Arsenal

The Leicester pull is one of emotion, what will all his colleagues rallying around him pleading him to stay. That's pretty powerful considering what they achieved together. Hard to imagine really.

Turning down a club like Arsenal and all it could bring at age 30 takes some doing.

He's not actually made a decision yet though has he?

Who is going to take on his wages? He is meant to be on £110,000 a week apparently so there aren't that many clubs in a position to take him.

West Ham with their massive stadium we've all paid for and the TV money would find paying Walcott's wages impossibly simple.

Surprised Everton haven't been linked as well to be honest. He'd be a great signing for either.

Next season is going to be ridiculous. The most ridiculous of all the seasons.

Understandably, this looks like it'll get resolved after the Euros.

If I was Vardy I wouldn't want to be wondering whether I'd made the right decision or not during a major tournament.

Word is Fleetwood Town would net around £6M if the deal did go through, and Leicester would try for Islam Slimani.

Hope we keep the Ox and Chambo. I just have a horrible feeling that if we get rid of Ox, Mourinho will snaffle him up and he'll turn into a world beater.

To be fair, he's probably the kind of player that would benefit from more controlling coaches like Pep and Mourinho.

I've barely seen anything of Slimani, so I watched a compilation. Conclusion: It's really easy to forget just how bad most of the Portuguese Premier League is. Completely pointless viewing, I'd have bagged a few there.

I know nothing about him, was just reporting to the Arsenal thread. All the info is so mental at the moment, so many rumours.  Anyway, time to focus on the Euros. Two days away, I can't wait now.

I wasn't sold on Vardy but I understood why we'd go for him, from a tactics and bastard perspective, and £20m for a striker with (albeit a limited pool of) "elite" numbers is impossible to turn down if you have a degree in economics.

But with these 80% reports making it seem he's staying put (bantered off, etc etc), I really don't think we're going to be getting someone of comparable statistics because they cost 3 times as much. I agree with Arseblog that we're looking for another 3+ players this summer and spending £60m on a striker just doesn't strike me as a financial/squad risk that Wenger will take, particularly if this is his final season.

So another year of hoping the midfield will chip in during Giroud's dry spell after Christmas?

There's going to be some churn at full back - Debuchy is going to leave, there's a very good chance Gibbs will want out too, and it would probably be best for Chambers to have a loan spell if Wenger isn't going to pull the trigger on him at CB. That leaves us probably needing three defenders.

Ornstein says Vardy is probably staying at Leicester.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Please can we buy Morata now.

(We're clearly not going to buy a striker now.)

No disrespect to Leicester but you'd think at his age this would be his last chance at a big club. He has already guaranteed his place in the history books at Leicester, if an Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs, United, City or Chelsea come calling you can't turn it down surely?

I guess LeTissier did.

Pretty different to Le Tiss bumbling about in the relegation areas though innit, Leicester just won the league and are in the CL next season. It's not unfathomable that he might want to stay if Leicester have given him a good financial offer. His family might be settled where he is, and while London is a big pull for foreign players, it's not every Englishman's cup of tea.

True enough, just seems odd at nearly 30 to not want to try your luck at a globally big club.

Fair play to him for staying put, gotta love some loyalty in this day and age.

If he's got assurances the other big players are staying it makes a very big difference. He'd be a good buy, but I'd probably rather see him stay there unless it is a case of "it's him or no striker" (as it probably is).

Given every team seems to have gone quiet regarding to transfers at the moment it's going to be utter chaos after the tournament.

I really think we should go all in for Lukaku - he's the best proven young striker around who isn't at a top club and would agitate for a move to one. Only issue is there will be a number of other suitors.

I'm not sold on Morata - he looks like a similar level player to Giroud to me - his goal record and finishing stats aren't that impressive

Suarez wanted to come to the Arsenal didn't he?

Nah not particularly, it was just that he wanted out of Liverpool but after all his bitey racism, no one else was willing to meet his 'release clause' apart from us.

Lukaku is good but I'm not sure he's technically good enough to play CF for a team like us.

That Squawka table is pretty worthless unless you do it in per90 metrics because Morata played 1000+ mins less than all the others.

even with the per 90 stats nothing there makes me think Morata is a £40m plus player. He played in a decent Juve team that comfortably won Serie A, Lukaku on the other hand played for a pretty ropey Everton team.

see lots of upside in Lukaku and think his hold up play is better than he gets credit for, scores all kinds of goals too, not just a poacher.

Having another striker at Giroud's level doesn't strike(r) me as a problem.

If we can replace Giroud when he goes through his half-season drought with a Giroud who is going through his half-season spree, that would be a good move.

In terms of attributes similar to Vardy, what about Lacazette ? West Ham are apparently interested. Just turned 25, very quick, has an aggression to him, can only go off youtube clips mind. 3 seasons for Lyon, 22, 31, 23 goals, been there 7 years, maybe ready for a big move? What's the likihood he turns up at West Ham and is one of those effective signings everyone looks at and goes; why didn't a bigger club go after him? (Like Michu, Payet before)
