Well I know we've done it in the past, but to understate Henry and Wenger's contribution would be mental. They're two of the most successful individuals to walk through the club in modern times. Cesc is the future of the team, and any movement involving him would be disasterous. Although I fully expect him to be with us next year. Wenger will leave when his contract expires I feel, and that's been on the cards for ages.

Our ability to adapt and evolve has been down to Dein and most of all Arsene. I very much doubt anyone in the world could cope with the way we've lost players. Ferguson has battled for years to do a similar thing, and only now appears to have cracked it.

Our lack of involvement in the transfer market this summer shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone, as 3 or 4 windows have passed without much fanfare. Although we have bought lots of players, so I fully expect us to get a few signings. Probably not of the calibre we require however.

Arsenal existed 100 years or so without Wenger, Henry & Cesc. Just thought I'd point that out

Is true.

We all shit ourselves when Adams went, then we realised we didn't need him when Toure turned up from Africa. We didn't miss Ian Wright (various forwards), Winterburn (Cole, Clichy), Dixon (Lauren, Toure, Eboue) or Seaman (Jens) either.

I'd give my right arm for an Adams, a Dixon (especially) and a Wright. Oh, and a Smith. I loved him. Possibly a Groves type too, someone who was just over the moon to be in the red and white.

arguably our best ever player (Pires).

A high five. The season he did his knee - I know I repeat myself a lot - was possibly the best season from a player I've ever seen. He was awesome, truly a player at his peak week in week out. I thought it was sensible letting him move on but it was a mistake. He made the team tick, was elegant and scored goals.

Agreed. Two great, great personalities and a young player who anyone would build a team around. Although, if true, the quotes from Cesc about leaving when Wenger goes are quite worrying and disrespectful. I know le Boss is a great influence but I want players who love Arsenal first and Wenger second.

I know how much they have contributed to our club, all I'm saying is that the club won't curl up and die when they eventually leave. I'm a massive fan of Wenger and he's been fantastic but he has his flaws and he isn't perfect. Whoever eventually replaces Wenger will have one hell of a tough job, but the foundations Wenger is laying will make the next managers job a little bit easier. I'm sure Wenger will be manager for a good few years yet, so I'm not sure why people are panicking.

As for Henry, we all love the goal machine, but what about the moody sulky arrogant lazy cunt he can be a lot of the time? Van Persie is twice the player when Henry isn't on the pitch barking at him, giving him evil stares and getting the hump when RVP goes for goal instead of giving it to Henry who is miles away from the 18 yard box. Everyone plays with more freedom when Henry isn't there and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Don't get me wrong, we are a stronger team when Henry is on form, but he's not quite the player some people think he is.

While I can understand some of the doom and gloom we all feel I really think we should sit tight over the next couple of months and try and take it easy.

I'm sure a left sided winger will be joing us before the window closes (lets hope a bit before the season starts) and Cesc and Henry will be with us at for a while still.

Think about the times last season when this team played the way we all know they can play.

Believe that when we do bring in someone, the whole team gets a boost of energy and life that they'll be able to bring in consistency to their game and start getting them results agaisnt the little teams. Week in week out.

Remeber the 93rd minute and the chants of "who are you!"

Think about all the great players we have, that while young, have shown agaisnt older teams that they aren't that raw and won't be raw for much longer. Your Diabys, Van Persies, Denilsons, Clichys and Walcotts.

And we've got some heads with experience too, Henry, Gallas, Rosicky, Jens and Toure.

And Cesc, of course, who floats between those two groups. And players like Helb who, I think, have got a hard time but are bound to improve.

While you could shoot down this whole post with a lot of valid arguments all I'm trying to say is, look on the bright side of life, at least a little bit.

...then again, I'm sure I'm just talking delusional shit.

Why would anyone ambitious want to join us anyway? We've lost Dein who was a massive draw for players, Wenger's future probably lies elsewhere after next season, and Cesc and Henry are hardly likely to be around forever. Add that to our miserly wage structure and lack of ambition in the transfer market then it's not hard to see why were aren't the plum job we once were.

Perhaps we'll get a manager with a plan other than "play lots of short passes" and with some kinf of idea how to beat the likes of Bolton?

