Looked like Koscielny was obstructing his view. It could have gone either side, so he had to wait for the shot and, as it went through Koscielny's legs, he saw it too late.

I don't think the human brain and body could process the information required for him to reflexively have put a foot out in the timeframe that the ball was entirely visible to him.

It will be nice to get some of the players back who can properly help when we're trying to close a game out. Welbeck, Rosicky, and Arteta are all great options for that type of circumstance but have all been unavailable obviously. Nice safe pairs of hands who won't gift the ball away cheaply.

Nah Campbell had to come off, he was gassed as per usual. Dunno what's up with his fitness levels but it happens consistently.

He goes full-tilt when he's on. I prefer a player that gives 100% for 75 mins, rather than 85% for 90 mins. Our subs should be able to come on, do a job and lift the intensity for the final 15-20 mins.

I'm quite concerned about the Stoke game. It's a fixture that constantly trips us up. We need 3 points and we can't keep relying on other teams to slip up. Last weekend was a bit of a let-off, luckily.

Stoke away and Spurs away are the two games left that I think we're most likely to lose. Honestly think we've got more chance of getting something at City/Utd than we have at those grounds.

On the plus side we might finally see Alexis back in the squad this weekend, and Rosicky, Coquelin, Welbeck & Wilshere are all back in training and allegedly between 2-4 weeks away from being in contention. They're coming back at a good time, certainly.

edit: Arsene doesn't sound that positive re: Alexis' chances vs Stoke. Seems they're being very cautious with him after his setback in December. Guess we're more likely to see him get a run out vs Chelsea

I'm also a bit suspicious of how quickly Welbeck has gone from "We don't really know when he'll be back" to "2-3 weeks away". I'd heard not so long ago that his knee was still in a bad way.

He's either genuinely recovered well, in which case great; or he's fucked and we're pretending he's not in case we can sign a forward this window. You don't want the selling club knowing Welbeck is still out for a long time.

when sky's commentator is referring to Arsenal's previous indiscretions at this ground I assume he means Ryan Shawcross' assault that saw Ramsey get his leg broken in half. There is no bigger bunch of idiotic cunts in all football than Stoke fans on the day they play us.

After 2 draws which were good in isolation but disappointing in the context of the season, which upcoming game and result is going to be the one to start making you worried?

It feels like a win at home against Chelsea is now absolutely required.

Barca home, Utd away, Swansea home, Spurs away, all within 11 days, is an absolutely horrible run. That Spurs game is the one I think we're most likely to lose in the next few weeks. Would be pleased with 6 points from that run, and even 4-5 probably wouldn't be a disaster.

They're likely to have more games to contend with than us, which could end up being a factor. Still got 1-2 League Cup fixtures, plus they're much more likely to make it through to the next round of the CL than we are.

We have 9 home games, 7 away, whereas they have the reverse. However of the current top 6, we still have to play 4 of them away, whereas City only have to go West Ham; the rest are all at home.

This is all assuming Leicester fall away of course, which *still* hasn't happened. So who knows!

Happy that Nacho's signed a new long-term deal. He's gone from looking ropey as fuck to being one of our most consistent performers who doesn't get enough recognition in my opinion. Arguably the best left-back in the league right now. Plus the fact he's been nicknamed 'Crouchy' in the dressing room which is enough to break the will of anyone, so he deserves credit for sticking that one out too.

Jesus, Fox. That away game stuff is a bloody downer... :-(

We always win at West Ham. Leicester we have at home. We just need to get a result at Spurs, and hope Utd stay shit. If it comes down to a shoot out at City, we'll get to see which of the two bottliest teams in the land wants to bottle it the most.

Arguably the best left-back in the league right now.

I don't think that can even be reasonably debated can it? He's been the best in that position by miles this season. Virtually unbeatable in one-on-ones.
