Loic Remy, on loan for the season even, seems a simple answer to the striker problem

Except he's shit.

Ornstein says we're not looking at a striker anyways, just CB and maybe DM. Risky, to say the least, if the club are feeding him the truth on that one.

Of course I'd rather we go for Falcao or Cavani but I can't quite see AW going for (paying top dollar for) either of these. He'll probably muddle through with Sanchez, Sanogo, Campbell, Theo or Poldoski until Giroud is fit again.

Remy might not be top class but I reckon he's a better option as a striker than any of these.

It was risky before Giroud got injured, carrying on regardless is a bit mental.

How do we possibly think we can compete at the very top with Giroud as our main striker and now even without him. Madness.

Are there even options available though? Cavani and Falcao just aren't realistic.

Benzema? I suppose there is the slimmest chance if Real do something hilarious and sign Falcao or something for a million quid and need to recoup.

I don't know why no one is talking about Bony. I think he'd be a really good fit - he's strong, holds up the ball really well and scores goals. Plus Chamakh was not enough to sate my African striker hunger - it's been too long.

Welbz is a decent player IMO but United won't sell to us. Bony would be too expensive I think as Swansea can't really afford to lose him at such a late stage. He's not top drawer but he's certainly better than Remy.

I suspect we were waiting to see what happened at the end of the window here, as with Ozil. The shout for Benzema seems sound in that case - I know he signed a new contract, but that could easily have been done just so Real get a proper fee for him.

Probably should have just signed Mandzukic for £25m tbh. He's not brilliant but he'd have still been a big squad improvement.
