As fun as it is to sign new players, I think there is a reasonable case to be made that Liverpool and Spurs would be better if they signed less players.

We actually don't have a particularly big squad, we've shipped out a number of players (be it on loan or sold). It's just the players we have brought in have cost a bit and Rodgers isn't quite sure how to get the best out of them. We've certainly bought too many players that aren't improvements/good enough though, on that you'll not hear many complaints from fans.

Yeah, I only meant the number of individuals bought (and by extension sold) sold rather than the end result in terms of numbers. It just feels disruptive.

Sheffield Wednesday have signed 15 this window, so at least I've not been starved entirely, and I got berated on Twitter for saying maybe we should calm down. Fans like signing players and I do think clubs get caught up in that, especially when money from Bale, Suarez or (in Wednesday's case) tuna suddenly appears. It just feels like Wenger is a bit too far the other way. Signing two or three a year, a first team cert, a sub and someone with potential seems the right way to me.

Didn't they tweet last week that he would be back after the international break?

Would probably make sense if they were trying to sign a striker to be fair. Announcing the extent of Welbeck's injury would have added another £10m onto the price of everyone we wanted (not that it made any difference anyway in the end of course).

When we get the ball in wide areas Theo's movement needs a hell of a lot of work. He just sort of runs towards to the goal in a straight line.

I thought the first half was the best we've played all season, but the second half wasn't great. I actually thought Özil was uncharacteristically wasteful in possession a few times too.
