Ramsey is apparently out for 6 weeks and there's still no sign of Cazorla or The Wilsh so I think that's that for us. Best we can probably hope for now is to hope Chelsea get knocked out of the FA Cup by a team capable of beating them in a football match.

If Coquelin can avoid going Full Flamini I think we'll be fine with Elneny as long as they're both told to stay back more than Ramsey would. It would be a good time for World's Best Number 10 to learn to play as a Premier League Number 10 though, rather than needing to be shuffled out to the wing to get enough space. If he can play directly behind the striker with Walcott and Sanchez on the wings I think we're in a fairly good shape. If he needs to stay on the wing and we start doing our obsessive left-flank thing we're going to be in a mess.

I don't mind the Coquelin-Elneny midfield but now we don't have that reliable wide receiver / third CM hybrid anymore with no Ramsey, Wilshere and Cazorla.

Campbell is a safe wide right option in possession but he doesn't offer anything like the defensive cover in deep areas that we saw from Ramsey against Spurs. I don't fancy our chances in some of these forthcoming games without a third CM.

One of the big things everyone liked about Campbell when he wasn't (occasionally) scoring was that he'd track back and make tackles for as long as he was on the pitch.

He does track back but it's not in the same way that Ramsey does, becoming an auxiliary third midfielder and basically playing two positions at once. He doesn't have anything like Ramsey's stamina so he just literally cannot perform that role in the same way.

I think he's the best bet given the options, but basically at this point we probably need 9 wins to stand a chance and I just can't see that happening now.

As long as Elneny and Coquelin spend the vast majority of their time in our half I don't think we'll lose much overall. It might even improve things if they're disciplined enough and focus on getting the ball forwards ASAP.

They probably won't be doing any of that, but y'know.

Even if we win everything, he shouldn't have his contract extended. When we don't, he should leave at the end of the season.

This is peak football fan I think. I mean, come on, if you win EVERYTHING?!

Yeah. It's getting to the point where (imo) it's getting harmful repeating the same cycles. This is an atypical season regardless of who wins it and making decisions based on that seems silly to me. We've gone close to dropping out at group stage of the Champion's League, got battered by a Championship play-off team, failed to beat teams we're scared of and failed to strengthen as required so we get the same injury crises.

Declaring that a success because we've finished above Leicester and the other lot is an odd stance to take. Of course we should do that.

(If we win the Champions League in flamboyant fashion I may change my position. But if we "only" win the league and FA cup, I won't.)

This part probably isn't going to though.

The fact they tried for five minutes towards the end is almost as embarrassing as the previous 85.

Hey, we can concentrate on the Champion's League now. Then on Thursday we can concentrate on winning the league.

It's terrifying to think we could lose him. I think people forget how young he is too, he's easily got another 5 years, but you'd expect him to have another 7 or 8 at the top level if he drops a bit deeper. I would assume the Bayern would quite like a big signing to welcome Ancelotti and he seems a good choice. The only chance of getting away with that is that they didn't seem to see eye to eye when he left Real.

Beyond that, I don't really know where he'd go. The Barcelona interest seems a bit paper-talk, I'm not sure he'd really fit in there and not much has changed at Real unless he wants to become the hard tackling defensive midfielder they need.

I assume City or Utd would have him in a heart beat as well.

I would hope that we'd be able to avoid that unless he really pushed for it, City with Guardiola would obviously be tempting. I do think he'd probably rather go to Germany given the choice.

Knocked out of the Cup at home, bollocksed it right up in a really winnable Prem and no doubt we'll be embarrassed in Spain. Everything is so predictable yet disappointing. Masses of money in the bank, next to no regular quality added to the squad. Problems ignored. Same old excuses in interviews.

It's not good enough and it's absolutely the right time for a change. We should be flying but it's turning a bit sour. Feels a little bit like a sinking ship right now.

Trouble is I can't see Arsene walking and I absolutely cannot see anyone giving him the sack.

Fucking come on Leicester. I've accepted that winning the league is now very unlikely. We don't deserve it anyway. We should still get a top-four place and I don't really care about finishing beneath the enemy but screw them winning the title.
