So easy to blame ‘plastic’ foreign day trippers for poor atmosphere but that seems almost a total red herring to me. They make up a very small proportion of the crowd.

Not really.  The Liverpool forums complain about the same thing & they only have a great atmosphere if it's a big game.  They attract a lot more foreign fans than us and I've regularly read on their forums about the issue.  Obviously it's not all down to the foreign lot that turn up for one game, but it is a contributing factor, especially as they seem to get their hands on more and more tickets each season.  That will only get worse at our ground as so many games go to a general sale now.

The people who don't attend games often are too busy taking selfies and pissing around on their phones to be paying attention to the match they've come to see.  Royal Mail own the two seats next to where I sit so there's always two randoms sitting in them.  Quite often the seats remain empty after half time, so either they've gone home or found somewhere else to sit and play with their phones.  It's all very odd & a complete contrast to our away following who are very vocal and supportive of the team.

horrible performance and team selection.

we've signed a finisher in Lacazette as Giroud wasn't ruthless enough in front of goal, but in the process lost everything else good he brought to the team, Giroud's link up play meant the whole attack would revolve around him, Lazazette has shown no ability so far to do that.

I also think the whole team has just got used to having Alexis around to drag them out of a hole, they've been able to put in lots of crap performances like that over the last couple of years but he'll just do something out of nothing and gloss over it.

of course the pen is a factor but shouldn't be used in any way to deflect from the awful performance again - Ozil's fluff chance and Xhaka watching their winner being dire examples.

I don't really do away games much these days and I had no chance of a ticket for Watford away, so I've been going down the road to see Luton Town play to get my football fix.  So far this season I've seen them hammer Yeovil 8-2 and Stevenage 7-1 at the weekend.

What depresses me about seeing these (mostly) young lads at Luton play is that they have such hunger and determination compared to our players.  It's been so long since I've seen 11 players give 100% for the full 90 mins that I'd forgotten what it felt like.  Even at 5-1 Luton wanted more, so they managed to grab a few late goals to finish with 7.  If they took all their chances it would have been about 11 or 12 and Stevenage couldn't have argued with that scoreline.  Luton went for every ball with 100% determination.  That kind of commitment is what swings the 50/50's in your favour and most importantly that drive and determination is what wins you matches - even one's you don't deserve to win.

The one thing Luton have that Arsenal do not is LEADERSHIP.  The Luton manager was reasonably animated on the sideline, constantly demanding things from his players, even when the scoreline was ridiculous.  The captain at the back was barking at his men for the full 90 mins and when he did give his voice a rest, plenty of other players took over to ensure that everyone was doing what they were supposed to.  Every time I go and watch Arsenal I don't see anything from anyone.  Our players don't even have any pride, it's fucking embarrassing.

I made it home about midway through the first half of the Watford v Arsenal game and it was a total contrast to the match I had watched earlier, particularly in the second half.  I've moaned about the lack of leadership at Arsenal for years and the final 10 mins of the game pretty much summed Arsenal up.  They were a disorganised sloppy disgrace.  I don't care if it was a penalty or not, there was no excuse for the winning goal.  What wound me up more than the actual goal was the dumbfounded shocked look on our players stupid faces as if that was not supposed to happen.

I am no Troy Deeney fan, but I agreed with his comments 100% and you could see how the comments hurt Keown sitting next to him during the post match interview.  Whether or not his comments registered with our players is another thing.  Most are probably not even aware of what was said.

if you want to see how out of touch players are with fans feelings towards them look at Jack Wilshire's utter bollocks today saying Deeney is talking rubbish.

No he's not Jack, he's saying what every one of you should know and be doing something about, instead of existing in your hermetically sealed Wenger created bubble of averageness.

You should join the regulars in the league 1, 2 & non-league thread!  But, yeah, it's refreshing to see footy played with commitment and pride at grassroots* level.

Yes it's a real eye opener to see how hungry and committed lower league players are.  Obviously they don't have the silly wages and pampered lifestyle Premier League players have, so they are playing to try and reach that level.  I can't help but feel that we dish out £40k-£60k contracts to players who are far too young and undeserving of such financial rewards far too early time and time again.

Another issue At Arsenal is we sign unproven talent up to ludicrous long-term contracts and can't get rid of them when we realise they are not good enough for the top level.  The money we were paying the likes of Denilson & Bendtner was fucking outrageous (£60k a week) - that was money that could and should have been used elsewhere to strengthen the squad, not to retain deadwood!

I think Wilshire had a good game, would like to see him be given one last chance in the first team, I'm sure he'd add more than Ozil does currently. Obviously he is nowhere near as good.

I'd also like to see us go with two up top, Lacazzette and Giroud, with Sanchez supporting them.
