Guardian has us down for 6th place this year, so behind all our rivals. Honestly if we play how we did toward the end of last season and don't take the Europa League too seriously I think we'll be back in the Champions League this time next year. At the very least I can see one if not two of our rivals imploding before the end of the season. I for one look forward to the return of our Annual last 16 humiliation at the hands of Bayern/Barca.

The Guardian always have had us finishing outside the top four for the last decade or so and they're always wrong, last season aside.

genuinely never heard the stadium as loud as when Giroud stuck that beautiful 4th in.

so many things as take aways from that game, horrible team selection and players in wrong places, how is Welbeck starting, formation non existent but clawed it back somehow at end.

interesting tweet by Orbinho how our change to back 3 last season didn't actually dry up the chances being conceded any more than a back 4, we just had a run of keeper saves and misses by opposition for a short while (which was how we started last year and flattered to deceive for a while)

just a truly wonderful mental game of football - all games should be played under floodlights, classics like that never happen in daylight.

now for a nice relaxing weekend watching everybody else try to match our 3 points.

What is unfortunate/stupid with Ox is finally having found a position he may have a chance of looking decent in he's got swapped out to the left, where he looks horrible.

If (and its a big if) he becomes a top class RB then the market level for them has been set at about the 40m plus mark, I'd be inclined to hold on, give him a run, and see what happens.

I prefer him to Bellerin at present in a back 5, Ox makes horrible choices and often puts it into the stand but does carry more threat and is more likely to make something happen in final third than Bellerin.

you know, the red camo training top is pretty sweet:

so the MIL just got one for my son. Which is handy, because some cunt spend a day at sports camp trying to pick the letters off my son's new home kit:

At first I thought it had happened in the wash, I've already been on to Puma about reattaching the letters. Then I told my son about the damage, and he was in tears.

Apparently some girl kept trying to pick the letters off. Now I'm in a chat with puma about it.

I just caught Henry by accident and thought his analysis was excellent, especially calling out the need for Xhaka to just let the passes go to Lacazette when he's making runs, and not play 'the Arsenal ball' out wide or to another less threatening unmarked man.

Early days but an interesting observation of how a team needs to get used to a new player.

Arsenal have been needing to be more direct for years and years now. That team with Ljunberg, Henry, Pires etc were able to pass it around the park but were so exciting to watch because they were so direct and so blisteringly fast and powerful with it that they terrified the opposition

Few very poor performances there, Ozil anonymous again, Xhaka a liability in both directions and my own pet hate is as always Welbeck.

Unless they score we'll have to wait til 70 to see the much better Giroud on for Welbeck, whole attack hangs better with Giroud on the pitch
