What would happen if this sort of form continued until say November, would the board do anything to protect the club?

September has like, 5 games in two weeks, right?

7 in 3 weeks

ok, discard the 2 Europa ties and the league cup games (he'll play weakened sides anyway), and that leaves 4 league games,  starting on 9th, ending on the 1st october

AFC Bournemouth H

Chelsea A

West Brom H

Brighton AHA H

8/9 points, or wenger out?

Kind of want this to happen to force their hand. Unfortunately I think the board have no clue, so god knows who they would bring in.

Has any football journalist ever asked Wenger whether he thinks another manager could possibly do a better job with the squad he has? Why not ask him why he believes the next two years will be any different to the previous 5, during which they bought two of the best players in the world in their position and in their prime from Real Madrid and Barcelona and Leicester won the league. That's what gets me; I don't know what else can happen that will mean success. Arsenal have bought big, got some of the world's best, being able to enjoy stability during a time the opposing top 4 sides were all in transition (to such a degree Leicester could win the league without much competition). I guess Wenger is wise enough to know none of the above matters, but I think it's more than Henry suggesting Giroud isn't the 25 goal striker who Arsenal absolutely need to win the league.

Klopp's reason for leaving Dortmund was that the magic had gone, the methods worn down the squad, and it was in the interests of the club that they part. Wenger seems to lack the same awareness when he shifts every question about his future at Arsenal into being about loyalty and him always honouring a contract as though he's doing the club a favour. If he loves Arsenal so much and it causes him so much visible agony sat on the bench watching them fall apart, how stubborn and deluded is he to believe he and not some else is the one to turn them around? I can't believe it's never crossed his mind. Personally, I don't think he loves Arsenal enough to swallow his pride and stubbornness. He likes the comfortable power.

He had two great opportunities to walk off into the sunset with a cup win and didn't take either of them. It's a real shame it's come to this but I don't really know if he deserves limitless respect and appreciation anymore to be honest.

The Ox just turned down 180k a week! Must be more to it than that?

Do we now have our answer?

What do you think his reasons are for staying? Genuine belief in himself, delusion? Stubbornness, arrogance? That itch to win a final last premier league despite it preventing him from leaving him time to take on another club elsewhere and potentially do well ? I didn't watch the game live until the second half, wasn't the stream with Gary Neville. On MOTD Murphy's and Keown's reaction afterwards was more of disbelief than anything. The stuff they were picking out, Oxlade turning away from play, leaving Lacazatte and Mustafi out, letting Gabriel go, the narrowness of 3 class midfielder players who should know better. For the Mane counter attack goal Ramsey was in the Liverpool box ! I've not even see the backheel mistake yet.

It gave the impression Wenger wouldn't last a few months. Seems there's genuine unrest within the team. Wenger was predictably evasive in the interview, citing everything but tactics. Just seems different this time. But then..Arsenal fan tv get mad, the board does nothing. Arsenal turn it on next game and everything carries on i guess.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

He could and should have left in the summer. Don't see why he deserves sympathy anymore really.

Yeah, I don't like some of the casual ageism, let alone the more vehement abuse of the man, but Sunday was a new low I think.  The team selection was absurd and the performance one of the worst since, err, Crystal Palace. Can't see much light at the end of this particular tunnel at present.

I think he's largely been pretty poor but I don't think it's just that. After all, how many centre backs have flourished in Arsene Wenger sides? I've heard rumours he's been disruptive but I don't know how true that is. The fact that it seems to be a loan seems absolutely insane though.
