Interesting game, lots of good things and some same old same old too.

Ceballos was another level, his ball retention and passing is something else, and his first touch away from markers is something to behold. Class act and Madrid would be mad to let him go - we have to hope he falls in love with the club as suspect he's something special. He needs to cut out the fancy control/turns on edge of his own box or dangerous passes across the area to marked men but as good a home debut as I can recall.

Luiz won't fix the defence at all but his range of passing will really help, just the option to ping it over the press works a treat with Auba and Pepe.

Leno appears to have gone backwards and instilled fear into the whole box whenever a cross was put in - he was horrible and his kicking was too.

Arsenal need to learn what to do with this new goal kick rule - going short with a 3 man press turned over the ball so often and the crowd anxiety was clearly felt by Leno, who got a cheer whenever he went long.

Cameo from Pepe with a couple of flashed of what he's capable of, his change of direction and direct ball carries could be another dimension.

Apparently Ozil has been ill again. Surely it'd be easier if Arsenal just stated that he's still worried about his family and needs a little more time, unless there's a transfer in the works.

Replay shows all sorts of pulling both ways on that goal.

This gameplan relies on smashing and grabbing and we’ve had a couple of chances but failed to take them, that said you’re unlikely to invite liverpool on like this for 90m and not concede

I kind of knew that we'd lose, but up until the first goal I though the game plan was decent. Needs total focus to invite that amount of pressure from Liverpool and we're just not there yet.

Think there’s a middle ground between leaving yourself open, and what we did today. Very negative approach all round really. Token attacking sub made far too late too.

Until we can find a way of not giving up 20 plus chances a game we're not getting anywhere fast, and it all comes down to the make up of the midfield. You could parallel park a coach around Xhaka. He's just far too lumbering and offers too little in either direction to be the keystone in a Premier League central three or four. Get some more energy in the middle and we'd stop our centre halves being completely exposed every 2 minutes.

Emery's conservatism was his undoing today, yet again. I understand he doesn't want to get his neck stepped on at Anfield, but his approach would be the same if we had Palace away. Stop being terrified of the other team doing you in and try and match up.

Nacho didn't have the legs anymore, he was always a threat at set pieces, but isn't quick enough on the turn or in a 1v1 situation and has always been quite clumsy overall inside the box.

Good servant, Mr consistent really, you knew what you were getting from him, but decent business to get some money in for him.
