Giroud probably wants to go if we're bringing in Aubameyang in a World Cup year. His wife is apparently pregnant so probably isn't going to want to move to another country right now. Chelsea does make sense for him on a personal level, unfortunately. As mentioned I'd much rather try and offload Welbeck to someone like Southampton though.

on the plus side at least we aren't signing teenagers only or players with fractured spines on loan - and there is a case that we're finally dismantling a team that hasn't been good enough to win or even challenge for the major prizes.

that said we're dismantling the wrong end of the team, and the bigger problem areas aren't being addressed at all

my son, who like all millenials doesn't see the rules of written language as important, sent me a message earlier saying 'ozil has resigned'

those hyphens can be important.

I think we suit Ozil perfectly, nice quiet non-shouty environment with no bollockings coming his way, and no real pressure/stress, and he gets all his trophies and excitement every couple of years with Germany.

so according to the most recent Swiss Ramble figures we generate match day revenue of €100m per season (lets call that £88m)

at £350k week Ozil is on around £18m per year, or c20% of our match day takings.

I know TV and commercial dwarf that, and delighted we re-signed him, just an interesting figure I thought.

haha, we're sniffing round Luis as part of the Giroud deal - we are probably the only defence in the league that would be made safer by having him in the back line.

edit

Ornstein who started that rumour has now killed it.

Giroud in a Chelsea shirt makes me feel sad - especially with all the other shit we've still got at the club that don't deserve a shirt, especially Welbeck, a striker in the Heskey style who never bloody scores.

I'm quite happy with the transfer window business.  We still severely lack any depth but we've managed to clear out a bit of the deadwood.  I'm absolutely gutted Giroud has gone though.  He was a solid player and got some very important goals for us.

Hopefully the next phase of the rebuilding work gets off to an early start in the summer.  Leaving it all to the last minute is just amateur.

I know our defense is a shambles, but I'm excited about the Aubameyang signing. He seems like more an out-and-out striker than Sanchez.

I liked Giroud, but he's never been that great and obviously wasn't happy on the bench (unlike Wellbeck).

Wenger needs to work out a system to find starting places for Aubameyang & Lacazette.  With Ozil feeding them ammunition it could be quite a potent attack.  The likes of Ramsey getting in the way will just slow the team down, so we need to find a system that works.

I liked him as well.  His goal to game ratio is actually pretty decent for a player that's mostly been deployed as a sub for the last year or so & you can never fault him for effort.  He gave us different options up front and scored some outrageous goals.  He was underrated & Chelsea got a bargain.

Assuming Lacazette isn’t on the scrap heap yet I’m imagining Lacazette up top, Ozil in behind as a 10, Mhkytarian on the right and Aubameyang cutting in off the left (even though his record is as a box scorer, so not sure how that works)

Can’t see us going back 2 up top.

Best place for Ramsey is another club, he’s such a liability, there is a player in there but he believes his own hype now from that purple patch he had 2 years back, and nobody tells him to stop trying stupid flicks and tricks and just keep it simple (even De Bruyne said a couple of weeks back Pep has banned backheels during a match)
