Arsenal

Arsenal were truly appalling there. Injuries aren't a good enough excuse, the players getting their debuts didn't know their roles properly and kept being stood in all the wrong places. Hard to think of it as anything other than the end of Campbell's career too, he was one of the worst players on there and really needed to do better.

Can we play you every week?

We don't need the distraction of the COC. Just want Theo and Ox to be alright.

How do we line up on the right now? Bellerin used to be a winger amd is pretty pacey... Joking, obvs.

It's got to be Campbell if neither can play, but he was probably the worst player on the pitch tonight for my money, so not exactly ideal. Who knows.

I suspect one of the two will be fit to play though, they both seemed very precautionary. Putting Walcott on without a warm up is feasibly the most stupid single thing Wenger has ever done as a manager, which is impressive.

Dunno. As an athlete it's his responsibilty to warm up IMO - before the game if possible (didnt see incident myself so not sure if he had a chance).

He warned up before, Ox was coming off so he went to warm up again. Wenger stopped him from doing so and sent him straight on.

Yeah do you need a second warm up when you're coming on after five minutes? Seems doubtful that it's really necessary to me. I think Ox has been nursing that hamstring for a while now, so he may be out for a bit, but hopefully Walcott was just precautionary (although remember that time we said the same thing when he went off vs Spurs and it turned out he'd torn his ACL )

I don't think it matters. If a player goes to warm up, let him because it's as much psychological as it is physical. You don't want Walcott to go on not sure if he wants to run as fast as he can if an opportunity opens up early on.

You'd really think Arsene would have enough confidence in his team to let them play with 10 men for one spell of play, even if you were playing the best team on earth. Which you clearly were. (Well, better than Bayern Munich at least.)

Three weeks for Walcott, dunno about Ox.

Suspect Arsene will favour 4-3-3 rather than have to play Campbell wide right. Coq-Cazorla-Flamini; Ozil-Giroud-Alexis. Need the front three to stay on fire and conjure something out of nothing really. If we can bluff our way through Swansea-Bayern-Spurs with that side we'll have options again after the international break. Hopefully Ox, Theo and Ramsey will all be back for West Brom.

Big feeling of deja vu. Nothing done about addressing the gaps in the squad, iffy results, pick up in form leaving us believing again that we're on to something so maybe the squad is more or less fine and then the kick in the jellies with injuries leaving us threadbare in places. We're an injury or suspension away from squeaky bum time. If we can make a fist of the next three weeks maybe it'll be our year but it's an increasingly big IF as usual. It's pretty open in the Prem and you can't help but think that even one really decent pre season outfield signing would have helped us take the initiative.

I'd have liked another signing in that area I think, but we do still have good depth in the squad of high quality players on the right:

Ramsey

Wilshere

Ox

Welbeck

Walcott

Rosicky

It initially seems mad that they're all injured at the same time, but then perhaps it's not, seeing as at least two of them (Wilshere and Rosicky) are injured more often than not, and Ramsey and Walcott also tend to be fairly frequent visitors to the treatment table. Oh, and we knew that three of them were long-term absentees before the season even started. Arsene has said this morning that Walcott will be out for longer, too. It's not great, really.

I'd be chuffed to bits with 4 points from the next two league games, given the state of the squad right now.

Two would be fine and probably should be aimed for. (Although we won't, obviously.)

Arsene mentioned the possibility of playing an extra midfielder in a 4-3-3. I do think there's a good chance he'll do that as a safety first approach against Swansea, with Campbell/Iwobi off the bench. I can see him keeping Coquelin/Cazorla at the base and using Flamini in a more advanced role, trying to run in behind a bit so that it's not too static up top.

Jeff will be on his way back from the U17 World Cup, and Crowley is coming back from Barnsley too. Not ideal obviously, but I think those younger guys are at least a bit ahead of some of the ones we had to use against Sheffield Wednesday.

Arsenal: Cech, Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal, Coquelin, Cazorla, Ozil, Campbell, Alexis, Giroud

Subs: Macey, Debuchy, Gibbs, Gabriel, Chambers, Flamini, Iwobi

hope the starting XI do the business because we aint changing this one for the better from the bench

well that was one of the worst 45m of footy I've watched in along time - its being played like the first pre season friendly somewhere very hot.

just a dull lifeless match.

2 half chances for us and one for them, where Gomis showed the mental sharpness of an 80y old in a break and got caught by Bellerin running back with the turbos on full.

swansea probably had a shout for a pen too where Per got lucky in the wall and clearly stuck his arm out to block a shot

you almost have to train yourself to watch and appreciate Ozil I think, last players I recall like that were Teddy Sheringham and Peter Beardsley (not comparing him to them but it took time for everybody to realise how good they were)

I love how he can just do a simple turn in midfield and create acres of space for himself, he plays the game with very few frills but manages to be super creative, its a rare combo in a player
