Can't say I'm welbeck's biggest fan but not exactly gutted we passed up falcao's £365 per week wages. A lot of forwards that moved this window aren't world class. You could argue that falcao will not be the same player. Welbeck is mobile, strong and agile, the finishing and first touch can come with training. Not a lot of forwards that I would realistically have liked, all things considered. I'm just gutted we didn't sign a cb or dm or someone who could do both. Would rather have had song back than nothing!

I actually like Welbeck, so am not too upset that we signed him. Hopefully he can turn into a similar signing for us as Sturridge was for Liverpool. Sánchez, Campbell and Welbeck is a significant upgrade to what we had available up front last season. Very surprised that Podolski is still at the club tbh.

Why we didn’t sign a DM or CB I have no idea.

Thing is with Alderweireld and Lovren is they probably would prefer to move to clubs where they're first choice, and we can't really offer that. Certainly not Alderweireld anyway. Lovren was £20m, only the oil clubs pay that sort of money for reserve defenders.

Best to let them get a full season in at Southampton to see how they do, and THEN take them like other clubs have eh?

I think Wenger's pining his hopes on Diaby coming good at DM.

CB cover is blatantly Chambers.

Not saying that it's right bit I think that's the way he's looking at it.

Given the number of games in a season it seems like most clubs have 4 center backs these days. I guess we could manage with Chambers covering both the RB and CB position, but It's risky given our injury record.

I guess we have 2 DM's in Arterta and Flamini and you're right Diaby could cover that position also, but I think most people were hoping for an upgrade in that position, although I do think Arteta is pretty underrated.

I hope Welbeck does really well for you, gutted we've sold him. You have a really quick attack now, even without Walcott. I think he is an upgrade of Giroud, offers about the same goal threat, but is far, far more mobile. I think his finishing should improve if he is allowed time in a central role too. His movement is fantastic, I think Ozil will enjoy the space he'll get playing behind him.

Sponsorship of an anti-hate campaign by a betting website feels so gross, for some reason.

The NSPCC bring you a new campaign, showing what life would be like if daddy wasn't worried about money because he took out a new 3,000% loan every month to pay off last month's. In association with Wonga, the responsible pay-day lending company. TM.

Gonna be ace when Utd find out they've signed a rapidly declining crock for £8 billion to replace him too.

I like Falcao, he was great to watch for a brief period, but I can't quite fathom the standing he has and I do kinda hope it goes comically wrong. He's certainly no Welé. :)

I think it's a bit of both, but closer the former. He's become one of those cases though, where I think just one (decent) goal would do him the world of good, settle his nerves, etc, but I'm not actually ever confident he'll put anything away.

As far as Wellbeck, I'm even more enthused after seeing last night, with the confidence boost it'll have hopefully given him, but it is tempered by the fact the weekend game is an early Saturday kickoff on BT Sport against Manchester City. Knowing our luck in those he'll get a brace in each end (and then decapitated by an errant Kolarov freekick) in the the first 20 minutes of a 7-3 loss.
