Any regular watchers of La Liga who've seen much of Paulista? Like most people, I watch the El Clásicos but there's only so much football I want taking up my spare time, so don't see much else from Spain. He sounds great from all the reports though & it's good to see us making a positive move in the January window. If only we'd got him in August...

Boro look like a decent hard working well organised side and they deserved their win against City but a home draw against a Championship side in the last 16 can't be bad.

Not gonna be easy at all and has the potential for a cup shock but the draw could have been worse.

Apparently the work permit thing is a red herring nowadays, as the FA run it for football on behalf of the home office, the rules get tougher next year (not sure how) but any signing of more than £10m is automatically eligible anyway.

You've got that mixed up. The rule is changing to bring in the rule where players over a (no doubt fluctuating) value come in for the summer. If we hadn't got a work permit now, we could have just waited and bought him then without issue.

As Arseblog said, our team was getting too pretty. You look at the last decade of league winners and there are some ugly men.

Really loving his third person approach to interviews:

“I am arriving at a big club and the fans can expect to find a Gabriel with a great will to help everyone. Not just thinking of me as an individual, because to me that is not important. I care more about helping the team and my team-mates. I want to help everyone, so the fans can expect a Gabriel that on the field has a lot of will to be able to help the team win important things.”

It reminds me of Chris Rock's Terry Armstrong skit.

So we signed a DM and Defender, hurray! Alright so the DM is a unknown 17 year old Pole and the defender has shades of Squillaci, but it's better than nothing I suppose. The emergence of Ospina, Coquelin and Bellerín as genuine first team contenders softens the blow of not signing Carvalho and Cavani a little I guess ^_^

I pray that Alexis injury is not serious.

Özil looks like he's bulked up a fair bit during his time out, without overdoing it like Wilshere seemed to.

Wilshere's back in training, hoping that means we see him before March. Really liking the look of our squad at the moment :) #diaby #neverforget
