Arsenal

Depends how fussed he is about staying at Arsenal and how confident he is in his abilities. He's also 8 years younger than Cech so I don't think Cech joining would necessarily be a death knell, consigning him to permanent No2 status. If he truly does want to stay at Arsenal I could see him knuckling down and trying to up his game to oust Cech, and talent-wise he is capable of it.

I'd much rather have Cech and a focused Szczesny with a point to prove than Cech and Big Dave Ospina, that's for sure.

It's a fair point and one I think you've made before. I totally accept it's right, too. It's just that "focused Szczesny with a point to prove" might never exist, and so you're taking a bit of a gamble sacking off Ospina who is a perfectly reliable number 2.

Well if getting dropped and then Cech coming in doesn't give him motivation and focus, nothing will. If it doesn't work out then he moves on in a year or two and someone else comes in.

In other news, it seems the away kit is more of a WILTOOOOOOOOOORD gold/navy combo than the previous orangey/black-looking image: http://news.arseblog.com/2015/06/pumas-new-gold-arsenal-201516-away-kit-leaked/

Ceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeech! Doesn't quite have the same ring to it as Ooooooooosssssspinaahhhhhh! but I'm still hoping this goes ahead. 11 million sounds like a decent bit of business presuming it doesn't all turn out to be bollocks.

Seems like Cech is going to happen. I know he's not the best in the world, but he's certainly better than what we currently have and hopefully his experience will add something to the team. Reminds me of Van der Sar signed for Man United.

Surprised that Cech seems like he's coming to us as I was certain Mourinho would scupper it somehow, but if the player wants the move then there's not an awful lot he can do about it. He's a definite upgrade on what we have & would be an excellent buy if it does happen.

Ospina did well when called upon & getting £6m for him would be a good deal too. Szcszney as a no.2 would be great back-up, although I can see him angling for a move away before long if that's his permanent role.

I wouldn't be surprised if it comes to nought. It must really bother them (Mourinho) to sell to us, yet the player clearly wants to come and they don't want to look like they're treating him shoddily. However something seems to be up.

Schneiderlin isn't a £25m upgrade on Coquelin for me. As I said in the other thread, I think he's more likely to go to United.

Don't get me wrong, he'd improve the squad a lot and the first XI by a reasonable amount, but for that sort of money you need more of an upgrade than that I think. Wenger seems more familiar with the player than most and if he's decided to look elsewhere then I can get on board with that (as long as we get someone!)
