Cazorla was good but the rest of the midfield was dogshit. I'll give Ox a pass as he clearly wasn't 100% and isn't really a central midfielder. Flamini is just a complete waste of space, it's criminal we didn't sign an Arteta alternative in the summer just so we could bin him. Alexis was by far the worst of the forward three but he's probably knackered tbf.

Quite negative subs I thought, basically invited pressure on to us and eventually we ceded. Would have preferred Fenton on to give them something to think about for the last 15 mins, but you win some, you lose some.

As I've posted in the Liverpool thread, what's concerning for us is that we still couldn't beat you guys when you played that badly - and you were awful. It's a point that still feels a bit like a defeat, even with our lack of this thing called "defending". A point is really much good for either of us, sadly, but I suppose we'll take more confidence from that game than you guys will.

Also, Opta have said that's the most shots you've faced since they started collecting stats in 2003 - and sadly (for us) too many fell to Coutinho.

Oh I definitely agree that we lack something up top - Sterling wasn't really too involved in the game, certainly not as the main point of the attack - but to have 27 shots is both surprising and indicative of how much of the game we controlled (apparently your possession stats were also the lowest since Opta started collecting data, which is also quite remarkable really.) I suppose the argument (also made in commentary) is that you still scored 2 despite far fewer chances.

We're a very ordinary team at the moment, I must admit I expected more from you guys though. That kind of performance has to be a concern?

We were shit and Liverpool deserved at least a draw but if you're leading in the 96th minute you should win the game. Simple.

To concede a goal like we did as late as that is nothing short of criminal.

This is Sunday league stuff. Our big guy picks up their big guy, our little guys, full backs, get on the posts. What happens instead? Gibbs goes walkabout and our big guy is marking space while their big guy is given enough room to take a run up and then have a free header on goal.

Absolutely ridiculous!

We're missing our best defender, our only competent holding player, and so many central midfielders that we had to recall a bloke who was on loan at Charlton. We're running on fumes and people like Per and Alexis are being run into the ground because there aren't any options.

If we're still playing like this when we've got a few players back and maybe signed one in January, then I'll be worried.

Well that's the thing, though - the club should have good enough squad players to be able to come in and not play like that. Look at Man U - they've had a load of injuries, are also playing pretty poorly by most accounts but I don't think have been dominated in games like Arsenal were today. You started slowly and never got going - something we've suffered in lots of games this season.

"Dominated" is a bit much, you had by far the better of it in midfield but were rubbish near our penalty box and even worse near yours.

Rodgers got his attacking tactics right today and there wasn't much Wenger could do to counter it because of a lack of personnel. Ox was clearly not at the races today, he wasn't helping Flamini and wasn't providing any link play to the forwards either, but as mentioned the only alternative we had was Coquelin who had to be emergency recalled from Charlton last week. Literally every other midfielder is injured.

I know stats don't tell the whole story a lot of times, but today was the most number of shots you had against you and your worst possession stats since Opta started collecting data in 2003. We had more of the ball all over the pitch, nullified Sanchez and Welbeck completely and only Giroud played well (and he only came to life in the second half.) You lost your shape everywhere and couldn't pick Coutinho and Lallana up all game. On top of that, Flamini probably should have been sent off.

So yeah, I do therefore believe we dominated. Hell, if most of the best chances hadn't fallen to Coutinho it could well have ended-up as a healthy win.

I still think you're the better side and will finish above us, though.

This picture doesnt look good for Per, 100 cap world cup winning centre backs arent meant to defend like this.

Bit of a misrepresentation though isn't it, Skrtel isn't in Per's zone there and the ball sails over his head - it's surely Chambers who needs to deal with it. Per could maybe have done more to get into the challenge in some way, but it's too simplistic to look at a photo and go "Oh he's ducked out of the way". He's never really in that challenge in the first place.
