I have never had much confidence in Ospina I just assumed Szceszny would be reinstated after he'd "learnt his lesson". I really think he could be a fantastic keeper for a very long time.

I can only assume his indiscretions are more serious than we knew.

Szczesny would have been absolutely slaughtered for that. Way, way worse than the one he let in vs Reading, which led to a call in here for him to never play for us again.

We need a new keeper in the summer really.

guys...

Goalkeeper Petr Cech could be set to end his 11-year career at Chelsea after his agent said that he has been given permission to talk to other clubs.

Clubs other than Arsenal. That's fairly old news, though, I don't think anyone in the world expects him to be at Chelsea next season and they've been talking about shifting him since last summer.

If we're going to trawl the Premier League for a keeper, we'd be much better off wasting our time on Lloris, a keeper who we might be able to get.

Well trying certainly would be a good way to waste your time! :hat:

Seriously though, if a team is shopping inside the Premiership surely the guy to look at is Begovic?

I wondered why none of you seemed to be mentioning Begovic as well. Sounds as though he'll be going and they've already got Butland to presumably replace him so it shouldn't be too reliant on other deals.

I do vaguely have the impression that he hasn't looked as reliable this season though. I don't know whether the stats etc. back that up but I dimly remember a few surprising clangers.

So we apparently get £3 million if Barcelona win the Champions League as part of the vermaelen deal ????

I would be worried if mourinho let us sign Cech, I know he's only 32 but I doubt he would sell a good player to a rival.

Shambles of a first half but really good in the second. Probably should have won it with the chances Giroud and others had but a point is acceptable. Ramsey was immense, Ozil a bit anonymous and Alexis incredibly frustrating. A point on Wednesday will be enough.

Heh. A win & a draw in two games at Old Trafford is a step in the right direction & avoiding that irritating qualifier is a real boon that'll hopefully make our summer business a bit smoother. I'm unsure what Wenger thinks we need to be a true title-challenging side though. I'm a bit concerned that he feels that he doesn't need to go for anyone of 'top quality' and will instead broadly settle for what we have, with one or two squad additions to replace the likes of Arteta & Rosicky. Hope I'm wrong but I'm preparing for a slightly underwhelming summer in the transfer market...

I'm one who feels like we've made progress, despite as TTK says, we're going to end up with less points than last year.

But, and it's a big but. This is not pretty reading from @orbinho

Dunno how much to read into that though bearing in mind the first half of this season was just straight up bullshit. Since Christmas we've been much better overall. Won at the Etihad, won and drawn at Old Trafford, drew to Chelsea, trounced Liverpool at home. The only shit results in the second half of the season have been Southampton, Spurs & Swansea (and it's probably fair to say the Swansea loss was a bit of a freak result based on the performance).

Like, I'm not writing off those pre-Christmas results because obviously they did actually happen, but at the same time I don't think that form was a true reflection of our ability. There were a bunch of factors at play but really you can put a hell of a lot of those performances down to a lack of defensive cover, and a change to a new formation that pretty much didn't work.

I feel pretty positive about this summer, we have the strongest team we've had for a very long time and can afford to just concentrate on getting in a couple of good signings rather than needing a complete overhaul. I would imagine we'll try and move on a few older players like Flamini and Rosicky and would hope we bring in a goalkeeper, defensive midfielder and maybe a striker.

I do think Wellbeck could come good, just based on how much Giroud has improved, so wouldn't be devastated if we don't sign someone up front. Having said that you only need to look at Chelsea this year to see what a difference a really top class forward can make.
