I'm not sure. Qualification wise it doesn't really make any difference, but it means we're taking a difficult route when we're not in a particularly strong position to qualify for next year. Every other time this has happened we've had "well, we'll get fourth" but that doesn't seem massively likely at the moment.

Just sitting here thinking about tonight's game and I feel quite sad really. I remember a few years back, by now I would be getting nervous and wouldn't be able to sit still or concentrate on anything else. If I'm being honest, at the moment I couldn't give a shit what happens in the game. I'm sure when it starts I'll get a bit excited but nothing like before.

I hope we win, I hope the game is exciting, I hope Sanogo scores tonight, I hope we keep a clean sheet, I hope no one gets inured. If none of these things happen I'm not gonna lose any sleep though.

It's just all become way too samey, too boring & too predictable.

I've said many times in the past, as have a lot of others, that you can say the same for all of the last 10 years or so.

We play Chelsea and lose comfortably

We play Utd and get beat no matter how much they seem to be struggling for one reason or another

We play City and lose with the odd rare exception

We play Liverpool and lose with the odd rare exception

We play Spurs and do ok with a few hiccups

We do ok against the rest with a few shocks thrown in

We stumble through the season getting ridiculous injuries and just about cross the finish line into 4th place

We get out the groups in the CL only to get beat by the first proper good team we play

We have a little cup run here and there with the exception of last year where we actually won the FA Cup

Don't want to put too much of a downer on things but it's got to the point where something different needs to happen.

We need a new manager, someone with different ideas. The current idea works as a business model and is a hugely profitable juggernaut, but as a sports team, something fans pay top dollar to watch, what is happening now is just not good enough. I've grown tired and bored of it.

It's not all AW's fault but he is the manager and I'm afraid we need a new manager, a younger manager with new ideas. We need Klopp, Simeone or Pep. Someone who's gonna tear up the current boring and stale blueprint and come up with their own.

Someone's who's gonna look at this club and realise that we are a huge top 16 club in Europe but can quite easily be transformed into a top 6 club in Europe without relying on miracles. A club that can actually challenge for the PL, a club that has a chance of winning the CL, not to mention the FA Cup and COC.

We have a big new stadium, we are in London, we have a reasonably good core of a squad, definitely something that can be built on, we have good sponshorship deals in place, we are almost debt free & we are earning fortunes and have great earning potential.

This is not a club that needs to start from the beginning. It just needs someone with bollocks who's gonna go for it and say 'I'm not happy with cruising and mediocrity, we don't have the money that City, Chelsea or PSG have, we don't have the pulling power of Barca or Real but we're gonna give this a real go and we are gonna give these fuckers a run for their money'.

It can be done. Try telling Simeone he can't win the Spanish title with Athletico, try telling Klopp he can't win the German title with Dortmund, try telling teams like Porto, Dortmund, Inter, Liverpool, AC Milan, Juventus or Ajax that they can't win the CL. All have won it just going back 20 years.

Enjoy the Game gooners.

I probably wont. :(

I agree with a lot of your sentiment but I'm still willing to stick by Wenger. However I do have to say I really REALLY hope that the club is already putting the gears in motion to secure a top manger when Wenger does leave. Be that at the end of his contract or if he decides to go earlier.

Personally I love to see Klopp at the club, not just because he's a good manager but because he'd be 'loyal' and a good fit our brand of football. I'd like to think he's already been sounded out but who am I kidding..

Agree with every single thing you say, Lucky. Great post.

I've defended Wenger for years now & have huge admiration & respect for all he's achieved & done for the club, but it can't be denied any longer. We're not going to progress any further under him & need a change at the end of the season. I just hope that he accepts it himself (and I'm not sure he does) & that a suitable replacement is available.
