the board are supporting him, or are ever going to financially. If we were going to buy Ryan Babel, we would have already. It wouldn't be like Wenger to wait until he's played a blinder in a tournament, affirmed what he already knew and doubled his value before buying him. I would urge everyone not to expect fireworks, because it just isn't going to happen.

Yeah, I'm standing firm on that. I imagine he'll take an international job, possibly Japan. I don't think he has the heart to take on another club, it's more of a project than a occupation for him I feel. Cue exodus. As Steve007 says, we'll go on of course, just without the rudder.

As a Villa fan, I'll be upset if (or increasingly when) Wenger goes.

He's transformed you from a tedious long ball team, into the most exciting team in the country.

Most of your talent has joined because of Wenger, and I don't know if you'll be able to keep them if he goes. Will Cesc want to stay without Wenger? Walcott? Toure?

As an outsider your board astound me. You've got one of the best managers in Europe, but they've failed to back him financially for the last two or three years. They should be doing everything they can to keep him happy, and provide him with the support he needs.

Hobo: I'm not saying that Owen is a good bet to replace Henry. What I am saying is that Henry is gone and we need someone, anyone! Owen would fit the team I think, though I keep changing my mind on that every few seconds.

Owen? I'd rather we didn't sign anyone than have an injury prone nightmare on our hands who probably wants £100k a week. We needed another forward anyway, the fact that TH has fucked off means we need two. We don't pay big transfer fees so that rules out players like Tevez so I can only pray the club & Wenger know what they are doing.

I also like how the club announces this once everyone has renewed their season ticket. Very shrewd.

We've just moved into one of the worlds finest stadiums. It costs money and I guess the club are going to have a shitty couple of years. The new stadium ensures that the club will remain one of the biggest in Europe if not the world. The revenue generated in the first season was staggering and when this money eventually ends up in a pot marked "transfer kitty" then it will give us huge spending power. I'm guessing that Wenger won't see much of this until some of the additional costs for the stadium and all the other things the club are responsible for have been paid. So a couple of shitty seasons then...
