On a lighter note I was successful in ballot for a cup final ticket :)

That's three semis finals and now two finals I have got tickets for over the last couple of years. I know its meant to be a random ballet but i know someone who has applied 3 times for final tickets but never for any of the semi finals a he has never been successful in the ballet for a final ticket...

How do you see if you successful - I'm a gold member but no away games, not seeing any option to buy so guessing I'm not succesful ?

Excellent!  Me too!  I've always felt positive about getting a result for every FA Cup final I've attended (this will by my 9th or 10th FA Cup final), but this is going to be a real challenge...

The formation change has really benefited certain players, particularly Ozil and Xhaka.

If Wenger stays next season (which I think is almost a guarantee know), I have a feeling he'll stick with it.

Agreed, I think it benefits Sanchez as well. All the other problems still remain, but at least the side is playing well going into the cup final.

the formation has helped but it was a desperate last ditch reaction after the season was already thrown away

Conte reacted very quickly to Chelsea's early season slide and then caught the rest of the league on the hop. Next season the formation will be something everybody more used to and set up to play against.

It just adds to the view that Wenger isn't pro-active enough in reacting to things, he's too stubborn and set his ways.

Conte has far more experience coaching that system than Wenger does so he was always going to be able to handle that transition a lot better. You can understand Wenger's reluctance to a point because he's never really used three at the back in the last twenty years whereas Conte had used it regularly.

What do y'all think about the new bid by Usmanov? Would you want him in control?

David Ornstein says that Kroenke not interested and wants long term commitment with the club - which could of course just be a bargaining chip to get Usmanov to up his bid.

Usmanov is a pretty shady character but has vast wealth, and seems to be in it with decent intentions as a fan towards the club (if you can believe him)

Even if he takes control (and I don't think he will as Kroenke won't sell) it only solves half the problem, Wenger will still be shopping for dented out of dates tins on the mark down shelf in August as he just can't help himself.

Haha  awesomely put sir!

Apparetly Kroenke isnt a particularly ethical person in some of his dealings either from what i heard.

I'm not that bothered about it, apart from the fact that we will probably lose Alexis. It'll be nice to draw teams other than Barca and Bayern.

We can use the Europa league to really develop the Iwobis, the Holdings and a few other potentials.

I guess for those of you based in the UK, it could mean a few away games to some interesting cities.

I'm very bothered about it. We've spent the last god knows how many years mocking teams (Spurs) for not playing in the CL.

Totally depressing. Unless this leads to a thorough overhaul across the club. Like that's going to happen.

i"m bothered too as somebody who pays for 2 season tickets - sure the price won't go down to reflect we're playing FC Plotz and the Borisov Tractor Factory team in the Thursday pot, and more games on Sunday means way more aggro getting to the games as the main train lines and tubes all do their engineering work around the already flakey sunday service.

That's before we even get to the more important matter of attracting the sort of players that regard champions league qualifying as mandatory for clubs they want to go to (of course we still have in our advantage none of their wives, girlfriends or secret boyfriends will want to really go to Liverpool ahead of London, even if they are keeping our space warm in the CL for a season)

First paragraph: excellent reasoning, an easily understood personal approach, very humanising, easy to see why a complaint is made.

First half of second paragraph: slightly more generic position but a commonly-held thought even if it doesn't hold up to scrutiny of a lot of club transfers.

Second half of second paragraph: ah.
