I'm so fucked off with the club. It's so toxic and so much needs to change yet I know it wil not happen. We are a laughing stock, we are going to finish the window weaker than when we started it, regardless of players form, we are unlikely to bring in anyone yet will sell, numerous first team and squad players. The season is pretty much a write off 3 games in.

You remember when fans were demanding the club offloaded some dead weight players (Diaby, Silvestre etc)? Not sure fans had Chamberlain, Sanchez and Mustafi in mind (yes yes I know they weren't at the club then)

I don't mind Sterling as a player - wouldn't be my first choice (or any choice) to sign for us but it reaches a point where picking up a decent player and some cash for somebody huffy who is off anyway has to be seriously considered, assuming he wants to actually come.

Ah the old swap deal, beloved by journalists around deadline day but very rarely a thing that actually exists. I'll believe it when I see it.

Personally at this point I'd rather we just sold Alexis while he still has value. It's only worth retaining him for the final year if we get top 4 as a result but I just can't see that happening under present-day Arsene. Even if Spurs' home form tanks and they miss out, I can't see us finishing above City/Utd/Chelsea/Liverpool.

The current situation is the result of what I've been going mad about for the last several years.  Regarding the Liverpool match, I'm not sure which other manager would not learn from previous tannings we've got at Anfield and set a side up accordingly, but the team selection was unexplainable.  Having said that, the players picked put in a disgraceful performance.  Aside from Sanchez, I cannot believe the lack of commitment and effort from the remaining 9 outfield players.  It's a sign that they are not playing for the manager, club or even themselves.  Utterly disgusting and some very urgent changes in personnel are needed.  I'm not bothered about The Ox leaving as long as he's replaced with quality, but this is Arsenal, so I doubt anyone else will be signed during this transfer window.  Not much else to say really.

Wenger would ruin Steling just as he's done with Walcott, Ox etc etc.  He would 'coach' that direct eagerness out of him that so many young players have and would turn him into another confused indecisive player that doesn't have any sort of confidence when going forward.  Unfortunately all these young players do exactly as Wenger tells them which is why we have a stockpile of wasted talent.  Just look at Chambers, Jenkinson etc etc who all showed enormous promise but you couldn't give them away now, let alone sell them. He hasn't been able to ruin Alexis's game as he's too good, stubborn & experienced to let Wenger dictate how he will play.

Its classic football fan logic (seems magnified with Arsenal though) that because you had an awful performance the team is terrible. Sanchez, Giroud, Henry, Bergkamp, Van Persie etc.... I don't know if any other Prem manager in history has a better record of developing attacking players.

You'll probably spank someone in the next few games with some mad passing move finished by an Ozil scorpion kick assist to Lacazette who volleys it top bins and does a dab. Then the fans will be appeased for a while again. You dominated Chelsea in the FA Cup final last year. Cheer up.

I think the squad is decent, we could do with a central midfielder though. Elneny is ok but too conservative to ever be really effective. That's the main position we lack depth in.

Personally with Per retiring at the end of the season, Gabriel gone, Chambers clearly not rated by Wenger, Koscielny with a dodgy ankle and Mustafi looking like a total flop, I'd also sell Chambers and go for a first XI centre back. Van Dijk is good but very expensive. We could maybe go back in for Manolas.

Main issue is the coaching and setup though, not the personnel. Been that way for a while now.

When you typed this did you actually think you had a chance of signing Van Dijk. #SoArsenal

Would prefer they founded an entirely new football club. Arsenal has run its course.

What would happen if this sort of form continued until say November, would the board do anything to protect the club?

Protect the fans you mean? Do you think they actually care about winning things? You're all just punters staying loyal to a brand that doesn't even give you a good service.

Has any football journalist ever asked Wenger whether he thinks another manager could possibly do a better job with the squad he has? Why not ask him why he believes the next two years will be any different to the previous 5, during which they bought two of the best players in the world in their position and in their prime from Real Madrid and Barcelona and Leicester won the league. That's what gets me; I don't know what else can happen that will mean success. Arsenal have bought big, got some of the world's best, being able to enjoy stability during a time the opposing top 4 sides were all in transition (to such a degree Leicester could win the league without much competition). I guess Wenger is wise enough to know none of the above matters, but I think it's more than Henry suggesting Giroud isn't the 25 goal striker who Arsenal absolutely need to win the league.

