Anyway, he's put in a transfer request which is a brave thing to do at West Ham unless you've got an immediate 'out'. I think there must have been whispers from other Clubs and it appears he wants United or us. And United have just done their bollocks on Hargreaves ;) .

If Spanish rag Marca is to be believed, Arsenal and Barcelona are already well into negotiations that would see Thierry Henry move to Spain with Samuel Eto’o and £17M in sacks of cash heading the other way.

Full story here, plus some mildly interesting opinion from the website it's on.

As ever, just passing on what I've read  .

A bit scary really as I cant imagine Arsenal without Henry, felt like that with Vieira and Dennis too though. I'm a big big Henry fan and I would straight away say no way to any mention of him leaving, but if this is true it does look like a fantastic deal.

Eto'o is arguably the only player in the world who could replace Henry and he's a few years younger too.

Can't we just have both??

There is no way that deal is happening. Marca = full of shit, as ever. Guillem Balague reckons if the deal were to happen it would have to be Arsenal sending over sacks of cash with Henry, rather than the other way around. I agree with him, that deal doesn't make sense. I'll be very surprised if Henry isn't at Arsenal next season.

:(

You know, how Wenger helped to turn him into one of the best players in the world after his arrival from Juventus as a decent left winger?

You worded it like there was an anecdote to tell  . But yes, he arrived here as a bit of a flop and a few years later he's been consistently in the world's top two or three players. When you hear players whine and moan and look to manufacture transfers they'd do well to think about what they owe the Club. I'd love to see where Henry would be now if he hadn't come here, the fans and manager have been second to none towards him.

Not that I've got any particular beef with Henry right now but he's a cocky bastard and does his best to keep these tabloids rumours unresolved for as long as possible :( . A straight answer would be nice.

sounded like you had a tasty piece of training ground gossip to impart. untwist those knickers mate.

Hehe, knickers weren't in a twist, sorry if it came across that way. Just trying to reconcile Walcott's initial lack of impact with his great potential

We did see the potential in the Carling Cup though, a super goal. A couple more like that and I think he might be flying. He's small and young, he needs a bit of momentum.

yeah, you're right. the amount of people getting on walcott's back is a bit ridiculous. the kid is SEVENTEEN and was playing most of the season with effectively one arm - there's no way he was going to make up for the large deficiencies in our team all by himself.

Wenger has also been using him out wide, when it's clear he'll end up a centre forward. Some of his goals have reminded me of a young Michael Owen.

Yep. One for the U21s sticks out and the Carling Cup final. Very similar indeed.

I think Walcott might have a tad less finishing skill and a bit more trickiness about him.

My mates started ripping the piss out of Walcott, saying he was shit, etc etc. I asked them if they'd seen his U21 goals, they said no. I showed them the goals and told them to shut the fuck up

The curtis davies rumours are surfacing again...

Walcott is doing fine he will get better every year if ppl don't expect anything from him they will be pleasently suprised. Not sure if i want Reo-coker now not sure where he'd fit in.

Like what? playing him at rb? or as a holding midfielder?

Possibly. When we were having a bad spell I thought he might stick him in midfield for the energy he brings. Not sure it's a long term answer though. And I'm not sure about him at right back. In fact, as much as I love the bloke and think he's a decent centre back he does dive and gets turned easily. A more natural defender might be a wise choice. But how do you drop Kolo? You can't.

Those three (two for the U-21s on the same night) and a couple he scored at Southampton. That's one hell of a compliment now I think about it, Owen was amazing back then. I still miss him. :(

I doubt Walcott will ever be as prolific but I do think he's got the ability to be world class some day. Wenger's doing the right thing by not rushing him into the team. I was personally gutted when you lot out muscled us for him, especially when you consider the little shite's supposed to be a Liverpool fan!

He is a fantastic defender who has really improved over the past few years. For me he's our best defender he has that do or die attitude he will throw himself infront of anything if it prevented a goal, much like john terry and jamie carragher. For me he can't be dropped

He'd be mad to. I'm pretty jealous of you lot when it comes to him, I think him and Carra would probably be the best CB pairing in the league. Between them they'd have the perfect blend of pace, determination, aerial ability and pure defensive ability.

Edit: Great minds, eh Steve? I started typing that before you had posted!