Yes, true. There's a vibe when he plays and it comes across as negative. I spotted it from day one with certain players. But think about us vs ManYoo, Liverpool, European teams.. We're a much better side when Henry plays. And look at it from his point of view. One of the top two or three players in the world, commits his future amidst intense speculation and desire from the true elite in the game. I think he deserves to be backed up a bit. Imagine a Cruyff or Maradonna settling for four years in a teams of kids. Personal life included. Pushing thirty, as a true maestro, who wants to spend their working life with colleagues you can't relate to and socialise with? It's a package.

And mopstar, I hear you and agree with a lot you said. Good calls.

Thanks Dude. I was just trying to put a postive spin on the whole situation at the moment because it isn't looking too good at the best of times and now this morning I read this...

And on possible moves from Milan, Henry added: "That is great to hear. How can it be anything else?"

"So the only thing I can tell you is right now I am an Arsenal player but I cannot deny it's nice to hear about Milan."

Dein was also manager Arsene Wenger's closest confidante, and Henry said: "The bosses have been unsettled and a lot of players at the club have been unsettled.

This whole "Arsenal player for the time being" is quite the difference form "what can I do to say I'm at this club forever, maybe I have to where a t-shirt saying it" (parapharsed). And talk of players being unsettled isn't great to hear either. Hopefully it's a simple case of slight unease within the club at the moment and a new signing and\or Wenger penning a new contarct should sort this all out.

I suppose if I want to keep my happy outlook on the future of Arsenal I might have to put my fingers in my ears, close my eyes and sing "la la la", untill someone has some good news for us.

There seems to be a difference Henry's statements depending on what you read.

"As I said to you, and so many times at the moment, I'm an Arsenal player. "

Is very different to

"At the moment I'm an Arsenal player".

Very true.

Like I said, we need something to settle the team and the fans right now. A signing or AW putting pen to paper on a new deal. I don't really fear that either won't happen but the sooner the better...blah blah blah, it's the same shit all the time really :D .

And as it was pointed out before, its only the beginning of June!

I suspect we might see some action once the Spanish season has finished and we know more about Reyes and his future. The interview linked to at arseblog.com finished on a good note as well with Henry congratulating the youngsters and looking forward to improving next year.

I think Wenger might be waiting to unload Reyes on to some unsuspecting team before he goes in to the transfer market. Ribery going to Bayern isn't a huge loss, there are plenty of other wingers out there (I would be overjoyed if Etxeberria or someone similar came over from Spain), and we still have a couple more players we could do with getting rid of in the meantime. We'll let go of Freddy this summer, sign a younger replacement, get a central midfielder in and hopefully a competent right back if there is actually any money to be spent. Henry isn't going anywhere until Wenger leaves, and as soon as we get rid of that dichead Reyes things will start looking brighter.

Bit of light relief...

Adebayor revealed that, far from team spirit splintering after a troubled season, the Gunners are still a close-knit group held together by joker Emmanuel Eboue.

"He's funnier than the funniest comedians on TV," said Adebayor.

"Sometimes when he eats he puts food up his nose and when he met the Queen at Buckingham Palace he was on the floor playing with her corgis.

"At our Christmas party at Gilberto's house it wasn't fancy dress, but there was Eboue dressed as a tiger - with a tail and everything - waiting for me behind the door.

"When I arrived he made a noise like a tiger roaring.

"For a moment I was in a big panic, but then I saw him and I though, 'Oh, its only him!'."

Pre-season training should be interesting!

Hehe, true. I like the attitude though. I'm still a Jens fan but you need someone pushing you. That was proved when Wenger dropped Jens and he came back to have a superb season.

New takeover talks. Very likely to be bullshit but I'm almost resigned to seeing this happen. The Dein departure has hurt the Club, I'd like to think we could get him back somehow and push on. That would probably mean the American controlling us and that's not ideal but the way things are at the moment I feel like we're moving backwards, quickly.

Haha, Jens is quoted in that article as saying ""When I am physically fit and have nothing distracting me mentally, then nobody can match me for experience." "

The problem is, he always has something distracting him
