Shame to see Podolski leave, he has such a great attitude! He never really worked out though and his wages are a lot to pay for someone who is on the periphery of the team.

Hopefully we will qualify for the Champions League and splash some cash this week.

It's weird to think of a player not working out when he scored 28 goals in 69 games, and those figures are skewed because he probably played 90 minutes about three times. I never really understood what went wrong with Podolski because he always seemed to pop up when you really needed something.

I saw something in the paper this morning about him finalising a deal, Juventus, isn't it?

He reminds me a bit of Dirk Kuyt; not great as a central striker but a converted wide man (of sorts) who had a fantastic work ethic and would run all day. Except Podolski scored more.

Pretty worried about tomorrow too. I can see us conceding and then finding it tough to break them down. I love the fact that Wenger keeps faith in players but I do think it's a massive mistake not trying to strengthen our attack. I know there's not a lot of talent out there but its the fact that he doesn't seem to be placing much importance on the issue which worries me.

Well that's something different I guess.

Ha, well obviously I don't that much of him but when I have he's looked solid. Not necessarily effective, mind. Again, a bit like old Dirk.

Edit: And in fairness I was talking about Kuyt when saying the fantastic work ethic.

But yeah.

At least Ramsey being out should mean the end of the 4-3-3 and Ozil back in the No10 position. We were very very narrow against Everton, with Ramsey, Wilshere and Ox all treading on each other's toes. Even though a few players are clearly still a bit rusty, we should hopefully see greater fluency if we move back to our normal 4-2-3-1. Wilshere tends to do better deep with Flamini than Arteta, so hopefully that pair will function ok, then I suspect the front players will be Ox-Ozil-Cazorla; Alexis. Campbell and Podolski will be options off the bench, plus Sanogo if he's not still injured.

As for Giroud, if it's right that he's out until January then personally I'd be prioritising a striker over a midfielder now. We all know Arteta's deficiencies, but he really wasn't much of a problem last year at all, especially when paired with Ramsey. All the shit results and hammerings we got came when that midfield pairing was broken up.

I wouldn't mind Remy but don't you think we deserve a truly world class centre forward? Who that might be is in the hands of the Club but I think we need someone properly good now. Giroud is our senior striker and he's not good enough. Campbell and Sanogo might as well be discounted at this stage, with respect, due to age and inexperience. Podolski, Sanchez and Walcott aren't centre forwards, never will be. We need to get in a really good and proven centre forward.
