Fair play to Arteta as he's really turned the ship around. Wenger used to have that ability of having a couple of terrible results and somehow being able to rally and knock out half a dozen wins on the spin. It's not ideal needing things to be just right, but now he's got the specificity in the positions he wanted and a fit squad it's looking like he can really get us going. It's nice having players and a manager you can get behind too. Imagine anyone thinking they could buy ESR in the summer!

An OK result in the end I guess. I can sort of understand why Odergaard was poor as he just wasn’t given the ball enough, and just too many slow short passes to him in tight areas. We really miss Xhaka being able to fire balls into feet before the receiver is swamped, especially when White is being sat on and can’t provide a forward pass too. 
 

A game like that should be bread and butter for Partey though and he was tosh. His weekly ball donations to the club car park need to stop, it’s absolutely ridiculous how bad he is at shooting.

I think this is probably what we’re going to get from Arteta, decent spells for 10 minutes or so and then allowing teams to put us under the pump for the rest of the game. As we are you either need to be able to counter really well or be able to organise a press, but we’re slaves to a system that needs better coaching and players to work. It’s frustrating as there’s green shoots, but there’s so much terrible football to watch in between the good bits.

 

Palace aren’t much good but I can see what sort of football they want to play. I don’t know if this is what Arteta is aiming for and it’s not clicking or if he doesn’t know himself. I couldn’t personify his style, but I doubt it’s the type that gets you into Europe.

We’re no better than we were under Emery. Plus Emery was never given the players he wanted or the money to spend that Arteta has. Look at the players he has at his disposal - Martinelli, Pepe, Auba. We should be cutting teams to pieces on the counter with these guys, but it’s always slow possession based build up. Other than the Spurs game we just look the same as we did a year ago. Defensively pretty good, but slow to move the ball and lacking in ideas in front of goal. Having said all that Mike Dean, what a cock!

I really enjoyed the Spurs game, but they were absolutely appalling that day and we still somehow let them back in the game by sitting back. I think we’re too wrapped up in the idea of patience and it being this long winded process that it reflects on the pitch. 1-0 at home against Palace is a game you go onto win 4-0. I mean Wenger had that approach and managed it with much worse teams than we put out last night, but we’re scared of everyone.

Made it to the Emirates for the first time in years. I thought the atmosphere was pretty good really, especially considering the drivel on the pitch. 
 

we have a good first 11 now but MA can’t get a tune out of them. Really think we should be moving on from him now. 
 

I’m going again on Friday, will be interesting to see if there are any improvements.

I think the amount interviews he did post the switch annoyed people a bit even if the content was pretty vanilla.

 

Tbh I wanted him to stay and still think that would have been better decision than sticking with Leno.

 

However I really enjoyed the 'Emi, Emi, what's the score' and 'He's better than you...' chants. What's football with put a bit of shithousing other teams players?