Klopp's reason for leaving Dortmund was that the magic had gone, the methods worn down the squad, and it was in the interests of the club that they part. Wenger seems to lack the same awareness when he shifts every question about his future at Arsenal into being about loyalty and him always honouring a contract as though he's doing the club a favour. If he loves Arsenal so much and it causes him so much visible agony sat on the bench watching them fall apart, how stubborn and deluded is he to believe he and not some else is the one to turn them around? I can't believe it's never crossed his mind. Personally, I don't think he loves Arsenal enough to swallow his pride and stubbornness. He likes the comfortable power.

Ozil and Sanchez are not even close to being the best players in the world in any position. This delusion that seems to go hand in hand with being an Arsenal fan is what facilitates the owners' abuse of you. Wake up and smell the coffee lads, your players are pretty shite on the whole, and while you all give Sanchez a free pass, and believe Ozil is a wanker because of Wenger, they're living a life most of us could only dream of with YOUR hard earned money. Sanchez is the same cunt as any of them.

Wenger should go at this point, it's run its course. But Arsenal fans caused this to happen, not Wenger. You did, with your fucking delusions that you have the World's best players and then 6 months later they're a load of shit. You've done it so many times, one good performance and with no hint of sarcasm, almost every Arsenal fan believes they're the best in the world in that position. You're literally the most fickle tribe in all of Football, and that's saying something. If you had all focussed your energies and efforts on the owners, from the beginning, you might have made them sack Wenger to take the heat off themselves. But you're all just sheep so you made 'Arsene Out' banners instead, and Kroenke and Gazidis were like LOL! Here you go Arsene, keep soaking this up for another couple of years and we'll give you a pay rise.

I don't think we'd be his first choice by any means, but he's unlikely to turn Arsenal down to stay at Southampton. So if the clubs agree a fee and Liverpool/Chelsea etc don't match it then yes, it could happen. Of course it could. I have no idea if we're actually interested in him though.

As an aside, I do like how Virgil Van Dijk seems to have turned into peak Franco Baresi in some people's minds this summer, purely by being a good centre back who's actually on the market.

The rest of your post sounds a bit insane but fuck it I'll bite: I doubt you can find a single example of anyone in this thread saying Alexis and Ozil are the best players in the world. There's an argument that Ozil was for a time the best creative No10 in the world, but it's a role that's fallen out of favour at most top teams (hence no one wanting to sign him this summer), so there's not really that much competition.

Obviously there are lots of deluded Arsenal fans out there who think all the players are world class, same as with any club, but that doesn't have any relevance to rllmuk.

Fucking hell, I'm a Liverpool fan and even I'd admit Alexis Sanchez is a top tier footballer on his day. He'd walk into nearly any first team on the planet.

I liked the bit where we were all meant to somehow force Kroenke to sack Wenger, even though he pretty much never comes to games and clearly doesn't give a fuck one way or another.

Arsenal definitely have lots of insanely fickle internet fans and I can totally see where the bad reputation comes from, but it's silly that everyone in this thread gets tarred with that brush by certain posters when it's clearly unwarranted.

This stereotype of Arsenal fans with delusions of grandeur is so entrenched in their heads that apparently it's now outlandish to suggest the club could sign a bloke from Southampton.

It's certainly very strange. I don't follow a wide variety of Arsenal Twitter accounts, but those I do follow are very level-headed, disparaging and sensible about the team's downfall.

Maybe the fanbase was more delusional around the late-2000s, but painting us now as fans with delusions of grandeur is crazy. It's not that at all. Every fan knows we're a broken team, and it isn't because we're just not as good as Liverpool. There are fundamental issues, pretty clearly.

I do enjoy how he assumes Arsenal fans here celebrate the Wenger Out banners, despite us rolling our eyes at them.

We should buying ludicrously overpriced wonderkids like Neymar or Mbappe or just not bother and pack the whole operation in.

So Gibbs is officially gone not sure how j feel about it, was never really playing but always sad to see a proper gooner leave :(

Highlights the tackle against west brom, the goal line clearance in the 2014 cup final. And the goal against spurs where we pl played pretty much every fullback we had at the club

I saw that Sterling was confused that he was being offered as a make weight due to his winning goals in games at the season start. Surely he should realise City would get rid of him because he's a bit of dick?
