Arsenal

"Already fretting over the intentions of Thierry Henry, Cesc Fabregas has further undermined the mood at Arsenal by admitting that he is unsettled at the club.

"It could be that I have doubts. Before I was very sure and I signed for eight years. I was sure that this was the ideal club for me but now maybe I am not so sure when I see that the coach has not renewed his contract, that the president has gone and I don't know what Thierry Henry is going to do. These are all things that could have an influence on my future," the youngster told a newspaper in his native Spain.

"If Wenger goes I'm 90% sure I will leave. I identify the team with him, and without Wenger, Arsenal wouldn't be the same." "

From football365.com

I'm going to go round the bend if this carries on :(

Just ignore the papers and gossip and you'll be fine. I don't read any of that shite as it's just made up bollocks.

So the Quaglileralleralgqlarea fella from Sampdoria who we were linked to this weekend scored two absolute crackers this evening and probably raised his price a good couple of mill in the process.

You can add him to the 'looks-brilliant-but-will-cost-more-than-a-fiver-so-we'll-not-be-getting-him' list.

If that Cesc quote above actually cam from him then I'm genuinely worried-the lack of ANYTHING happening at the moment is bad enough, never mind the possibilty of our best players leaving.

I was going to post about Quagliarella in here last night. He's some player, strong, mobile and his shooting technique is sublime. I really think he'd be a success over here. Although, hopefully with us rather than you. <_<

WE'RE IN UR TRANSFER WINDOW, STEALIN YOUR MALOUDA.

Although if you believe that then you'll believe anything. Not you personally but the papers can't seem to make up their mind if we are skint or if we are competing for every big name around Europe. It seems a bit like they are just pulling names out of a hat and making these rumours up.

TODAY...Arsenal are interested in....Malouda...for £10m!

More worrying is Milan's admission that they will try and buy Eto'o at the end of the season. If they are successful then Barca would need a striker. Wonder who they would go after...

Either Wenger wasn't interested in him in the first place or there was no money to fund the transfer or a bit of both?

I know there's plenty of time to sign players but if we don't get a good few new faces in over the summer we are going to have a terrible season. As it stands, our squad isn't big & good enough to push for the top 2 places

Bayern are paying a lot of money for him. I rate him but I certainly wouldn't have wanted to see Liverpool sign him for that sort of money.

Wenger's done the right thing leaving him to Bayern IMO.

Strange call for Ribery given Bayern aren't in the CL - they must have thrown a ton of money at him.

I thought he was a touch overrated and would have hampered Walcott breaking into the first team - Walcott has far more potential than Ribery IMO.

I agree with you on that, especially when I read this...

Ribery joined Marseille in 2005 and scored 11 goals in 60 appearances for the French club.

Not really the goal scoring medfielder we're looking for.

While it would have been great to sign him purely to quench our thirst for new blood I do believe it would've maybe been a bad idea and that there's better out there. Who? I haven't a fucking clue but I prey AW knows and is simply having a laugh with us all by delaying the signing 'till the last minute.

Maybe he's waiting for the board to agree a price for Henry before knowing what his transfer budget is?

I jest of course as there has to be some money there. The money generated in the first season at the new stadium is fuck loads.

Agreed, Ribery isn't £17m worth of good, and if he goes to a non CL club for more money, then fuck him. He isn't the sort of player we want at the Arsenal.

The trouble is, as highlighted on Arseblog today, is that there is a dearth of talent for sale at the moment, so even fair to middling players like Ribery are fetching a truckload of cash.

Also, Wenger works quietly behind the scenes. Rosicky just appeared one day. Dont recall any rumours linking us to him. I'm confident one or two players will turn up. Lets just hope they arent all teenagers.

Unless, of course, now Dein has gone everyone else has forgotten to sort out some transfers.

Doesn't that have to used to repay the stadium debts?

I keep going round in circles about this. The debt is supposedly well managed, ie we can afford the payments. The stadium is the cause of the debt. The stadium was built to generate more money. We're generating loads of money. We've got no money spend. We're in a worse position than we were at Highbury. We've got fifteen years of this debt. Why the fuck did we move stadium if it's costing us so dearly?

Unless deals for top players are in the pipeline then we can't compete with United, they've strengthened a title winning side with three top drawer players. Chelsea will spend to keep up with them and Liverpool will splash the cash too, sooner or later. Newcastle will soon have money and Spurs aren't shy of spending. Meanwhile the (apparently) biggest earning Club flounders and stutters and prods about in bargain basement.

Something doesn't add up.

Is that from the annual report?

Re: Ribery...agreed, he seems to have been a player who would fit in at Arsenal but £17m? Anyway, Malouda for £8-10m seems a better bet. Mind you it seems every team in England wants him.

Why would anyone ambitious want to join us anyway? We've lost Dein who was a massive draw for players, Wenger's future probably lies elsewhere after next season, and Cesc and Henry are hardly likely to be around forever. Add that to our miserly wage structure and lack of ambition in the transfer market then it's not hard to see why were aren't the plum job we once were.

Cheer up lads, it's not that bad. You're a club with a lot of potential and a very good squad. I really think you won't need to add all that much to it in order to have a real crack at winning some trophies next season.

Arsenal existed 100 years or so without Wenger, Henry & Cesc. Just thought I'd point that out

If Wenger goes, someone else will come in with new ideas and do a job. If Henry goes, another forward will come in. If Fabregas goes, there's always Denilson, failing that someone else will come in. We all shit ourselves when Adams went, then we realised we didn't need him when Toure turned up from Africa. We didn't miss Ian Wright (various forwards), Winterburn (Cole, Clichy), Dixon (Lauren, Toure, Eboue) or Seaman (Jens) either.

Edit: I thought my world had ended when Glenn Helder left but this void was filled with Overmars and then when he wanted to sit on the bench at Barcelona for a living we replaced him with arguably our best ever player (Pires).
