Klopp was unemployed when Liverpool got him. Very different kettle of fish to trying to coax a coach away from another top European club, especially one who by many accounts wants to go to another club with which he has an existing affinity. Simeone ain't happening.

I have no idea what Eddie Howe has done to get even remotely linked with the Arsenal job tbh.

I just hope the board show a bit of ambition for once. We've signed two players for big money from bigger clubs but only because they were surplus to requirements; we've never gone and forced a player away from a big club that didn't want to sell. I'm worried we'll have the same approach to a new manager and won't even bother trying for the likes of Allegri.

We tried that with Liverpool and Suarez...

Not remotely well enough to be a consideration for a Champions League side. He should be waaaaaaaay down the pecking order at the moment. Plus tbh he's been a bit of a dick about Wenger/Arsenal on numerous occasions, acting like the club owed him a job just because he used to be our captain.

I believe it's an 'open secret' that Simeone is going to Inter. They're obviously not an elite club right now so clearly if it happens that's just his personal preference and no other club will be able to sway him.

Allegri and Tuchel might be more realistic, although by no means easy.

Just please not Koeman, Howe, De Boer, Low, Deschamps or Pellegrini.

Inter have Chinese owners and an ocean of cash behind them now. With the CL rules changing in 18/19 so that the top 4 leagues get 4 spots (and Italy being pretty secure in that 4th spot) his decision to only renew up until 2018 with Atleti seems like more than a coincidence.

Allegri would probably be interested. He's been learning English since before he took over at Juventus apparently and I'm sure he'd like to prove his mettle in other leagues, especially with Conte doing so well at the moment.

You'll probably end up with Puel though, given nicking Saints managers is de rigueur.

Is Wenger actually going to leave? Not to be funny but we could still win the FA Cup and secure a top 4 place, which has been enough up until now. The fact that the decision is being left to the end of the season means he's not going to bow out gracefully with a manager selected before the summer (which would be ideal).

He told French media recently that he'll probably decide in March. I don't think it'll be down to top four/FA Cup this season tbh.

I really do think he's going to go now, and hopefully he informs the board ASAP because there's a hell of a lot of work to be done if he is leaving.

Btw, I don't think it's necessarily a given that he retires if he leaves. He's a workaholic and I don't get the impression he'd be happy with a change of pace like Ferguson was. Regardless of his recent struggles, he's still hugely respected in the game and lots of top clubs would probably be very interested in him.

First time ever I watched a press conference live for Arsenal I think, he was very late and is normally bang on time apparently so some people thought megaton announcements were coming. They weren't.

Nothing that interesting, he re-iterated he'll make his mind up what to do in Mar/April but did say he will definitely be managing somewhere next year, just didn't know where it would be.

PSG would be silly to get rid of Unai. He's a fantastic coach who will surely get them as close to a CL final as they have ever been. Wenger would have to wait at least 2-3 years I think.

Barca must be a possibility.

That's definitely interesting. I couldn't handle seeing him on the sidelines for another team.

Not according to John Cross - in his recent book he says Wenger is often late to press conferences so you certainly can't read anything into that.

Which Classic Arsenal are we in for tonight?

The Classic Arsenal that is in relative crisis and it deepens as they suffer the ignominy of defeat to minnows Sutton United?

Or the Classic Arsenal that is in relative crisis and absolutely wallops a team of lesser quality?

I would say the last one but with an extra bit of Classic Arsenal 'Key players getting injured in what look like harmless incidents' and missing the rest of the season.
