Arsenal

To be fair, if we do get Welbeck, we are (unfortunate Giroud injury aside) stronger than this time last year. Both the defensive exits have had equally decent replacements, Alexis is undeniably a big addition, and Welbeck is certainly an upgrade on Bendtner. It's just infuriating that what felt like it could be a summer to really push on has ended up being one of mild improvement.

Why are you all so down on Wellbeck? Like Sturridge at Liverpool I think if Arsenal play to his strengths he'll be a complete revelation for Arsenal.

Arsenal aren't going to "play to his strengths" unless it's by sheer fluke. Arsenal play how Arsenal play, and he either fits or he doesn't.

How long before Walcott's back? We could be pretty exciting soon. And weirdly English.

We should have got someone better really but he's potentially a very good player and tends to perform well in big games. Chuchuchris thinks he's shit which basically means he's brilliant by default.

£16m for someone who might do ok, might get a few goals because of all the chances that could be laid on for him, someone who I suppose is better than Sanogo or Campbell.

But I'm not excited at all.

Shit signing. (Still not confirmed is it?)

Why risk £18m on Welbeck but pass up on Balotelli? It screams desperation from Wenger. Arsene has an obsession with forwards who play across the line, when this team clearly needs a proper CF.

Welbeck isn't mental though. Lower potential reward, but lower risk too. Neither is ideal but we are where we are.

Very disappointing window though, and I worry about our squad going forward. Defensive depth is poor and we STILL don't have the top drawer DM we've lacked since Gilberto.

Yep, apparently we had a bid turned down for Carvalho, which is disappointing (apologies if already mentioned but have been out all day).

No, but Balotelli has the potential to be one of the best CF's in the world, if you can get him focussed. The way Wenger babys our players would probably have been able to do that. Just frustrating because whereas Mario would have clearly improved us, Welbeck does nothing of the sort. He's just another forward body who doesn't fit anywhere when Giroud and Theo are fit again.

Chelsea bring in a beast like Costa, who'll win them the league by the way, Utd bring in another beast in Falcao, City already have an unbelievable front line and Liverpool bring in Balotelli. We are after Wellbeck, Danny fucking Wellbeck. This is unbelievable!

Ozil and Sanchez were playing with Messi and Ronaldo before they came to Arsenal. Now they are playing with Sanogo and Wellbeck.

The most underwhelming signing ever (if it happens).
