Wasn't in the same league as Rashford - Gabe kicked him then he throws his leg back. Rashford was pure dive.

Ok it wasn't as bad but it still looked like he moved his leg towards Gabriel to me and the contact was minimal and initiated in part by Kane's movement.

Anyway maybe I'm wrong and it doesn't matter anyway, obviously I don't blame the ref for giving it as it was a wild swing from Gabriel and certainly looked a stonewall penalty in real time.

We need some feel good summer signings because, right now, being an Arsenal  fan is even more dogshit than usual :(

Jermaine Defoe is probably available. You can also buy hearts from your local butcher for virtually nothing these days - 11 will cost about £15.

Fuck that. it was a blatant dive. fuck all this contact equals penalty bullshit it doesn't it was a dive and spurs have been doing it and getting away with it all season.

Its not a dive, he baited him into it, and he fell for it. The ACTUAL reason it shouldn't be a pen, and I've seen quite a few of these, is there's no way he's keeping that ball in if he doesn't get touched. That's what ref's need to keep an eye on a lot more, because if the touch away from the defender is going to keep him in control of the football, then he'd try to stay on his feet a lot more, if he knocks it away that hard and fast in the box, you know he's just trying to get a penalty.

Saw the result, came to the thread expecting specific people to be kicking off, was not disappointed. Other than not being able to watch the game, obviously.

Did you mean to post that in the united thread?

No.

Who's kicking off - the lack of any reaction in here totally mirrors the overriding feeling of 'meh' as we walked away from the ground.

It was an odd game, the not good enough and flakey versus the unadventurous and disinterested.

Yeah, after I posted I realized the kind of people I expected to stink up the thread posted before the game.

Not quite sure if you think I'm a United supporter, I've got a mid 80s Adidas JVC shirt, if it helps. Just don't get to watch them as much these days, but came here to see the reaction to, generally, an unexpected scoreline for recent Arsenal performance.

Delighted with that result.  Last time I watched arsenal v man u at the pub we lost 8-2.  If you can't enjoy this as a Gooner I feel sorry for you!  Let's see if we can snatch and grab a Champions League place lads!

It was a good performance, but it just annoyed me to be honest.  Yesterday the players decided to actually show up and put a shift in, just like the cup semi final.  Quite regularly this season the exact same players couldn't be arsed and just rolled over against much lesser opponents.  It just shows you the mentality of the squad with the lack of desire and hunger to win each match, it's quite sad really.

I don't really share your optimism for a 4th place finish as it's a bit too late for that.  Finishing 5th or 6th would (I hope) encourage some significant investment during the summer to ensure we don't miss a second season of champions league football.  If we finish 4th it will just be another season of treading water and getting hammered by Europe's big boys.

So a season out of the champions league might make some of the squad give that little extra each game to ensure we don't finish 5th, 6th or 7th in the table next season.  There won't be anywhere to hide for those not pulling their weight as the pressure will be huge.

in non-moaning about the management owners news we are the first Premier league club to have an Amazon Echo skill to enable on the device.

you set it up in the app and then just go 'Alexa open Arsenal' - this made me laugh as ironically its all most opposition managers have had to say to their attacks/midfield before a game against us for a lot of the second half of the season.

its a nice little skill though and is handy to remind yourself when the next game is, and also provides commentary on match days, if you can bear the Arsenal official coverage

Hang on, are we gonna get top 4 at the expense of Liverpool?. If we do that and win the FA Cup it's gonna be very hard for people to complain when Wenger signs a new contract. If we come 5th and lose the FA Cup, I'm guessing he's still gonna stay.

We are nowhere near challenging for the title and a million miles away from challenging Europe's elite.  If we did get top four, does that suddenly make everything ok?  Is that mission accomplished for this season and pats on backs all round?  As everyone's so delighted with a top four finish each season, do we just carry on with the same strategy next year and hope to stumble into fourth once again by the skin of our teeth?  Is that all we are now?  Seems like it.

I don't see why it should change people's views drastically just because we've put a bit of a run together at the end. I still wouldn't say we look hugely convincing anyway, and at the end of the day the manager has spent the majority of the season bumbling about seemingly with no real clue how to effectively use the squad he assembled.

On a lighter note I was successful in ballot for a cup final ticket :)

That's three semis finals and now two finals I have got tickets for over the last couple of years. I know its meant to be a random ballet but i know someone who has applied 3 times for final tickets but never for any of the semi finals a he has never been successful in the ballet for a final ticket...
